RE: new to generators and have a question

well this "G" genny is as quite as a Honda. couldnt tell the 2 apart at the last ballgame.....just half the price. i can get it for $465....
While it may well be fine for your needs, I would bet it is not a quiet as a Honda or Yamaha. I have a 2000 watt Honeywell that looks alot like that Generac. For the money I paid(300.00) it is worth it, but it doesn;t start, idle, run, or perform like my Honda. They are cheap alternatives, but you get what you pay for. Best of luck.

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

I was very happy, when i got mine, and when it 'the first one' quit making power i took it in for service and they replaced it.
well the replacement is not longer working proper, its currently putting out low voltage, 45 volts at idle, I was running and the batteries were charging and we had a small 120v fan on, all of sudden the fan quit, the generator change sound then the display on the MW went out.
nothing smells burned, but the fan is dead and the MW is dead, yes i pulled it, the 15 amp fuse is good, there is power to the fuse, the control board quit.
all circuit breakers , GFI and everything else is find, the rest of the RV works fine from the Champion generator or the Onan,
but the HW generator is now useless and i have to replace the built in MicroWave
I will take the HW to the shop in a few days ( still covered by warranty ), but when it comes back, i'm getting rid of it, once I can tolerate, things happen, BUT twice along with my MW is just too much, i'll mark this up as experience and go back to using my champion.
Finally saw the light Huh ? Again for 299.00 it wasn't a bad deal if you get one that runs decent, but it makes me appreciate my RED one all the more.

RE: Yamaha 3000iseb

When you say OT. What does that mean ? Is it overheating or tripping on overload ? Do a search for WISE equipment sales. Call them and ask them if they know anything about it. Let us know what you find out.

As I have stated before. For 299.00 I am OK with mine, but Honda needn't worry bout being put out of business. Keep us updated and best of luck.

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

How bad was taking it apart and getting it back together ? Did parts want to spring out all over the place ? I would have thought that it would have made it less noisy. Has anyone tried to put a regular primer in place of the one they have on it that will shoot gas into the carb. Other that hard to start mine seems to be OK for the money.
Ain't no HONDA though !!

RE: Onan 7000 stops after 15 minutes consistently

Try unplugging the Wires to the oil level sending unit and running it to see what happens. It could be a bad oil sender.

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

I too have thought of adding insulation, actually I was going to use Pig Mat Absorbent material. It is very thin yet fibrous. I was going to use silicon (RTV) to glue it to the plastic interior. That way I could remove it cleanly if it doesn't work out. I am afraid of overheating but I suppose as long as the air vents are open I should be OK.
Private Pilot,
Let us know how you make out.
Mine has been OK. I have to prime the hell out of it to start it and it does wander at idle, but it performs OK when I load it up.
So far I think it is great for 299.00 but it sure don't start or run like my HONDA !!

RE: Quieting down a generator

I have a Honda EU3000 and to say that it is as loud with econo mode off as a Champion is not true. It is louder than when econo mode is on, but still quieter that anything else besides a Yamaha. I recently bought a Home Depot Honeywell 2000i and it is pretty decent in econo mode but fairly noisy with econo off. But I knew it wasn't a Honda or Yamaha when I bought it.

RE: Yamaha 2400 or Honda 2000

I own a Honda EU3000 and Love Hondas, but in your case I would go with the Yamaha. They are just as good and you have a little more power. Can't go wrong either way but of the two mentioned I think the 2400 is the better value.

RE: Honeywell Inverter Generators

I bought a Honeywell 2000i at the Depot for 299.00 last week. I think it is a good deal for the money. I also have a Honda EU3000is and there is quite a bit of difference in the way they start and run and sound. You do get what you pay for.
Peace

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

I have a Honda EU3000is I bought after Hurricane Katrina to back feed my home. It works great. I paid 1670.00 for it. I was in Home Depot last week and stumbled upon the Honeywell HW2000i for 299.00. I went home and returned later and bought it as a back up and for my elderly Dad should he need it. Ii is not a Honda , but I feel that it is a good value for the money. I have back feed my house with the HW and it did ok to run my fridge and 6000.00 BTU window unit and a couple lights. So far so good...
