RE: Rv accident in Indianapolis

The reason that 99% of people are against this is that it would just end up being a money grab by the states, just like anything else in the history of government. They would probably charge 500 bucks to see if you can put it in gear. It was $10 for each of us to upgrade to a Texas Class B. Just like the dumb state inspections that we do in Texas. Basically it amounts to putting a sticker on your windshield and taking their $15.00 $15.00 x 20 million = $300000000. All a cash grab If you can't afford the safety inspection to make sure that your brakes work, how are you going to afford to fix those brakes. I'm sorry, but I really think all states need to have an inspection to make sure lights, brakes, horns, etc. work, and for areas that need emission control, then those old smokers need to be inspected and taken off of the road if they can't pass. Not everyone is as conscientious and safety minded as you are. Barb I agree, those inspection stickers are a scam, just generating revenue for the state like the smog inspections here in cali a waste of resouces, use the $$$ to go after the big polluters like the refineries and the power companies. Motor vehices contribute about 15% of the polution and those gross poluters ane less than 1% of that 15%.

RE: What the heck...something smells bad out there...

I could also be the smell of hot wires from them being loose at the transfer switch, check all the connections for the transfer switch.

RE: what other youth quads comparable to trx90?

He will not be able to operate a clutch. I'm even heavily preferring a full auto(CVT) tranny, over a auto clutch with gears. Is the lt80 Green, or Red, stickered? That was one of my requirements that I had left out in my last post. I am only interested in finding a green stickered quad. The LT 80 is green sticky if you get an 2002 or older. It is a great choice, it has a throttle limiter and you can buy a remote engine kill for anything. Polaris 90 might be good too but I have no experience with them, they have 2 modes on the ignition, 1 limts to 15 mph and the other is full power, I don't remember if it also has a throttle limiter again 2002 and older is green sticker. Another thought is a polaris trailboss 200, it is fully auto but might be too much right now though and not sure it there is a way to govern it down.

RE: what other youth quads comparable to trx90?

In my opinion and experience get away from the quad idea. We got rid of all the kids quads and have the kids on bikes. My 6 yr old has 2 Cobra CXjr i 51cc and 1 61cc as well as a yamaha PW50 and loves them all. The Cobra's are for the track but he rides them in the desert as well. My 11 yr old rides Yamaha YZ85. The best thing we could have done is switch them over to two wheels. For an 8yr old I would recomend a KTM 65 great motor and suspention. Don't get a bike where your child can touch with both feet on the ground. They should be able to touch one foot and teeter to the other at the most. We owned Chinees quads and the Raptor 80 ALL JUNK! The raptor 80 can't even get out of its own way. If your stuck on quads get a used Yamaha Blaster 200 and get rid of the oil inj. and put good smaller tires on it. We have one still and is kid friendly. If you want a bike that is easy to learn on I would say get a Kawasaki KLX110 but be warned you have to spend a lot of $ to make it ridable. Will need a pipe, rear shock and forks just to make it worth riding. We have one as a pit bike and to loan out when the kids have friends come with us. Quads are easy to ride and that is the big problem. When your kid goes down on a quad they will get hurt when they go down on a bike they may sitt get hurt but chances are they will get up right away. Get the right gear including a good helmet Snell/DOT, moto armor, and leatt brace and your golden. I agree with the bike idea but don't agree on some of the other info, granted this is all providing you are going to trail ride, not track/race. I moved my youngest to a bike after she was on the quad going up a hill and it stalled, then rolled back down backwards and flipped on top of her, I have never been more scared. She was okay, and few bruises but it could have bee a lot worse. The KLX 110 is a great bike to start on and you don't need to do any upgrades to make it rideable it is fine stock, the KX 65 is a rocketship it hits really hard. I am over 200 lbs and the front wheel comes up in the first 3 gears on the 65, I believe it is too much for a beginner for trail riding. I also believe that for trail riding it is very important that a kid be able to touch both feet down. There are too many time kids fall over just because they can't touch on uneven ground or on a hill. The worst thing my brother did was move one of his kids to a bike that was a little too big for him, he could touch 1 foot but he ended up going from the best rider out of the kids in our group to the one that falls the most and it really messed with his confidence, took him about a year to recover (plus he grew into the bike). Touching isn't important for track riding but very important for offroad.

RE: WW FK1900 - Can't find out what one of the switches does...

Should be for the outside light on the drivers side of the trailer, maybe this model doesn't have one or the bulb is burnt out.

