RE: tow dolly and breaking systems

They don't make differant axles for brakes or no brakes. They put brakes on some and don't put brakes on some so if you wanted to add brakes you could. Electric brakes would be easyer and cheaper to add than surge brakes.

RE: Demco Kar Kaddy

IMHO the Kar Kaddy SS is the best car dolly made. I had mine delivered to my house and the only problem I had was the truck didn't have a lift gate and we had to uncrate it to get it off the truck. 600+lbs.

RE: Ok, what happened?

You most likely have a 4 battery pack for the house and 2 for the engine. It is important to know how old the batterys are. If they are 4 years old just replace them this is most likely the problem. The alternator only puts out from 150 amps to 300 amps and while the batterys are charging they are using part of this and so is the engine and any acc. that are on. While you where driving the alt is puting out max amps so when you tryed to start the gen. it just took power away from the engine system. When at a stop with the engine idleing the alt was not puting out max. so when you tryed to start the gen. it took all the electrical power from the engine and it died. If the alternator was bad it would not have ran as long as it did. It's not that complicated just remember K.I.S.S.

RE: Awning

Even if you tie them down (manual or electric) the wind can and will rip them off.

RE: National Rv owners R U Happy?

I own a 2005 Dolphin and am very happy with it. The basement AC/Heatpump works great and I have not had any problems with the MH or the AC unit. IMHO they are the best buy for the money.

RE: Remember the houses built AROUND the rv's?

I drew an idea I had for a small house with a porch on the front,a living room and kitchen on th first floor,a bedroom and bath on the second level. The RV was parked behind the kitchen and living room and half under the second level with a hall and ramp going to the RV door and was used as a guest room. The guy I drew it for did have the plans drawn up but I don't know if he ever built it.

RE: Engine AC & propane vs rooftop & generator while driving?

On my MH it cost me about the same eather way but it depends how much you have to pay for propane and gas. Next time you take a long trip fill your propane and after a fue hundred miles refill it to see how much your refrig. used in that distance. Refill the gas tank and run the generator to see how much it efects your milage. This should give you the answer you want.

RE: Onan Generator: Fix or Replace?

If you do buy a new generator consider the Honda RV generator. It is water cooled and is the quietest RV generator I have ever heared.

RE: Sewer hose support in Florida?

Some areas require them because the hose can develope small leaks and with the hose laying on the sandy ground you wouldn't notice it.

RE: Workhorse Air Intake and rain

On my 05 Dolphin I had the same problem and the water was coming in around the hood opening. I installed a rubber bulb seal around the opening and have not had the problem again and that was two years ago.

RE: Leaf Spring Frame Mounts

In most cases the axle is put in this position for a reason. Not to make the trailer higher but for tire or axle clearance. The pipe is there to give the mount vertical stregth. To lower it 4in. you would have to move the shacle end 4ins. also. They make the pin box adjustable for this reason and I don't know of any adverse efect raising the pin box would have.

RE: MPG for RVing versus flying

When you fly to your destination you see clouds and air and hope you don't have any surprises. When you travel in your RV you see the countryside and hope you do see somthing surprising.

RE: receiver into hitch????

I can not recomend welding or drilling on the receive hitch. The bar and receiver are designed to have movement to prevent the it from seizing in the receiver.

RE: Oil Filter for Vortec engine

The most important thing you should consider when choosing an oil filter is the ability of the material it is made of to filter the oil. The second thing is the ability of the filter to flow as much of the oil through the filter material as posible. At 2000 RPM the engine pumps x amount of oil to the oil filter and at 4000 RPM it pumps nearly twice as much and what can't pass through the filter material is bypassed and not filtered at all. For this reason I use the napa gold 1794 that give you the largest filter material posible. PS. the 8.1 does not need a bleedback checkvalve because the filer is mounted verticly

RE: MH very slow going up hills

It's not a fuel filter or fuel delivery problem if it pumps 16 oz. in 5 sec.
If it's not missing or bucking, it's probably not plugs or wires.
I would check the ignition timing and advance.
Might want to check for blocked catalytic converter. These are good suggestions. If it had a trans problem you wouldn't have made it to the top.

RE: Gluing Hinges

Auto body suppy stores will have what you want. Today they don't weld body panels on they glue them on with a special apoxy. With this apoxy every thing else will break before the apoxy comes loose.

RE: Parts from Car Quest

I went into my local Carquest for an "O" ring for my kitchen faucet.
The kid asked what kind of car the "O" ring was going on so he could look it up on his computer. I told him a Price Pfister. He said who makes that and what year is it?
Hmmm... The system is only as good as it's opperator.

We like Cody's Roadhouse for lunch or dinner. They have great specials and have many locations. We go to the V.F.W. for friday night fish fries and if you look around there are a lot of small resterants to choose from.
