Thanks for all the replies. I was leaving it open, but I think ill try it closed or just cracked a little. I had seen both, didn't know if it made much difference on heat buildup. Think I will try it closed, it sure is quiet that way.

I have a Raptor and ran it with the door closed it warped the door. I would keep it closed running down the road, but standing I would not recommend it ,just my opinion

On my Raptor 3612 it would get the gen compartment, and in turn the bedroom pretty warm if I ran it for extended periods. I often ran with the compartment door open so it wouldn't heat the area up. My Winnebago is better insulated and I can't feel the heat from it, so I always run with the door closed.

I have seen a generator burn up while running two a/c's in 110 degree heat. Not pretty!
I always open my generator doors if it is warm outside and I am running the unit for extended periods of time. It is louder outside with the compartment doors open but then I am usually inside if the generator is running.
I don't have any hard or fast rule for when I open the doors but if it is warm or going to get warm outside I do it.

My generator compartment hatch door is half screen and half solid. Air is drawn in through the screen and out through the floor under the generator. Having the hatch door open accomplishes nothing.

I see know issue with running the genny with the compartment door open or closed. As long as the genny access cover is installed, all is good.

I would imagine it must of been an older generator or not well maintained! I belong to a large off road group and been hiting the Dez for years.... I've never seen a generator burn up while running two a/c's in 110 degree heat. But I'm more then sure it did happened! Just seems theres something missing to burn up a genny? And low oil, also oil sensors not working is one of them.

yes, most gennys don't monitor oil pressure, but do monitor oil temp for shutdown. As for ones burning down, I could see that happening, especially with the way these things are built, hot temps and probably a few loose wires in a bus bar.
