RE: Swine Flu Vaccine?

Being a "first responder", ambulance jockey and firefighter, I've had my H1N1 shot and will get my flu shot next week. Just as a track record, I've been getting a flu shot for the past 12-13 years. I can be "guarenteed" a head cold for 3-4 days sometime every year, but have never had the flue. Do they work? Does for me or I'm very lucky. Maybe I believe too much, but got my cholera and yellow fever shots when in S/E Asia, and never contracted either one. (Spent 5 years there, most of it on the economy). Guess I just don't understand the hype for NOT getting protection/prevention. Lee

RE: Storage cupboard strength

Just my 2 cents, but I'd try to keep the weight under 10 pounds per running foot. The problem you might have is that books are heavy, in and of themselves. Lee

RE: The "non-essential must-have" items - What's on your list?

Weather alert radio. Not mandatory, but if your in an area where severe weather might occur, it's nice to have a 20 or 30 minute warning. I found it VERY USEFUL while in Indiana in May and June. Lee

RE: Social Security at 62?

Ironic: I just met with SS last week to "get the full picture". Wife and I are schduled to retire in Oct of'10. I'll be 63 and she'll "be younger":B, I've got military retirement, state retirement, a little bit from the fire company, and SS. She'll have Federal Civil service retirement after 30 years service. If out plans come to fruition, we'll be seeing the US for a few years. Lee

RE: Question for those that know the Washington DC area

Also look for locations in Alexandria, VA or Springfield or Reston. It's all in a 30 mile radius. Don't think about driving in the city, a poor country gal like you will get run over in a DC minute, lol. DC minutes are like NY minutes only shorter. Enjoy. Lee

RE: Where are you?

OK, that settled, any one going to be in MB over Veterans Day Week. I'll be at Willow Tree RV resort. Look for the Cedar Creek's. Lee

RE: List of rest area's

To the un-initiated, slides out means your there for awhile. In their mind, if your just stopping for "a short rest", why do the slides come out???? Just an education thing I guess Lee

RE: Blowing out air lines...

After opening water heater drain, low point drains, shutting off the water valve to the water heater, I use about 40 PSI thru the water intake from my air compressor. Start with kitchen sick spigot open and keep working back towards the input. Been working for me past 3 years Lee

How do these things ramble so far off topic??? I am constanly amazed. Lee

RE: would this work

Looks like the 26' my buddy has, and he tows it all over with a F-150. Like he says, "won't win any race, but I get there and back just fine". Lee

RE: Has anyone solved the jumbled dishes problem?

Haven't lost/dropped anything from the cupboards, and believe me, IF I DID, I'd know about it. Wife has Longaberger cups and bakeware. Only thing that opens on our rig is a drawer by the fireplace, and that's because I have not done some minor adjustment that needs doing. Lee

RE: First One Bites The Dust

Can't do that yet, MB is calling for Veterans Day week. Gonna have a little get together with about 30 or so friends at Willow Tree. Will have to see after that. Probably just drain lines and blow them out. Lee

RE: Dabbling with the idea of relocating...

Delaware isn't all that bad, cost of living is low, close to VA. Or I can put you in touch with my daughter, a teacher in Clarksville, TN. Best of luck in whatever you decide. Lee

RE: CDL needed w/ Air Brakes?

Operating a vehicle with air brakes or over 26,000 without a NON-CDL Class B is akin to towing a 38 foot Mountain Air with a Toyota. It's my opinion that your in over your head, but you just don't realize it yet. Larger vehicles, and especially those with air brakes require just a little more knowledge in maintenance and operation than is provided the driver of the family sedan/pickup. For years I have supported the idea that RV'rs obtain additional licensing, just for that purpose. Will it elimiate idiots on the road? NO, and it's a dream to think it would. But the State's and the Fed's have too much on their plate right now to even consider it. From what I've read, NY state and California have put a couple restrictions out, and FL has some kind of law that requires licensing as regards driving a dually in some counties/areas. Sorry for the soap box, but I'll keep my CDL Class A, thank you. Lee

RE: Air Bag Ride System

If it's just to bring down the headlight aiming, try Timbrens. I had air-bags on my first TV, put Timbrens on my 2d one and really like them. 15 minute install and no more adjustments needed. If I recall, they're about 70-80 bucks for a pair. Lee

RE: What Is My 5th Wheel Worth?

NADA and Kelly Blue Book both give you prices. May or may not be reallity, but it's a place to start. Sorry to hear your having to give up this life-style. Lee

RE: Gathering info to get a Cummins, which Generation Dodge?

See sig on my rig. No mods, pulls the east coast to Memphis/Nashville and a couple trips to Branson, about 12 mpg if i keep my foot out of it. Just checked, almost 72K. If I get a wild hair, I'll swap out the fuel tank for a 60 gal, then add EB (cause I want to). If I were to look for a truck, it would be an 06. Lee

RE: generator

Kubo, not dumb, just a "mis understood" The portable units need to be modified to exhaust outside and away from windows, etc However, I have seen 2000/3000 units on a slide out tray that seem to work very well Lee
