RE: MVPRV ENVY TOYHAULER
Is MVP still honoring factory warranty?
There is no MVP left to honor the factory warranty, all the compenents will have their individual warranties.
RE: remodel vs upgrade
I would only do the upgrades if you enjoy doing it and plan on keeping it for a while. I don't believe you will get the upgrade $$$ back. You would be better off selling it now and taking the profit (sell yours for $7-8k) you made and the $1500-2000 you want to spend and getting a newer nicer trailer (front sleeper). You can get a 2000-2003 or so front sleeper with a gen and fuel station for around $10-12k.
RE: My new toy
The best way to figure you chain adjustment is the pull the shock and then put the swingarm through its motion. Adjust so at its tightest point there should be very little, almost no slack. Then put the shock back on and see how loose the chain is (will be much looser than a jap bike) figure out a way to measure it and keep it adjusted to that amout of slack. For the sag you measure the static sag and then the rider sag to see where is should be and adjust the preload of the spring accordingly, if you fall outside the adjustment you will need a stiffer or softer spring accordingly. KTMTalk has a suspension section you can get the sag numbers from.
RE: Any tips for Private Party selling my TH
I have sold 2 TH on craig's list. Like they say above put in detailed info and be honest in the descrition. I don't think it is acurate that you have to put it at a bargin price, you do have to price it correctly, do your research, and then be fairly firm on that price. I only listed them in the Orange County part of CL and they both sold to people pretty far away.
The first trailer I sold was the a couple from Salt Lake City, they drove 10 hours and then deadheaded right back home with the trailer, I imagine it was scary travelling with all that cash.
The second one the guy bought in sight unseen, he sent a friend that did deliveries for a RV dealer so he knew RVs. His freind checked everything out and called the buyer before handing me the cashier's check. We then took the check to the bank to make sure it was good before I would sign the title over. He came all the way from the Portland area and he planned on travelling a few hours back and then sleeping in the TH before going on.
RE: Warrior Lifestyles Experience
Nice, that is the same unit I have in the class A, not just an inverter but also a converter/charger. Now you just need a couple more batteries. Make sure to take it off invert when running the gen or when not using (like while sleeping) they do suck up the power from the batteries.
RE: Desert camping w/ freezing temps
I have had no problems down to 18 degrees with a tow behind, with the tanks and water lines exposed. It needs to be below freezing for a long time to get them to freeze due to the ambient heat given off by the heat of the TH.
RE: Annual Maintenance Cost
I would average it to about $700 per year, some years more and some less. I had my DP oil, filter, chassis lube, gen oil, filter, fuel filter all done this year for about $350, but when I need the trans service and an air filter and axel lube changed I expect it to be more and then the valve adjustment....so that is about where I feel it will average out until the tires are old.
I am sure that are others here with more experience that will chime in.
RE: New Format
Remember it is free
It is free but if the members don't like it and decide to use another forum the $$$$ they make from the ad space will decline so if they want us to stick around, we do have a voice.
Yes, there need to be a way to move to the next page w/o scrolling to the top or all the way to the bottom with the ads running down the side.
RE: Price on used RV
I emailed a private seller about their price, and this is what I got.
I'm starting out at that price because thats what it's worth. I have researched others and even went to rv sales and looked at what they were asking for used units. This is a VERY good RV and everything works great. It has been taken care of and pampered.
If you're looking for someone to give you one, you're looking in the wrong place. I don't have to sell it. I would entertain any reasonable offer. Again, REASONABLE..............
The rv in question is Link.
What would be a reasonable offer?
This is Pursuit and the low retail value is 19820, high is 23880 with no options added in.
Based on where his price (very high) is and what NADA has I don't think there is a reasonable offer that you could make that he would accept.
I would do a seach on all the for sale sites for that specific model and if they are all in the range of his, make an offer of high NADA (he most likely won't even accept that), but if they are more in line with NADA then you have to make a much lower offer and be prepared to back it up with your research.
RE: Price on used RV
Wow. That is low... What about adding options, should I consider that?
Don't figure in any options and I wouldn't pay more than NADA wholesale in this market, the guide bases the value on a standard pre determined depriciation, not actual market value. IMO the guide is way off on values in this market.
RE: WW FS2500 Weight & Equalizer Hitch Suggestion
Just get the 12,000 lbs one that way if you ever get a biiger trailer you are set. It is not going to hurt anything going with more than you need but going with less tahn you need is not desirable.
RE: Choices for side-entry Toyhaulers?
Friends have the cougar, they have had it about 2 years, as far as I know they haven't had any major issues. They had to add a propane generator and no fuel station. I don't think a BMW or any large road bike will fit sideways though, also the ramp angle is very steep whick could give you problems loading as well.
RE: Thanksgiving
Wow Bob - How many were in your group?
Rough guess, around 100 ??
He showed up as we were playing some games on the bikes (slow race/kick the can/blindfold), hung around for awhile, left, came back Sunday and cited the prez :(
I have been to Spangler area at least a dozen times and have NEVER seen a BLM Ranger, Last T G We saw a Sheriff who was just cruising around the "cattle guard" area. Over at Jawbone, we always saw BLM Rangers
.
