RE: Generator mouse house

Actually one day was a double-header. One in each trap.
I use the Victors with the yellow fake looking cheese paddle, Not the metal tab. They have to step on it to get to the bait in the middle.

Generator mouse house

Thought I'd throw this at the members since it's that time of the year.
I live in the country and I've got a Generac 5g in my class A which is pretty much open on the bottom.
While changing the gen. oil a few weeks ago I found mouse turds on an angle iron in the compartment and set some traps. I've read the wire eating nightmares on this forum. In 12 days I've caught 5 mice with peanut butter and will keep the traps set the rest of the winter.
I also put the square green mouse poison baits behind each tire since that's the only way up to the frame. Hopefully all my effort will prevent any damage. Act accordingly and happy hunting!!!

RE: Dash guages not working

I'm sure your wire jungle is color coded. Manufacturers don't usually supply much of a wiring diagram with the owner's information other than fuse values and numbering.
Request a schematic from Newmar customer service and go from there. You have to know which are the ground wires before connecting a known good ground to them. Good luck.

RE: Generac Help

See if the gen is getting fuel by disconnecting the fuel line @ the carb to see if the pump is putting out.
Check your oil level. Low level will cause the gen to shut down. High level may cause oil frothing with bubbles. When the bubbles reach the pump the pressure drops.
Some gens shut down when the regulator does not detect voltage output.

RE: slow started hot battery cables melting battery posts

I'm with bushey...I don't believe a bad battery connection would allow enough juice to melt the wires. The fault is in the load not the source.

RE: Need help with reefer before all my food goes bad! PLEASE.

Running your fridge on LP requires the thermocouple current in any position of the switch. It's not required for electric operation. I'm thinking you can rule it out. Consider yourself lucky it's still working on auto mode because there shouldn't be any difference to the burner etc. in either mode.

RE: Class A dash a/c broke and repair estimate

Yes, it's a new compressor. Compressor alone was $700.00 + shipping from Washington. Mechanic didn't have a source for a rebuild of this type.
I already bit the bullet and gave him the go ahead to order it since I'm planning on keeping the beast for a few more years.
The price seemed a little high since the last compressor I had installed (2002) was in a car and about half that price.

RE: Florida Keys

I agree with the day trip. We fought tooth and nail for a reservation at Bahia Honda SP and finally got a two week stay after 3 years of trying. Yeah the water is turquoise but we were ready to leave after a week. One day in Key West was enough for us and once you take US 1 to the end, it's the same road and sites on the way back so take your time on the way in. You have to see Mallory Square once but don't splash in the puddles cause they might be recycled grapes from a wino.
We toured many other campgrounds down there. A few charged as low as $55 a night. W thought they were much closer to a ghetto than a resort.
Won't be back anytime soon.

Class A dash a/c broke and repair estimate

Oh, boy, it's been a while since I had any repairs done on automotive a/c. I'm a little shocked at the estimate...does this sound reasonable?
Mechanic found leaks in the compressor and a switch near the condenser. He showed me the black light dye stains on both. Estimate for diagnosis, labor, recharge freon, new compressor and new switch is $1400.00. 1 year guarantee. The a/c system installed on the motor home is ACME.

You've seen this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGUiZu5zGLM
"New to RVing" posted here but I can't find the thread.
I'm still trying to figure out how he "almost got killed". :h
Looks to me like a broken windshield.
I was anticipating the square inches and metric equivalent of damage and the number of glass shards ejected into the interior.
Give me a rope so I can hang myself before the video ends.

I have a Carrier ducted and had Coleman and Dometic ducteds. All of them were irritatingly loud while watching TV within 10 feet of the unit.

RE: Delamination

Chances of you getting lucky and
1. finding everything hidden in the walls is normal,
2. caulking the cracks and they seal up with no more cracking or leaking,
3. finding the frame of the 5th wheel is not cracked
IS DREAMING. Get that rv out of your mind and move on.

RE: Places to stay in Florida in Jan, Feb and march.

Florida has some great state parks.
Some of our Favorites:
Suwannee River Sp
Silver River SP
Hillsborough River SP
St Andrews SP
We prefer state parks. They are usually pretty busy in the winter but they always keep a few sites available for drive-ins. But of course someone may have beat you.
Been going there 5 years now and found the state parks near the coast in southern Fla. pretty impossible to get into w/o a reservation. The non-coast central Fla. SPs are usually booked up on weekends but you may be able to get a 5 day stay Sun -- Thurs w/o moving sites.
I haven't stayed in the panhandle yet but may try some parks this winter.

RE: Damon owners, are u happy?

04 Daybreak bought new. I've had some problems that were ironed out during warranty but nothing that any other MH wouldn't have go wrong.
Prevosts are built on Fridays also.
