RE: CrossRoads Cruiser & Open Range
Open Range has a couple of floorplans that I like, but I dislike the two different color woods that they use and I hate the vessel sink in the bathroom. Just a personal preference but when the DH and I are in the market for a new fiver eventually, I'll look for the floorplans I like in a different brand of fifth wheel.
RE: Morgan Resorts
Well, this doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy for the trip we're taking next weekend to the Atlantic City RV show, lol. We're staying at Blueberry Hill Campground which is owned by Morgan resorts. Well, we'll have to see what happens, I guess. Fortunately, we'r only using the campground as a place to sleep. we won't be arriving until late Friday night, spending most of Saturday at the RV show and in Atlantic City, and then leaving Sunday morning.
RE: Motels, Hotels, or camping
If I have a choice, and I usually do, I will camp vs hoteling it any day of the week! Last March my DD and I went to a rock concert that was about 4 hours from home. The original plan when I bought the tickets was that my DH and DS would come with and we would camp. My DD and I would go to the concert and my DH and DS would have some father-son bonding time. Well, the DS and DH wound up having some sort of Boy Scout event to go to and because I don't do the towing, nor am I about to learn on a 40 ft. fifth wheel, I made reservations at a hotel using a discount hotel reservation website. NEVER AGAIN! The room was worn down and nasty. Peeling wallpaper, a sink in the bathroom being held in place by a wooden dowel, nail heads protruding from the walls, worn out and stained fabric on the couch, bathroom floor that was still dusty/dirty in the corners, the toilet clogged with the first flush (which they fixed). The only reason why I didn't move was because the beds were okay (although there's nothing like my own bed) and the hotel was sold out because of the concert. I wasn't going to start looking for another hotel in the area, which I am not familiar with, to find another room. For one night we put up with it. Never again.
RE: Sunset View RV Park
I live a couple of miles from the Sunset RV Park. Their website is here.
There is a Chinese restaurant still open across the street, but Rudys & the ice cream stand are closed for the season. Not sure how long Sunset will be open - they usually close in October, but there are still a couple of RVs there.
Wow, I can't believe that Rudy's is still there after all these years! I went to SUNY Oswego more years ago than I care to admit to, LOL, and Rudy's was there at that time! I lived in the dorm right near there, Seneca Hall, and we used to love to go to the lake and watch the sunset (then we would applaud, it was so beautiful). Then we would go to "the stands" for ice cream. Unfortunately, I haven't been back since I graduated. I would love to see what the area looks like now.
RE: Not Enough
I haven't kept track but however much we camped this season, it's never enough! It's part of the reason why I'm looking forward to retirement! 9 1/2 years to go!!
RE: Anyone used "Undercover Tourist" to purchase Disney tickets?
I purchased our Disney tickets from Undercover Tourist and would recommend them. Join Mousesavers.com because if they announce a special deal, they will provide you with a link that will allow you to purchase tickes from Undercover Tourist at a special price. This price is less than if you just went to Undercover Tourist as a "regular" customer.
Cape May restaurants
MY DH and I are planning on spending 5 days in July, 2010 in Cape May to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We are planning on staying at Seashore Campsites. We stayed at Holly Shores campground a couple of years ago and were less than impressed. We wanted to drive through Beachcomber to get a look at it but they wouldn't allow us to do that. That turned us off to going there. Anyway, I'd like to find a good restaurant on the beach to have a romantic dinner. We'd like to be able to sit ouside or near a window to look out at the ocean, watching the sunset. We prefer steak/seafood type places, if that helps. Any suggestions?
RE: u-shaped dinette
We have a u-shaped dinette in our Cardinal fiver and I dislike it. The rest of the floorplan is perfect for us, though, and we only eat at the dinette when we can't eat outside due to the weather. Other than that, we store the table top and the legs in the master bedroom.
RE: Cedar Creek Silverback 35l4qb question
We had this fiver until we were crashed into on the NJ Turnpike last August and the insurance company ultimately totaled it. We now have a Cardinal fiver which we love. We would still have the Cedar Creek, though, if not for the accident. However, the one thing that I didn't like about the Cedaqr Creek was that accordian door. It does not go all the way to the floor and although it does afford privacy, it doesn't do much as far as providing a sound barrier. Our Cardinal has a solid, real door between the master bedroom and the downstairs. I like it much, much better!
Call it morbid curiosity, but...
any photographs???
I'll have to check with my DH. If so, I'll have him post them.

RE: Hershey RV Show Campground Choice
We always stay at the Jonestown KOA when we go to the Hershey show. Some of the other campgrounds listed are pretty far, others like the Elizabethtown KOA requires a minimum 3 day stay for the show. That may not be an issue for you, though, since I believe you said that you were staying for a week. You can try Hershey Highmeadows Campground but my guess is that they're booked already. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
RE: What is the WIDTH of the big trailers with Double Slideouts?
We have a 40 foot fifth wheel with five slides. I honestly don't know what the total width of the fiver is when the slides are out (we have opposing slides in the living room/kitchen area and in the back bunk room, and a master bedroom slide)but I can tell you that we are sometimes limited in where we can camp. That said, we won't camp someplace if we can't get full hook ups and a big rig site, anyway. Just a thought for the future: if and when you plan to replace your rig, have you thought about a toy hauler? They have a ramp anyway and depending upon the floorplan, it may provide easier access for your wife.
RE: Tragic CG Accident in Minnesota
There is no one solution to the problem of drunk/drugged driving in this country. The solution needs to be multi-faceted.For one thing, we live in a country that is soaked in alcohol. Alcohol is associated with most, if not all, social events, and although the TV commercials are now adding "Drink Responsibly" at the end of their ads, they don't tell you what that means. A lot of people have no clue what it means to drink responsibly as they have not either been taught what it means and/or have had responsible drinking modeled for them when they were growing up. The obvious (at least to me) includes not to drink and then drive. However, we need to further educate people about alcohol as a drug and then teach them about how alcohol affects your ability to make decisons as well as your driving abililty. I also think that the general public should be aware that a very small percentage of convicted drunk drivers are alcoholic. The majority live under the guise of being "social drinkers." This is really a safety issue, not a moral issue. We all share these roads and IMHO, if you want to drink yourself into oblivion, go ahead. It's not the healthiest or the safest thing in the world to do, but it's your business. However, then you need to go curl up in the corner and go to sleep; don't get out on the roads that we all share.
RE: Atlantic City Campgrounds
Fern,
I think Blueberry Hill is open all year, but I'm not sure. We were there once in April. It's closer than 45 minutes. It was decent.
Hi Pat!
Long time, no see! Thanks for the info. Blueberry Hill. So far, it seems to be the top choice.
RE: Disney Tickets
I wish I could take advantage of that right now but finances don't allow for that. Thanks very much for the heads up, though. It's nice how we all take care of each other on this forum!
Atlantic City Campgrounds
My DH and I are considering going to the Atlantic City RV show the weekend of November 13th, which is around our 24th anniversary. Does anyone know of a nice campground near there that would be open that time of year?