Not to panic anyone, just make sure its not too organized :W
I saw your group out there and counted around 25 rigs, I was at the FF and rode over because some friends might be there (not in your group). I will be at the same general spot as your club was at for TG, just like last year, hope it is not as crowded, last year there was a group across from us that brought out a 60' flatbed and used it as the stage for the band. They also had a bobcat that they used to load firewood on the fire, there wood pile was about 20' X 20' and 8 foot high.
RE: My new toy
If you are going to do a lot of street riding the gearing you set up is great, if mostly off road I think most run 14/52 but it is really a personal preference. Tire, that depends too, do you want to have "legal" duel sport tires (most don't) or dirt tires, for dirt I run a dunlop 756 or the new MX51 up front. On the rear a good long lasting tire is the Maxxis Desert IT, but I really like the IRC M5B, it has huge nobbies and hooks up real well, wears a little faster than the Maxxis. Check out KTMTalk.com there is wealth of info.
RE: Rv accident in Indianapolis
The reason that 99% of people are against this is that it would just end up being a money grab by the states, just like anything else in the history of government.
They would probably charge 500 bucks to see if you can put it in gear.
It was $10 for each of us to upgrade to a Texas Class B.
Just like the dumb state inspections that we do in Texas. Basically it amounts to putting a sticker on your windshield and taking their $15.00
$15.00 x 20 million = $300000000. All a cash grab
If you can't afford the safety inspection to make sure that your brakes work, how are you going to afford to fix those brakes. I'm sorry, but I really think all states need to have an inspection to make sure lights, brakes, horns, etc. work, and for areas that need emission control, then those old smokers need to be inspected and taken off of the road if they can't pass. Not everyone is as conscientious and safety minded as you are.
Barb
I agree, those inspection stickers are a scam, just generating revenue for the state like the smog inspections here in cali a waste of resouces, use the $$$ to go after the big polluters like the refineries and the power companies. Motor vehices contribute about 15% of the polution and those gross poluters ane less than 1% of that 15%.
RE: what other youth quads comparable to trx90?
He will not be able to operate a clutch.
I'm even heavily preferring a full auto(CVT) tranny, over a auto clutch with gears.
Is the lt80 Green, or Red, stickered?
That was one of my requirements that I had left out in my last post.
I am only interested in finding a green stickered quad.
The LT 80 is green sticky if you get an 2002 or older. It is a great choice, it has a throttle limiter and you can buy a remote engine kill for anything. Polaris 90 might be good too but I have no experience with them, they have 2 modes on the ignition, 1 limts to 15 mph and the other is full power, I don't remember if it also has a throttle limiter again 2002 and older is green sticker.
Another thought is a polaris trailboss 200, it is fully auto but might be too much right now though and not sure it there is a way to govern it down.
RE: what other youth quads comparable to trx90?
In my opinion and experience get away from the quad idea. We got rid of all the kids quads and have the kids on bikes. My 6 yr old has 2 Cobra CXjr i 51cc and 1 61cc as well as a yamaha PW50 and loves them all. The Cobra's are for the track but he rides them in the desert as well. My 11 yr old rides Yamaha YZ85. The best thing we could have done is switch them over to two wheels. For an 8yr old I would recomend a KTM 65 great motor and suspention. Don't get a bike where your child can touch with both feet on the ground. They should be able to touch one foot and teeter to the other at the most.
We owned Chinees quads and the Raptor 80 ALL JUNK! The raptor 80 can't even get out of its own way. If your stuck on quads get a used Yamaha Blaster 200 and get rid of the oil inj. and put good smaller tires on it. We have one still and is kid friendly.
If you want a bike that is easy to learn on I would say get a Kawasaki KLX110 but be warned you have to spend a lot of $ to make it ridable. Will need a pipe, rear shock and forks just to make it worth riding. We have one as a pit bike and to loan out when the kids have friends come with us.
Quads are easy to ride and that is the big problem. When your kid goes down on a quad they will get hurt when they go down on a bike they may sitt get hurt but chances are they will get up right away. Get the right gear including a good helmet Snell/DOT, moto armor, and leatt brace and your golden.
I agree with the bike idea but don't agree on some of the other info, granted this is all providing you are going to trail ride, not track/race. I moved my youngest to a bike after she was on the quad going up a hill and it stalled, then rolled back down backwards and flipped on top of her, I have never been more scared. She was okay, and few bruises but it could have bee a lot worse.
The KLX 110 is a great bike to start on and you don't need to do any upgrades to make it rideable it is fine stock, the KX 65 is a rocketship it hits really hard. I am over 200 lbs and the front wheel comes up in the first 3 gears on the 65, I believe it is too much for a beginner for trail riding.
I also believe that for trail riding it is very important that a kid be able to touch both feet down. There are too many time kids fall over just because they can't touch on uneven ground or on a hill. The worst thing my brother did was move one of his kids to a bike that was a little too big for him, he could touch 1 foot but he ended up going from the best rider out of the kids in our group to the one that falls the most and it really messed with his confidence, took him about a year to recover (plus he grew into the bike). Touching isn't important for track riding but very important for offroad.
