RE: Generators

Thanks for the info it is much appreciated. I don't want to power anything but frig and T V. In my humble opinion if all you want to run are those 2 things, anything 3000 watts whether it's red, blue or yellow is overkill and way too much money. the 2000 watt units are much cheaper and easier to move around by yourself. High end are the Honda & Yamaha 2000 (aka the red & the blue) they will probably run you about $1000 give or take, and will get approx. 1800 running watts give or take. I bought one Chinese brand called "Powerhouse" which lasted me a year then wouldn't start anymore. I'm now am a happy owner of a "Champion" 2000 watt inverter. It was only 6 or 7 hundred dollars in comparison to the Red & blue but it starts every time without a fuss. It is only rated at 1700 running watts compared to the 1800 for Honda which for $400 savings I am a-ok with. As someone above stated, most of the 2000 watt inverters can be paired with a twin to double your wattage and still be around the same price as a 3000 watt unit. To me that is the way to go. I.E. if you pair 2 Honda 2000's you will effectively get 3600 watts as opposed to a Honda 3000 which will only give you about 2800 running watts if I recall correctly. The price is very close and you can handle a 2000 much more easily than a 3000. Hope that helps a bit. P.S. I also have and would recommend if you are boondocking (you don't have nearby camping neighbors), that you consider a Champion 3000 conventional generator. They are louder and it will be heavy, but mine only cost me around 3 or 400, and again it has been very reliable. Choke it and it fires right up going on 3 years now. I assume you are camping at the end of an airport runway if you think a champion 3000 is the way to go. I go "camping" to get away from the noise and am sure not going to listen to a construction site type generator wailing away all day/night.

RE: Generators

I have a 3000is and I am happy with its performance. However, as stated, it is heavy. I have mine mounted in the 5er so I am not lifting it in and out of the TV. If I were to do this again though, I would opt to go for the 2000 and a companion for just a little more money. Easier to move, more total peak power, and an option to run just half of the capacity for economy. ***BINGO*** I have the same...opinion and set-up. PS. the 3000Handi isn't in the same class as the 3000is...for what its worth.

RE: 2012 Dutchman Voltage Review

Downloading a check list and doing it at the dealer before you sing the paperwork motivates the dealer to get it fixed or allows you to walk away. I can't carry a tune so I ain't singing any paper work...I just make my mark on the blank line.:W

RE: Free ice in the desert

Ditto that- my friend bought a bag of ice one time and found an ice cube with a toe nail in it-- at least he thought it was a toe nail- he said it was yellow and had that black toe-jam under it. I was wondering where that toe nail went...?

RE: pressuer washer

One slip cleaning the wheeler and it was a new set of grips for me...glad grips are meant to be changed...rubber roofs, not so much. I don't even clean the toys with it anymore...the deck, all the time. The sidewalk under the trees, makes it look like new. Soft stuff NEVER! With a good pressure washer you have no more need for a saws-al.

RE: Be Safe Out There - Roll over in AZ

Guess who I eventually caught up with later when the traffic slowed things down. Yes but he had more recovery time to get the blood back in his "white knuckles"... lol Looks to me a semi was the first vehicle that was blocked...My guess is he was trying to pass the big truck and got caught by the suction. (Like I said MY GUESS) And does that second flatbed tow have ANY shot of turning that thing around...? Reminds me of the Austin Powers golf cart in the tunnel scene.

RE: Macerator - The Accessory that should be standard

How long do you flush a 3/4" x 100' poop hose? Where do you store it when "flushed?" Do you cap the ends or would it burst from decomposition?

RE: IS any one listening???

I want big windows and seating on the curb side, the fridge, kitchen and all the stuff that takes up the wall space can go on the other side. If I am camping in the dez or at a park, I want to know what is going on at my camp, not my neighbors. With that and the stove/refer vents in the middle of the outdoor seating area...

RE: Non-skid ramp gate

If it were me I would try some commercial low pile carpet strips on the ramp. If it works well you can cover the whole ramp in in. Sounds like a ready made Slip and Slide when wet and a breeding ground for mildue. Not to mention a great way to get sand in your bed...Don't ask me how I know.

RE: Roof help?

another question i have;i would like to get some 4" eternabond tape and lap over the trim you see in the picture at the front cap. and on the side where it returns and changes direction a few inches and is also covered in the caulking. Do i need to remove all that caulking before applying the eternabond? Does it leak in that area? the answer to that question is your answer... It seems you are hung up on the apearance of the USED trailer you purchased...fix the functional problems...move on to the cosmetic when those are gone...or mostly..;)

RE: Roof help?

I like the look...and slip resistant. How many people will see it? Does it leak? Will it cause a leak? How much longer will it last? How much does the repair cost? How likely is the cleaning to cause other problems? All questions you need to ask yourself at this point.

RE: Installing a 55" LCD in ToyHauler

Why didn't you go with the LED?? Do you have an HD sat dish?? Does your wife "like" the picture when she is that close to it while doing the dishes, etc?? Wife left me in April, she hated doing dishes. Well if TV is that important to you I understand why... ;)

RE: Talked to Highway Patrol Truck officers about 26,001# CDL

All duallys in CA (and almost all pickups for that matter) ARE commerical. Look at your registration from DMV, it says commerical. Slap the company name on the side, you are a rolling advertisement. Empty, I have never seen someone pulled over for CDL requirements. Put a trailer (non rv) on the back and you are in a grey area. Irrelevant...he has Oklahoma plates. It's apples and oranges too. Every pickup truck in CA pays the extra registration tax for commercial tags, but it doesn't make your vehicle a commercial vehicle. I park at the yellow Commercial curbs anyway. I figure it's one of the few perks for paying the extra reg fees. "Every pickup truck in CA" I would say Every pickup truck REGISTERED/LICENSED in CA

RE: Replacement LEDs

I just put these in my rig. 17 lights total and I have 3 left over as spares. Hardly any heat and for $20 hopefully they will last and not burn my trailer down but if they die an early death then oh well. The light output is the equivalent of the bulbs they replaced just a bit more of a fuorescent white color instead of yellow. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130790070488?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 It's nice to see my voltage only drop from 12.3 to 12.2 with all lights on instead of going to 11.7! Please don't take this the wrong way, but those look more like bomb triggers than LED light assemblies. Sorry.. Just for my knowledge what is your reasoning for saying this? I obviously do not want to have these do damage to my toyhauler so if you could enlighten me I would appreciate it! I think it was humor... I was wondering about the dried blood on the solder point though...lol