RE: TH Question

I have a DP and use to tow a toy hauler. Not a bad way to go if I must say but I sold the TH due to the economy. I liked the extra water in the TH and used it as a bunk house for guests and a wreck room for the kids. They could go play legos or video games with their riding gear still on, we won't allow that in the DP. Right now I have an open utility trailer for all the toys and gear but I fear a rain storm coming in the middle of the night soaking all the gear. Eventually I will get an enclosed trailer of another TH again, it is a great way to fly. My dream is to haul a toy hauler stacker with a car on the bottom and the toys up top with a full bathroom and a couple of pull down couches loaded with every tool I may never need pulled by a DP with a big engine. One can alway dream, right!

RE: what other youth quads comparable to trx90?

My sons were raised on our LT80, in fact i loved riding it too!!! Injected 2 stroke auto, never had a problem with it. Like the energizer bunny it kept going and going....One of the best quads i ever bought. :B These are great, yes it is 2 stroke but you don't have to mix the oil and gas, it does it for you. Just get an 02' or older an it will have the green sticker. It has alot more power (it can be goverend down)than the TRX 90, plus there are no gears, it is fully automatic and bullet proof reliable and e-start. The Honda is bigger size wise though and they did start offering the e-start in 07' or 08' until then you had to pull the ripcord.

RE: Fuel stop planning

Never planned a fuel stop in my life. When I NEED fuel I stop and buy it. If one station has fuel for two cents per gallon cheaper than another, GUESS which one I use :) When prices are the SAME I've avoid truck stops MOST of the time since they're just WAY to busy. With only a 58 foot rig there are few fuel stations that I can't use easily. When I've using the F-150 to tow, it has a 35 gallon tank and the diesel has 38 so fuel stops aren't all that frequent. With a two cents a gallon difference, meaning 78 cents per tank, I am GUESSING you use the one that has the easiest access, if not go see a psychiatrist.

RE: Flat tire question?

We had a TTR 125 in our group that was going through tubes a lot. The problem ended up being the weld inside the rim in the spoke area had several spots that were razor sharp and the rubber protector was not really protecting the tube. You might want to check this out. We ended up duct taping a couple of layers all the way the inside of the rim, problem solved.

RE: Can you get a power plug adapter at Home Depot?

I made one fron a 30 amp wall socket, J-box and cut the end off a 15 amp extension cord, cost me about $5.00 from Home depot.

RE: Speed Limit Signs: Do U follow Truck limits or Car limits?

On RV.net it seems like most posters here do not break the speed limit and do not go over 65 mph. On the road, it seems like most RVs do drive over 65 mph. On that note... Speed Limit Signs: Do U follow Truck limits or Car limits? None of the above.

RE: Power Gear Hydraulic leveling jacks 2008 Fleetwood Discovery

There is a manual override at the top of the jacks, a standard hex head that you can turn with a rachet.

RE: Fleetwood Goes to All Spartan Chassis on DPs

Thanks for the responses. Fleetwood guarantees that the specs on the Spartan chassis will exceed the specs on the FL chassis. It appears to be the Mountain Master chassis with a 12000 FGAWR and a 20000 rear GAWR. The hitch is a 10,000 lb with a 1,000 tongue rating, 350 cummins ISB, Allison 3000 tranny, and even though it will be 2010 chassis, they do not have to comply with 2010 EPA emissions until they are physically built after 1/2010. It will also have the VIP smart wheel, which the FL did not have. Looks to be a win win for me. Downside is that I won't get the FL gas saver rebate. Is there another engine option? The ISB is basically what powers the dodge trucks and if I recall it has only 670 ft/lbs of torque. Not going to cut it if you plan on towing up any grades.

RE: Burning problem

Could be a bad transfer switch of loose wires at the connector.

RE: Fleetwood Goes to All Spartan Chassis on DPs

The company that bought fleetwood also has a company that builds fire trucks, on spartan chassis so it makes sense that moving the MH over to Spartan they can increase their buying power (more units at a lower price)and be more profitable overall. I would not hesitate at all over the switch from the Freightliner to the Spartan.

RE: Costco now selling pressure pro

Hope Pressure Pro undertands that it is a restraint of trade to require dealers to charge a certain price for a product. After all, the "S" in MSRP stands for "suggested". Maybe someone needs to call the FTC? Until they were recently bought out Oakley did this on their sunglasses and several other companies do this as well, it it their right to decide who they sell through and do whatever it takes to protect their brand's value. Many companies are not allowing retailers to adversite anything but MSRP on the internet or they will be banned from reselling that product in the future and this is all done through dealer agreements.

RE: Buying Online - info needed

You could finance it so all the paperwork is done by the dealer, they feel safe, you feel safe. Then when you get home just pay it off.
