RE: Decal replacement

I think I would not put it on but include it as "bonus" with the sale of the trailer at no extra charge. :W That way, the new owners can be responsible for getting it on to their liking. Barney

RE: P3 reports "Overload", Primus works perfectly.

I don't have an answer to your question but the search function is working fine, and has been for a long time. Perhaps you are not using it correctly? If you need some help, send me a PM. Barney

RE: Under Carrage Rust

Go to Tractor Supply and get some Rust Cutter Spray or brush/roll it on the chassis (make SURE you wear a respirator mask!), let dry for a few hours, and then paint over it with a Rustoleum type paint. I did the above to my trailer chassis about 3 or 4 years ago and it still looks great today. It was quite rusted before that. Barney

RE: WD front end is light

To answer your specific question, the proper adjustment to make would be to add washers to get more tilt on the hitch head. If you raise the L brackets, which you say are now set for level bars, the bars will then not lay flat on the brackets and contact them at the edge. This will reduce the sway control, make noise, and contribute to faster wear on the brackets and bars. It may also tend to make the bracket mounts "creep" or twist on the A frame. Barney

RE: Counting propane as tongue weight.

Three pages on a simple topic that is now becoming argumentative and with people repeating themselves. Time to put this one to bed. Barney

RE: Jordan 2000-2020 users, need advice

Can you even buy this brake control any more? I thought they went out of business or something like that. No you cannot. They were bought out by (I think) Camco but Camco never put it on the market again. Too bad! Barney

RE: Fifth Wheel Capabilities Truck

Snip... I still feel like a fifth wheel will be a better towing experience compared to a 35 foot travel trailer. Am I wrong to assume that? I wish I had diesel but it was not in my budget for the new truck. If you are presently towing with a Hensley hitch then NO, the towing experience will not be any better with a 5th wheel and could be worse. There are other reasons for going to a 5th wheel from a TT towed with a Hensley but towing experience is not one of them. :) Barney

RE: Cruise control

I agree with both of the above unless your owners manual recommends against it - which I doubt. Barney

RE: Hitch Bar

Nothing wrong at all with the extra room as long as the truck handles well. Many people would give their left arm to have that much extra room! :W This extra distance will allow you to turn sharper without worrying about hitting the trailer with the truck, and allow you to lower the tailgate and work back there without unhooking the trailer. I would not complain as long as the truck can handle it ok. Consider yourself lucky! :) Barney

RE: I just ordered a back up mirror

DRUM - I love the way RV NET handles the attached photos. They give you good control on the picture size. Some of the other forums don't have this and you have to size the picture yourself before adding as an attachment. gets complicated... You didnt have to delete the photo - Under ADVANCED POST FORM just select the IMAGE ICON and fill in the blanks for your photo to be added. just fill in the HEIGHT entry as 200,300, up to 600 only - don't fill in the WIDTH entry leave it blank. Roy Ken That may be correct for that particular photo BUT: For most normal photos just put 640 (or any smaller number) in the "width" box (NOT the "height" box. Leave the "height" box empty. The forum software will then properly size your picture. If you photo is taller than wide, as when you take a picture with the camera tilted 90 degrees, then you can put the number in the "height" box and leave the other one empty. If you put 640 into the "height" box on a normal picture then the width will be way too wide and cause many members to have to scroll left and right to read the posts on that page. Keep in mind that you can use any number that is smaller than 640. Barney

RE: Most reliable connector. semi 7 pin or RV blade ?

I don't quite understand the dislike of the standard connector. I have been towing trailers for quite a few years and have never had a single problem come up due to the connector between the trailer and the truck. I think the majority of the members on this forum would probably say the same. I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill. :W Barney

I agree with Ron's post also and will be anxious to read what they have to say. This is what I have felt all along, and said so earlier in this thread back on Page 2, although not as complete as Ron's post. :W Barney

RE: Need advice on toy hauler swaying on freeway

When using the tongue weight scale, be careful that you get the weight pressing STRAIGHT DOWN on the scale. It is very easy, when you put the device under the coupler, to have it just a very small bit off center of the coupler which will cause sticktion in scale and throw off the reading quite a bit. Good idea to take several readings in succession to make sure it is consistant. Barney

RE: Where to buy Torklift Propane lock?

Torklift sells direct if you can't find it locally. Look Here I'm not so sure they do sell directly. The link that says "buy it now" on their website goes to a list of states and then to a list of dealers in the state. I saw no place on the website to purchase directly from them. Barney

RE: Need advice on toy hauler swaying on freeway

Okay, now you're scaring the heck out of me. :) Guess I still have a lot to learn. I would have thought that if the truck by itself weighed 5000 lbs without a trailer and 5500 lbs with one, the TW would be 500 lbs. 5500-5000=500? True, if you have the trailer sitting on a regular ole hitch ball. Not the case with weight distribution, since the trailer axles have to react the same moment which picks up the back of the truck and put weight on the front axle. So, assuming it was a WD Hitch, would the TW be more or less than 500 lbs.? It would be less. It would be around 400lbs if you weighed it with the WD hitched up. The extra 100lbs would be found on the trailer axles because the chains on the WD hitch are pulling down on the trailer A frame at the same time they are pulling up on the bars. Barney
