Well I had an interesting afternoon. I went to do my final walk through and test drive on my new to me 2003 bounder 38U diesel pusher. They had it plugged into shore power when we got there. It was nice and cool inside and about 104 out side. This let us check all the systems. I was impressed with how much ice the freezer had made in a fairly short time. Everything was going just fine we finished the out side and disconnected the shore power and started the gen to get ready for a test drive. We were waiting for a teck to put on the plates and do a minor maintenance item (the awning over the door was not moving smoothly and trying to hang up, the teck that was helping was spraying some lub on the pivot points). Well while we were setting in the nice cool coach the generator quit. Tried to restart but it ran about 5 min and quit. Tried this a couple of times. Tried checking the oil level fuel was at ½ tank. The teck tried changing the fuel filter. Then they tried hooking up a different fuel source no luck. Interesting as we had run the generator earlier in the week when we were talking to the sales man for problem 45 min to one hour. Worked great. They are taking it to have it fixed Monday, as they don’t have any one who knows how to work on diesel generators. Well the good news is it quit in their lot before I singed the papers not on the road some place lol.

That's great. Sucks that you are waiting for it, but great it happened before you bought it!

If the inverter is set up with an "auto generator start" function and the gen start and gen stop are programmed in, it will cut the generator when the batteries hit a pre programmed level. If you restart it will just do it again & again. The fix is to disable the auto gen stop function.
Don't ask how I know this.

It's good it happened that way on their lot, so its their problem. Looks like you lucked out on that one.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Glad it happened when it did. I have found enthuism to fix problems goes away after you leave the lot. Future buyers take note. The walk through is vitally important to be sure all is well prior to completeing the deal. Thanks for sharing

I know our generator and Air Condition useage, works this way. I MUST let the generator run about 5 minutes with no load then add load an it runs fine, If I add load immediatly, it will shut down a few times in a row.

I don't think it should work that way, JMHO. should be able to start it and once the tranfer switch is make, should be ready to run a load on it. Once all transfer circuts are made. Gary

This is good advice. Whenever I have a question I always go back to the video first. It has helped me a few times already.
