RE: Can I trust that little gauge?????

You can't change a filter too often.
Keep this in mind: As long as there is no movement of the filter minder indicator you can assume that there is no, or little (insignificant) filter restriction. If you have any movement whatsoever, even if the indicator is still in the green, you have a restriction, and you are losing engine efficiency.

RE: 2012 dodge Cummings diesel review

OP-
It is alright if you want to call it a Cummings, most of us will know which engine you are talking about. If you want to be most accurate, call the diesel engine in the Dodge/RAM 2500/3500 a Cummins....... That is its real name.

Don't lower your truck, just flip out your tow mirrors and call it a day.

RE: The idler arm/pitman arm is bad again.....

LOL
According to the local "know it all GM guy" you have the wrong diagnosis. CAD program says it's really just bad fuel...
Pitman arm reqires the correct tools that most of us shade tree guys don't have.
I myself would have it done as it is not a really a easy DIY job.
Advice from a known problem child manufacture.
LOL?
Enjoy having fun at the OP's expense?
Last time I checked Dodge/RAM/whatever had their own front end issues.

RE: 2004 Dodge Ram high mileage 24V vs 1998 12V

Duramax/Allison.
Why would I want to ruin two perfectly good trucks by putting one of those in them? :h
Ooooo...burn!
All in fun:)
You would be ruining a perfectly good engine/transmission combo by putting them in a Dodge........
All in fun, right? :P

RE: Gas engine and Diesel of same specs.Pull the same.

Guys, comparing the 454 to the subject of this thread is not fair to the 454.
Even though the 454/7.4L and the 8.1L are built from the same foundation, they are no where comparable in performance. If you have ever driven a 7.4, and an 8.1, the difference will be very noticeable immediately.
Additionally, the 8.1L has a ton of asphalt ripping potential locked away in it by GM under the guise of torque management, something that never seemed to be hidden in the 454/7.4.

RE: Gas engine and Diesel of same specs.Pull the same.

By my sig, i pull with a 2002 8.1.....Its specs are roughly 340HP and 455 lb ft of torque. If a guy were to opt for a 2000-2002 Cummins, approx the same specs, does a Diesel pull any easier. Just a thought.
I realize they tow at a much lower RPM.
Thanks. Just curious.
OP-
If just comparing the 2001/2002 model year, stock, against stock, the Chevy 8.1L gas engine would out pull the Duramax, Cummins, and the Power Stroke. The trade off being the fuel usage.
I know this to be true as I have compared my 8.1L to all three diesels similarly loaded "back in the day". Of all of us truck pullers from 10~12 years ago I'm the only one who still has his truck. All of my friends have upgraded their diesels.

RE: Little Rock to Meramec State Park Route/Road Info needed

167 may test your abilities if you are still getting used to your MH. It is more miles, but probably the same time, but I'd use US67 to US63. I haven't been in that area in some time, but when I was driving an OTR 18 wheeler those roads through Batesville were narrow, hilly, and crooked.
US67 is straight, and flat from the Rock to north of Poplar Bluff, MO.

I used to live at Clarksville.
79 is a good road up to Louisiana. There are signs that suggest that you not take a large vehicle north of Louisiana.

RE: Is my mileage unusual?

I may have missed what engine you have, but the 6.0L PSD is VERY sensitive to dirty fuel. You must keep up with the maintenance.
Low fuel pressure is certain death for the 6.0L PSD's fuel system, and dirty fuel is a killer for any diesel.

It is funny that it drifted to GM. A GM model that has been out of production for over a 1/4 of a century.
