RE: Side enrty vs Back entry ?

Let me second the Lance 1040 side door. When we use the camper for work we also have a trailer. With the 1040 side door, we do not have to climb over the tongue of the trailer.

RE: Camper Death? Part II

Are we all ready to spend twice the money for a camper that is done correctly? I have the skill tools and material to build a camper the right way. When I priced all the items and material to do it correctly, I would start off with $19000 invested before I cut one piece of wood. When I was able to buy a new camper like the one I was going to build for only $24000 I bought it. Now all I have to do is maintain it. Now we see why the XP camper cost $60000. Good luck on your repairs. I can not believe all the time you already have just posting all the information. You could have built another camper in that time.LOL

RE: Who all makes side entry campers?

There is a popup side entry with a tent. It looks great and roomy. I think it is Hallmark.

RE: Flat Bed F-550

I have the 200 inch WB as well as a 11 bed. A Lance 1040 with a sawsall makes a nice camper.

RE: Does anyone know a good Generator for the Lance 835 Camper?

The EU 2000 will not fit in the rear storage box unless you take a saw to the aluminum door frame.

RE: When is too Tall too High?

There is no reason that you most sit that high. You can lower the bed if it is on a flatbed. My F450 flatbed only sets 11 foot 4 inches. I am going to lift the truck 4 inches for more clearance. Do you have extra height over the cab? 13.4 does not seem right.

RE: Winch

On a Dodge you can make a double receiver hitch that bolts to the existing tow hook plates. With this set up you can mount a matching receiver in the back. This will allow you to use the winch in front or back. I have a 12K warn set up like that on my F450. The idea came from my Dodge 3500. Dodge are super easy to do. Did I bother to say the removable set ups are ugly?? Try Aluminess. They make an outstanding bumper. But you will pay for the lightness.

RE: New Camper is a SWINGER, Help

I do not think it is the air bags. I had the same problem on a DRW dodge. The problem was the tire presure. I had 45 in the front and 50 in the rear. Brought them all to 80 LB and never had another problem. No more swinger.

RE: Lance 1040

Btggraphix Thanks for the compliment. What type of info are you looking for. I have a 1040 and use it at least twice a month. 10000 miles on a new Ford F450 4 x 4. Sent a PM if you need to.

RE: F550 camper project

If you come down I -20 thru Louisiana, I live at exit 61. Stop by and let me see your rig. How is the lift doing? Why not a 1040 with the tent? Looks to be the same size.

RE: 08 Northern Lite 9.6 & 8"11" these prices can't be right...

Add this to everything. I bought a Lance camper in November. January I decide to upgrade to a larger Lance camper. I paid $18K for the camper alone. The addons were thousands more. When I wanted to trade in the camper they offer $8K. another dealer was up front and said he could not buy a used camper for more then he could buy a new one. To me that is 100% markup on selling price. The asking price was $24K Or 200% makeup if they paid $8K for it new.

Fantastic fan Amp draws

Should I be able to run a fan for 8 hours off of two group 31 batteries? I have two more batteries in a back up mote also. Should I connect all four batteries or just run off the two main. I do not want to run the batteries dangerestly low and hurt them. They are AGM type.

RE: Wiring

In the 7 way you can always switch the backup wire which is the large center pin with the normal power wire pin. The center pin will take the larger wire. Since this is a dedicated 7 way , you will not be plugging trailers into it. If you do have to plug a trailer that needs power for battery, swap the trailer 7 way also. You need a large power wire. This way you do not need two plugs.

RE: Rv on a barge down the Mississippi

I remember being in New orleans and seeing barges with RVs on them. Yes I have alot of Huckleberry fin in me. Until I lost site in one of my eyes I run a tour boat, and houseboat bed and breakfast business on the Red River out of Shreveport LA and Did riverboat tours on the Cane River. Now the Coast Guard will not allow me to operate with one eye. As you can see I already have my own Houseboat with all the goodies. But I would not try to take my boat on the Mighty Mississippi.

RE: Do you fellow TC'rs ever feel like we should have a rally?

You have to understand that TCer as a whole come in two groups. One group have a TC you they can get away at a moments notice and have not a plan on what to do or where to go. The nomad life style. They do not like to plan or have someone plan something for them. These are a majority of TCers. Another group is just looking for a reason to go. These people would probably come to a gathering but would not want to spend hours on the planning and logistics needed to do it right. Just start a thread and see how many respond.

RE: Have any of you done this for rear tiedowns?

I have a piece of 2 inch x 1/4 inch thick square tube welded under my receiver hitch with two tabs welded to the end of the frame. Before TC it held up a pipe rack that I have had hundreds of LB of pipe and lumber on. When I got the TC I drilled 1/2 holes and put eye bolts to hold the TC. Do not use the bent eyebolts. Use the cast eye bolts rated for 1500 LB I think. This set up is really overkill when you compare it to any system out there. Most other systems use 1 1/2 thin wall tubing. It is alot better then a bolt in the bumper. Try to install the tube so that you have as much angle to the TC tiedown as possible. PM for more details
