RE: Tag Axle Adjustment?

Sorry, I missed that! The scales consist of three scales. Your front axle goes on the first, the drive on the second and the tag on the third. The toad simply hangs off the back so it won't be weighed. You'll have to have someone help you set up on the scales properly so the drive and the tag line up on the separate scales.....Dennis

RE: Interior 12v lights not working

OK..now is this the same or different from your earlier post??..:h:h. In that post you said much of your 120V did not work, now you say it's only your 12V that doesn't. Which is it?..:h:h Did you find your kill switch..:h Did you reset your converter/inverter..:h Did you check your cord and plug..:h Earlier post

RE: Tag Axle Adjustment?

Reducing the weight on the tag will also reduce the weight on the steer axle AND increase the weight on the drive axle. My rig has an adjustable tag but I believe Freightliner's is set and must be adjusted by them....Dennis

RE: I need help

If the microwave and A/C work, you're getting power INTO the coach. 50amp circuit sounds like maybe one of the legs on your plug is not getting power. Start with the simple stuff. Using a meter, check the power at the pedestal to make sure you're getting 120V on each leg. Then plug in your cord and check the coach end to see if you're getting 120V on each leg there. Let us know what you find out. My bet is a bad power cord....Dennis

RE: Need carrying capacity explaned

Is there a standard format for cargo capacity stickers, or does each manufacturer report what it wants? The one constant is water weighs 8.3#/gallon. Tank capacities vary by mfg and/or options installed....the fresh water tank capacity is not supposed to exceed the combined capacities of the black and grey tanks...Dennis

RE: hwh fuse

What model number is the HWH system? I believe there is a 3amp fuse under the control panel. It has to be removed in order to access it. Pull the control panel off, and look for a fuse. While it's off, make sure all your wire connections are tight... If all else fails, call HWH @ 800-321-3494. They are always very helpful....Dennis

RE: Fuel mileage of Diesel engines

We get 9-10 mph depending on whether it's pushed or not. The larger the engine the less it has to work. Climbing to the Eisenhower tunnel to 11,800' we downshifted to 4th only once, rest of the time it was in 5th @ 1350 rpm...Dennis

RE: Need carrying capacity explaned

To properly answer your question, we must first explore the various terms relating to the weight of your coach. You will find this info on a sticker, usually on the wall behind and next to, the drivers seat. You may also find it on a sticker in the cabinet that houses your breakers, which is where Monaco put many of them. If you have none of these, call Monaco with the last six digits of your VIN or your coach number and they will look it up for you. This sticker will give you the following: GVWR = Gross Vehicle Weight Rating UVW = Unloaded Vehicle Weight SCWR = Sleeping Capacity Weight Rating CCC = Cargo Carrying Capacity GCWR = Gross Combined Weight Rating Now that we've identified the various identifiers, let's see what they mean: GVWR is the maximum permissible weight of the motorhome fully loaded. UVW is the weight of the motorhome from the factory with full fuel, engine oil and coolants. SCWR is the manufacturer's designated number of sleeping positions multiplied by 154 pounds. CCC is the GVWR minus each of the following: UVW, fresh water weight @ 8#/gal, full LP weight and SCWR. GCWR is the maximum allowable combined weight of the motor home and towable product. To assist you in your computation, the ratings and computation on my coach are as follows, yours may be different...Dennis GVWR 47,600 pounds minus UVW 40,001 pounds minus fresh water 100#@8.3 per gal 830 pounds minus LP gas 30 gals@4.2 per gal 126 pounds minus SCWR of 2 @ 154 pounds 308 pounds Leaves a CCC of 6,335 pounds Once you get all you figures written down, go weigh your rig, preferable each wheel position. If that is not possible, then weigh each axle. Make sure each axle is on separate scales including the tag if it has one. Set up on the scale with the coach in NEUTRAL and the PARKING BRAKE OFF! Setting the parking brake could skew the weight numbers. Make sure your rig is loaded as you would when you are ready to go camping. I usually weigh my rig after fueling at a Flying J. We are already in travel mode, fill up and jump on the scale. I weigh about every two months....Good luck.. If you have any other questions, let us know...Dennis

