RE: 14' garage and 5000 CCC?

If you can hold to a shorter 5th with HD frame, is towing doubles out of the question? Stepping down from the 31' MH may be your challenge.

RE: What is the purpose of airbags for trucks?

Hello Animal Planet,
Yes to 5th wheels. We have a '06 Megacab and Raptor 5th wheel. The rear end squats causing the headlights to not iluminate the road at night and gives oncoming traffic the impression that I am driving with the high beams on. Also left little travel before hitting the bump stops creating a rougher ride.
I installed the bags and inflate with 40 lbs of air and ride level. Ride is also smoother. Easy install if you have the tools.

RE: Replacing Door Catch

In that you are speaking of an exterior compartment catch to hold the compartment door open, I agree with SkipNChar. The product between the catch and the side of your RV is most likely plumbers putty, or plumbers putty tape.
You can find this at most hardware stores.

RE: Vinyl plank flooring in RV?

I have heard that the commercial Vinyl Plank material can be difficult to cut, but generally warmth makes the vinyl more pliable.

RE: Picking Up Trash on Gecko Road

I would like to build upon what Blue_ToyHauler started and say: "This is what closes area to recreational use".
It is rather unfortunate that individuals can be so careless and inconsiderate as to how others may be impacted by their actions. Those deserving of the recreational activities suffer while the careless continue in their ways and ignore the closed areas.
Thanks to You, HotSki2, for looking out for the rest of us!

RE: Searching for Satellite Input Problem

I think that the problem is that the Winegard dish is not pointed at the satellite. IE it cannot just be pointed at the sky to get a signal.
With the box connected to the TV, Box and TV on, go to Set-up, then Installation, then Position. Enter the information to tell the box where you are located and it will provide you with a compass heading and elevation to adjust you dish to receive the signal. Turn up the volume on your TV so that you can hear the beeping that corrresponds to signal strength. You want the greatest number of bars possible.
Of course, all this said does not mean that there is not a problem with the dish or cables.
Also has the Direc TV box been connected to the proper antenna outlet in your RV?
Good Luck!

RE: Fire in RV what to get

You are in the drivers seat on this one!
Sorry, If you have the money, you are in control of where you go. Prices in general are down from what they were only 1 year ago.
What is your desire and ability? Do you have a place to maneuver and park a trailer? Have you missed not having a car/truck to zip around in once you get where you are going?
The insurance company is not likely going to do you any favors in the decision they make.
Do you need to buy new? Would you be happy with a used MH or trailer? Lenders have a lot of vehicles which they have recovered and need to get rid of. Contact your bank and find out what they may have.
Sorry for your situation. I hope all works out for the best.

RE: Shore power plug popping GFI

Hello 400Ex4Evr,
There have been previous posts about bad adapters. The adapter is used to allow a 50 or 30 amp trailer power chord to plug into a smaller outlet. Since you indicate that the campground or house GFCI outlet is tripping, then you must be using and adapter.
Test the adapter with a multimeter. Test for resistance or continuity between each of the 3 prongs. If you read anything other than "Zero" the adapter is your problem. Take the meter with you to test the replacement you are thinking of buying. Also check to see where the adapter was manufactured, since not all countries of manufacture use the same standards.
Other simple tests:
Plug the adapter alone into a GFCI outlet. Does it trip? If so, replace it.
Plug the adapter into a GFCI outlet. Take your camp power cable to the GFCI outlet and, without the cable being plugged into your trailer, plug the cable into the adapter. Does it trip? If so, the problem may still be in the adapter, but the cable is also suspect. Start with replacing the adapter before considering replacing the cable.

RE: Solutions to the tiny gas tank in Dodge Ram 1500

You seem to infer that you have a short bed Dodge, this limits your solutions.
You can, as suggested above, buy a readily available auxillary tank that mounts in the bed of your truck. This will not affect connecting the travel trailer. However you have not indicated what you may haul in the bed of the truck.
Another option would be to find a local metal fabricator and have them build you a custom tank to mount under your truck and either replace or supplement your factory fuel tank.

RE: Big Charger, Small Generator

Hello Oldtymflyr,
Your generator will not power your PD9245. Your generator put out a maximum 325 watts and the inverter/charger requires an input of 725 Watts from a 120V power source. Clicky
You will need a generator similar to the Honda EU1000 to run your inverter/charger.
Although the 350 also can provide 12volt power, it is not regulated like a battery charger, and can cause damage to your 12Volt batteries.

RE: Water Pump is on but no water

Hello Willtravel2,
Shall we presume that your water pump typically builds pressure then shuts off? That you have checked for flow on the cold side of the faucets in addition to the hot? That your fresh water tank was nearly empty?
It's possible that when refilling the fresh tank, that sediment was kicked up and that a filter in front of the pump has finally become plugged.
Finally, you indicated that you drained the water heater to install the new pressure release valve. Did you install the cap/plug that you removed to allow draining of the water heater?
You may need to locate your water pump, disconnect the output hose, attach a temporary test hose that is long enough to reach to a drain or outside so that you can verify that the pump is actually moving water for you.

RE: Norcold N300 Fridge Problem

Hello Swando,
Here is the Service Manual for your fridge. Starting on page 8 you will find instructions on troubleshooting your problem.
Here you will find the parts diagram for your fridge.
In what I have been able to find, the N300 does not have a control board, therefore references to resetting may not apply in your case.

RE: TUCSON TO BULLHEAD CITY IN MID MARCH

Not quite certain what you consider hills.
SR-95 between Parker and Lake Havasu has some bends and the climb but not too bad. I am not sure how you can get there without dealing with some type of grade to deal with.

I also vote for the Dinosaur boards.
Purchased the Dino board for my in-laws Dometic some 10 yrs back. Now that my Norcold board is dead, I am planning on installing the Dino also.

Are the rims original or aftermarket? If the rub is with the frame/body replacement rims could have incorrect offset.
Clarification in what is really happening would be helpful.

RE: Indoor assist handle

Hello Shoreman,
Although the commonly available ADA wall mounted grabrails are an idea, I would be concerned that the walls of your RV are not adequately constructed for proper support. I would suggest that you find a local plumber who could bend a piece of 1.5"-2" pipe and using a pair of floor flanges, secure the assembly to your RV floor.

RE: How do I splice into a propane line?

Here is a different take on the Safety issue.
Do not know if this applies to yours but there was a recall on these in 2006 Clicky.
Also since this qualifies as an open flame item, care needs to be taken to assure adequate ventilation when used in an enclosed area.
