Help trouble shooting why igniting Dometic fridge "RM 1303 ASE
causes a flame up the wall? (this is the original 1984 model in
our Class A Motor Home)

switch to electric or manually light it
get this fixed NOW

the ignition is suppose to start before the gas valve opens
this is not happening, your valve is opening, then the ignition is sparking

try cleaning all connections on the board

and clean the tip of the electrode ignitor

you might need a new ignitor electrode and/or a new board

fix NOW before you burn down your RV

Check to see if the gas valve even shuts off. It could be always open and the igniter lights all of accumulated gas. One indication that this is what is happening is that there seems to be a large amount of gas present when the igniter goes off. The shut off valve should be replaceable.