RE: S.D registration

Remember, it can get pretty expensive if you register out of state and get caught. As States look for revenue losses, RVs are pretty easy targets....especially if you have out of state tags and plaster your rig with Lake of the Ozarks stickers....below is a link to an older article that I saved shortly after we moved our legal residence to SD. There's others from other States, this is just one I kept since I knew one of the players. Keep in mind, the things you enjoy about Lake of the Ozarks are paid for with the money you pay the government. I'm not a big fan of taxation, but, like NV, where there's no income tax, they get you somewhere else. You already said, Missouri is your LEGAL residence, so if your register it somewhere else, you run the risk of tax fraud. The RV lifestyle is to enjoy life...I wouldn't want to be looking over my shoulder all the time....just sayin....Dennis RV Tax Cheats

RE: Used Class a motorhomes

I have been looking for the past 2 weeks and found Motorhomes in the South Eastern states and Texas area seem to be about $10-15,000 less than here in the Western states, can't seem to figure out why, here in Vegas its all expensive. Hurricanes cause floods. RV dealers have too many coaches to be able to move them all out of danger. An RV that has been in a flood isn't worth as much as one that's been through an earthquake...just sayin...I realize that's a pretty broad brush....Dennis To the OP...try Texas..PPL in Houston is good and there's tons of other units in New Braunfels, Tx...seems like a lot of repos find their way to that part of Texas. Try Mesa Az too...AutoBoss is one and Desert Autoplex is another. They both deal a lot with repos and have excellent prices....happy hunting....Dennis

RE: Spokane to Corburg Oregon

Kinda depends on what you're looking for: We took Hwy 2 out of Spokane over to Grand Coolee Dam, then south to Soap Lake and picked up 90 to Seattle. Tour Grand Coolee Dam and the Dry Falls area. Several State Campgrounds along that route suitable for big rigs. We also stayed at Soap Lake and enjoyed the theraputic effects of the lake. Was the choice of movie stars in days past. Moses Lake is upscale if that's your thing. You can pick up Interstate 90 there. If you head over to Seattle, stop by Snoqualmie Falls. Not to be missed. Out of Seattle, head south on Interstate 5 to Lexington. Turn West across the Lexington bridge to Washington 411 and head south. You'll meet up with Washington 433 just north of the Lewis and Clark Bridge. An awesome bridge, cross the bridge and turn right onto US 30. Stop at the top of the hill for a Kodak Moment overlooking the bridge. Take 30 across to Astoria. Climb the Column for beautiful pictures of the Columbia river and surrounding area. Head south on US101 to Florence and then East on Oregon 126 to Eugene...we did this trip two years ago. September will have the kids back in school and you shouldn't have trouble finding spots along the coast. If you decide this route, I can give you campgrounds suitable for your rig. For a more direct route, take I-90 south from Spokane and US 395 south out of Ritzville. Once you get to the tri-cities area, there's a KOA there but nothing fancy, just expensive, stay on US 395 to Plymouth. Stay at the COE park alongside the Columbia River. FHU sites right on the river @ 20/night/10 with a geezer card. From there you have two choices. Washington 14 along the north side of the river or I-84 on the Oregon side. We chose Washington 14. Easy drive, less traffic and more to see. We stayed at Memaloose State Park. Plenty of room for a big rig. Be sure to stop at the Bonneville Lock and Dam and watch them move the barges and boats up the river. We crossed the River at the Hood River bridge because there were warning signs along Wa. 14 of low clearance tunnels. As you head west, be sure to cross the Bridge of the gods, if for no other reason but to say you did it. Just before Portland, pick up Interstate 305 south. It bypasses Portland altogether and will bring you over to Interstate 5 and south.... Monaco has on-site facilities, water/elec with a dump station. If you have a macerator, try to get sites 1 or 2. A 50' hose means you don't have to move your rig. :B Good luck...Dennis

RE: Hot Water Odor

Another proven method to get rid of the smell, AFTER replacing the drain plug and/or anode rod, is to simply add an 89 cent bottle of hydrogen peroxide available at WalMart. Run it through and smell is gone. Won't hurt your pipes or you body....makes an excellent gargle too....good luck...Dennis
