RE: Creede colorado

Agree with Polly Sue, both roads are fine. Try to visit the Creede Repertory Theatre while there, lots of fun. Mountain View RV park is a great rv park in area, and worth it to pay a little more and face Rio Grande river. Clear Creek falls is a must see, and not too far from Creede.

RE: Winnebago View Profile Community

Dakzuki: thanks for the info on the noise. If you had to do it again would you go with diesel or lpg? I am leaning towards diesel. Thanks.

RE: Winnebago View Profile Community

JeffandMaria: you are correct when you say there are 2014s and "2014s". It seems some of the new 2014s in Colorado are left over 2013s dressed up as 2014. The new 2014 specs include a two door, 6 cu ft fridge, patio awning with led lights, A/C is upgraded to 15,000btu from 13,500btu. If it doesn't have those upgrades, then it is a 2013. Fridge and A/C are important to me, led lights on awning not so much. We are looking at Reyo and same changes apply. Look at the fridge as you walk in and you will know right away.

RE: Winnebago View Profile Community

According to the Cummins/Onan specs, the sound level for both diesel and lpg generators is 68dB(A). Don't know about the smell. We are considering the VIA/REYO and would prefer the diesel generator since it is easier to find diesel than lpg on the backroads away from the highway. For me it fits in the category as nice to have but not essential. If I get a great deal on an rv with a lpg, then I would buy it. Specs also show lpg consumption as 0.6gal/hr at half load and 0.7gal/hour at full load. Diesel is 0.3gal/hr at half load and 0.4gal/hr at full load. The View has 13 gal capacity lpg tank and 26 gal capacity for diesel. Hope this helps.

RE: Lichtsinn RV, No Discount!

wnytaxman & executive: Thanks for your posts since it has made me look at my spreadsheet and see if I was missing anything. The first column is price of new rv, second is trade-in value and third is difference of 1 and 2. I think we are all saying the same thing that the price difference is the key. Love this forum since it makes you think about what you are doing and make sure you are doing it properly. Thanks for all your help. rr2254545: I was not kicking the tires. There was a very long phone call with Lichtsinn including lots of personal and financial data from me and they knew I was serious and close to making a purchase.

RE: Lichtsinn RV, No Discount!

wnytaxman: BUT the constant in the equation is that most dealers will offer NADA Wholesale on the trade. If they don't, then it is time to walk. This makes the variable in the equation the selling price of the new unit. You are looking at it as the trade-in price as a variable. Past and current experience tells me that the NADA Wholesale trade-in is a constant among dealers I have talked with. Even my local Winnebago and Itasca dealers will offer NADA Wholesale PLUS a discount on the new unit. I guess the point of my original post was that I had heard so many good things on this forum about Lichtsinn and about their discounts, that I was very surprised and disappointed on the final offer. The message is clear: shop around, get many quotes and get the best deal. It is out there, I just have to find it. Love the Internet. Good talking with you wnytaxman.

RE: Lichtsinn RV, No Discount!

wnytaxman: By focusing on one number, the cash difference after the trade, is exactly how car dealers and rv dealers try to confuse people and get them to pay top dollar. They put everything into one bundle and say look how little you have to pay for this expensive car/rv. If discounts are irrelevant to you when there is a trade in the mix, then I would love to sell you your next rv or car! It is important to know two numbers, trade-in value and how much the dealer will come down off the sticker price. That way you know if you are getting the best prices for the old rv AND the new rv. Lichtsinn offered a little below NADA Wholesale on the trade, which was what I expected and seems to be what most dealers will work with. In my previous rv purchase, I have received NADA Wholesale on the trade and a discount on the sticker price. If you cannot get NADA Wholesale for your trade and a discount off MSRP, it is time to move on.

RE: Lichtsinn RV, No Discount!

Trackrig: You are correct, when the list price (MSRP) is the bottom price then there is no discount, and it doesn't matter.

Lichtsinn RV, No Discount!

I did a lot of research on this forum about buying a new 2013/2014 Winnebago/Itasca and read good things about Lichtsinn RV on the buying/financing process and discounts. After going through the lengthy buying/finance part of the process with them, I was surprised when they said the MSRP is the selling price, no discounts. However, they said my credit rating is good so I can get 3.99% financing! Wow, What a deal. I questioned them on this and they would not budge. Basically it was take it or leave it. Obviously, I shall leave it. Even the local Itasca/Winnebago dealers in Colorado offer a discount off MSRP upfront and are open to negotiations. I don't know why, but my experience with Lichtsinn was totally the opposite of what others on this forum have reported. Now I am totally confused and perplexed!

RE: Goodyear RV Tire site pressures sound right?

My Fleetwood had the GY G670s and the front weights are 4,468 and 4,619 lbs and the rear is 7,942 and 7,800 lbs. With the GY I kept the tires at 105 front and 95 rear. It is higher than the charts, but not much and gives a good ride. I am now riding on replacement Firestone on the rear and Michelin on the front, but using the same pressure.

RE: Newmar question

We did the Newmar factory tour last year and there is only one production line where they build everything from the King Aire to the smallest gas model. The difference is the parts which go in at each workstation, but they are installed by the same people. As on all model ranges the fix and fittings are different for each model line, but the quality of build with the Newmar is the same for all models. Very impressive factory tour. They were building an Essex, Dutch Star, Bay Star some Ventanas, and one of their last fifth wheels when we were there. My DW says our next motorhome will be a Newmar and I agree.

RE: Diesel on I-880 Bay Area

Thanks for the help. Campguy, I do have The Next Exit, but no truck stops listed for I-880. Also have gas buddy app and not too helpful for rv. DAT trucker app is domewhat helpful. Thanks again to all.

Diesel on I-880 Bay Area

Currently near Greenbrae CA and looking for truck stop/diesel on I-880 south headed to Paso Robles. Gilroy Garlic Farm sounds ok. Others could be on 880 25s, GG petroleum, 39a GG petroleum, or 33 San Leandro, Pacific Pride. Any suggestions or comments appreciated. 38 foot mh towing Jeep.

RE: Which wax?

I used to use NuFinish twice a year to wax coach, but it was hard work and took a few days. Now I use Turtle Wax 1 Step Wash and Dry, or Lucas Slick Mist after every wash. I alternate between the two and just spray on as I dry the rv. The Turtle Wax has carnauba in it and Slick Mist is a "...polymer paint gloss intensifier, which can be used on other surfaces such as glass, chrome and vinyl decals." Any rain just beads off the rv and the shine is incredible. My own opinion is that the TW gives it a deep reflective shine and the SM gives it a high gloss polish look. Very simple and not a lot of hard work. I also do the same with our cars. TW is available in WalMart for under $5 and SM is available at auto parts stores and is about $8.

RE: Tire Replacement on Class A Goodyear or Michelin

Just replaced the 4 rear G670s on my 2008 Expedition after 32,000 miles. Front tires were also Goodyear G670 and had rivering on them so I had to replace them last year. 275/70R 22.5 Firestone for $378 each plus installation and tax. Total bill for 4 tires was $1,856.
