I had my first experience this past weekend using PEX tubing and Sharkbite connector for a plumbing project in the RV.

I will never go back to copper, PVC or galvanized plumbing again.

I could not believe how easy it was to use the Sharkbite connectors.

If you've never heard of or used Sharkbite plumbing do your self a favor and research it. Here's the website http://www.sharkbite.com/usa/?gclid=CMqyzvbasrECFYUaQgodJQYA5A

Everything is cut and push together...no glue, no heat, no solder, no putty or teflon tape.

If you are going to do more than a few PEX fittings get a crimper and some rings. Makes it much easier and cheaper.

I have an Oeitiker/Pex crimping tool with an assortment of rings. In the long run this may be cheaper but for someone making a repair or a few changes the Sharkbite will be much cheaper and easier. Even though Sharkbite fittings meet code in most cases behind walls, crimping IMO seems more permanent. My crimping tool was anything but cheap at over 70 bucks so for a quick repair Sharkbite is the way to go.

I originally was going to go the crimp route but once I saw the crimping tool was over $55 and I only had a few connections to do, the push on connectors made more sense.

I'll ask Santa for a Crimp set for Christmas so I can Sharkbite future projects.

I'd much rather use Sharkbites (or Gatorbites) then crimping.

So much easier IF/when you want to change anything or have another problem.

Yeah...bit more expensive but I like the fact that you can remove & reuse the connectors.

I keep a long length of tubing, plus crimps and a crimping tool, in my tool collection under the bed. A real lifesaver when you have that dripping pipe under the sink...
