RE: anyone running Kumho tires on their classA?

Check the FMCA Michelin tire price before you decide. It is a great program-we saved about $100 per tire.

RE: Good Sam or Coach Net.

We switched to Coach Net some years ago when we felt we were not receiving satisfactory service from Good Sam. What attracted us to Coach Net was a seminar presented by Coach Net at the FMCA convention. We have a motorhome and Coach Net does not use the closest tow service provider but rather the closest service provider that routinely tows motorhomes. We generally receive a follow-up phone call or email checking on the service we received. The price seems to stay the same and we have really used them this past year!

RE: Need to find a GREAT RV park on FL Beach this summer!

The snow white beaches can only be found on the Gulf of Mexico. We like CampGulf for that reason and because we can watch the gulf from our motorhome while we have our morning coffee. It is expensive because beachfront property is expensive. Years ago there were RV parks on the Florida panhandle and Alabama coasts but they were sold to developers for condos. We like to go after Labor Day because it is not as crowded but you definitely don't want to go there anytime without reservations!

RE: Has anyone glassed the front / rear end cap seams??

I am not very mechanically inclined so I am not sure we will be speaking of the same thing. We came to Tiffin's in Red Bay to have some service done. Up until a few years ago the rail caps were made of fiberglass. It was discovered that the fiberglass developed tiny cracks that turned into cracks that leaked. Tiffin is now using aluminum and is replacing the fiberglass rails at no cost to the customer.

RE: Weather in late Oct Destin Fl

The days are still warm with cool mornings. Very few children in the campground. The best time of year in our opinions.

RE: Florida CG help

We used to stay at Riverside RV Resort and loved it. It is on the Peace River and has an active kayak club. The snowbirds are very friendly and there is something to do night and day. It is closer to Port Charlotte and the Walmart is only a few miles away. I don't remember much about Lettuce Lake. It is an older park as I recall.

RE: Near Ft Walton Beach Florida

We stayed at the Navarre Beach Campground and chose the site on the water. We enjoy flat water kayaking and found a boat launch on the Yellow River which was nice. I think it would be difficult to kayak from the beach as there is a seawall you would have to pull your kayak over to get to the water. The campground is nice but tight as any campground in that area would be.

RE: Okeechobee Florida

Visit the hotel and have lunch there. Ask to see the bar if it is not open. The mural around the wall is worth a fortune. Other than fishing I don't think there is much to see or do.

RE: Tire replacement on Class A Goodyear or Michelin

After having 5 blowouts in a 2 year period with Goodyear tires, we just replaced them, even the new ones, with Michelins. We used the FMCA plan and saved a ton of money.

RE: Has anyone had it done?

Before loading be sure to take pictures of your motorhome. If they damage your rv you have proof instead of he said she said.

RE: Need Advice - campgrounds on Gulf Coast of FL

We have stayed at Ho Hum and can recommend it highly. There is nothing in the area for children which is a disappointment for some.
When we want to be in the panhandle area we stay at Camp Gulf-our favorite. Dogs are allowed on any but beach front sites. You can still see the water several rows back.

RE: Any great sites between Mobile AL. and New Orleans?

The Gulf State Park in Orange Beach, AL has biking/hiking trails and Dauphin Island is a great place to bike all over the island. It has a bird sanctuary next to the campground and has some nice hiking trails.
We have stayed at Cajun RV Park in Biloxi and can recommend it too.

RE: Gulf front rv parks Alabama and Florida

We love CampGulf as it is now called. No pets on beachfront sites and any tents, etc. on the beach must be removed each evening or they will be confiscated. We usually stay on the third row since it is elevated and you can see the beach over the first two rows. In Alabama the closest you can get would be on Dauphin Island but neither of the campgrounds is directly on the beach.

RE: Campgulf

We love the place! Have stayed there for years. The beach front sites are great and, yes, they are close and the rates are expensive BUT whee else can you stay right on the beach? We like the sites on the third row. They are elevated and we can look at the water while we have our morning coffee. Pets are allowed on any sites other than beach front. Local law prohibits pets (even indoor cats)on the beach and those sites are considered part of the beach. We usually try to go in the fall when the rates drop somewhat and school is in session. There is a great pizza place across the road and they deliver.

RE: central campground Smokey Mountains RV&Cabin

Wonderland RV Park in Wear's Valley has cabins I think. It is located close to a back entrance to the park. The staff is great and the campground is fairly small but not fancy. We found their camp site rates to be reasonable.

Andersonville, GA was the Confederate POW camp. I would consider it a must-see and it will be very difficult to leave with dry eyes.

RE: How Well Does Your Ford V10 Motorhome Tow Your Toad?

We tow a 2006 Jeep Wrangler behind our 32' Allegro. I don't know its weight-just that it is a heavy vehicle. We have towed it all over the west, crossing the Rockies multiple times and had no problems.

RE: Possible Park Closings in Alabama

It looks as if some of the smaller parks are closing-not all state parks. Hopefully the other changes will not cause very much frustration.
