RE: Tenth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B10)

Let me extend our thanks to Bob & Shaaron for making the B10 rally a huge success, despite it being held in bumfrick nowhere. They managed to get a heated tent, good catering, and an awesome entertainer. Our B friends got up and danced the night away on that little grass dance floor. I guess good bourbon can make any dance floor acceptable.
Thanks, Judy, for letting our long-time regulars how much they were missed. We missed them too.
Sorry I missed saying good-bye to most of you. Not unexpected, of course.:D

RE: Tenth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B10)

We are packing in sunny 66 degrees here in Jersey. I asked Florence if we should bring the electric space heater and she said "naaahhh." We're just gonna put our big girl panties on and tough it out. The dogs, however, are looking incredulous that we're leaving again after just getting home from Texas last week. Can't wait to see everyone.

RE: Exterior compartment lock problem

Thanks to all for taking the time to offer suggestions! I am not much of a DIYer, so I wound up driving to a local locksmith. He used WD40 with a skinny red straw applicator and kept working the key back and forth until it finally moved freely. Whew! He said to keep the locks lubricated in the winter (or when not in use) and to not use dry graphite as was done in the past. The real kicker is he didn't charge me a dime. People in NJ even surprise me at times.

Exterior compartment lock problem

My de-winterizing process was begun this weekend and going so well until I tried to open my driver's side rear storage compartment. The key will not budge the left side lock one iota. The other side was difficult to turn, but it finally did. I took a metal ruler and slid it along the inside edge to move anything that might be impeding the lever mechanism inside, but the key will still not turn at all in the lock. I suspect corrosion of some sort, but do I need a locksmith, an RV repair place, or a hatchet? Any ideas welcome.

RE: Tenth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B10)

Davydd and Nancy had the right idea to get out of the winter gloom. Florence and I are also getting ready to head to South Padre Island, TX next week, then toodle our way through Tornado Alley on the way to the B-10 super rally. It's difficult to plan on when i'm going to de-winterize when we're still getting snow and cold rain here in NJ. Can't wait to see everybody, including the Canadians. :)

RE: Want to help transport rescued cats?

Glad you found a new cat to share your life with. I've signed up to volunteer as a transport driver, although it looks like the focus area is the Midwest at this point. Here in the East there are thousands of cats up for adoption within a 2 hour drive (I bet), so not being able to find the "right" one seems unlikely, making long distance transport unnecessary here. Perhaps the selection is slim farther west, so if transport helps a kitty get a home--hooray!

Water tank drain valve

My B is a PW Ford Excel TD 2007. On the bottom of my fresh water tank are two drains: a round plug in the middle and a spigot type with small lever toward the edge. The lever broke and I had to use a wrench to open this petcock valve. More broke off and I wound up pulling the whole thing out. Are these drain valves standard purchases and insertions? It didn't have threads on the end so I don't know how it stays sealed into the tank.

RE: Losing hubcaps on our Pleasure Way

I've lost 3 on my 2007 Excel. All on the rear passenger side. I've heard that if you replace the rear wheel hubcap with one designed for the front, it'll stay in place. I haven't wanted to spend the money to find out yet.

RE: Which Billsteins? HD or Comfort for Pleasureway (Ford)

You have to be careful because if your 2003 is on an Ford E-350 chassis like my 2007, there are some companies that call the same shocks HD for some 350 chasses and Comfort shocks for others. I put the Bilstein HD shocks on last April and was very happy on my trip to Alaska this summer. You can call Phil Nickel at Pleasure Way and he will tell you the part numbers needed for your RV. I ordered mine from Allshocks.com and they were a good deal.

RE: Bella lost her battle

Oh, no, oh no. How terribly sad. I've been following Bella's story with my stomach lurching at each medical problem. Perhaps as another chihuahua lover/owner, I've been especially drawn to your journey with the wees. Perhaps everyone here has been drawn to your unflagging perseverance in giving Bella the best chance possible to live. Regardless, the love for Bell has been extraordinary, Kathleen. I'm sure your other two little ones are so happy to have you home again. I'm so sorry for your loss.

RE: Bella is in the hospital

Kathleen, I'm a dedicated lurker on this forum and have been captivated by your pictures and stories of the wees. I so hope things turn out well for Bella. You have gone above and beyond what many pet lovers would be able to handle. Keep the faith.

Hmmm. I filled out the survey, Michael, but our preferences are really just that...preferences. We will come no matter what the dates. Perhaps only those who have definite restrictions on what dates they can attend should be voting?

I vote that you haul a wood burning pizza oven, George. You and Leslie made truly great pizzas for us at the Grand Marais B social.

RE: UPDATE: Alaska Hwy RE-OPENED Monday June 11 evening

Thanks again, Sue, for all of your good info and positive support. We shared some of your links with our new-found friends in our Fort Nelson campground. That's always a benefit of being stuck with strangers for a few days--you meet and enjoy interesting people. We were able to travel north today to Watson Lake and are looking forward to more great scenery and wild life sightings.

RE: UPDATE: Alaska Hwy RE-OPENED Monday June 11 evening

Thanks for all your helpful info, Sue. We arrived in Fort Nelson, BC today and were in shock after finding out that all routes to AK were closed. We're nervous and disappointed that our first trip to AK may have to be aborted after so much planning and organizing. Well, we're lucky to be in a place with fuel, food, and water available. I feel bad for those who are truly suffering. Let's hope for everyone's sake that "a few days" will be realistic to repair the damage.

RE: Currency Exchange in/near North Portal, ND

We crossed over the border from US to Canada at North Portal 2 weeks ago and exchanged cash at a local bank in Estevan, SK. Since then, we have been using ATMs and getting good exchange rates too.
