RE: computer air card question?? (UPDATE)
Your built-in wireless adapter uses IEEE 802.11, a set of standards carrying out wireless local area network (WLAN) computer communication in the 2.4, 3.6 and 5 GHz frequency bands. These are typically referred to as WiFi cards, and they do come in USB and PCMCIA/Express external cards as well.
To make a simple wireless network (in your house or office), you take a direct internet connection and hook it into a wireless router. Now any computer in range of that router with a wireless antenna can see and potentially connect to that network. Range is line-of-sight dependent, and usually limited to about 200 yards max.
AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile aircards typically come only as external cards that connect via USB or Express Card types, and use cellular signals in the the 800MHz cellular (824-896MHz), and 1900MHz PCS (1850MHz-1990MHz) bands.
It is not likely you are going to make this type of network at home, due to the equipment cost and type.
RE: Weird Motorcycles pictures and video's
The Spyder definitely isn't for those with weak forearms. You have to muscle it into and through turns due to its dual front wheels.
RE: obituaries
I'm lucky I guess in that my mom still lives in the old home town, and she keeps me informed.
For those of you who want to find a paper from home, check here:

RE: Idaho Boy Gets Tongue Stuck to Pole ‘Christmas Story’-Style
Nope. When about 2, my son left a piece of his tongue on a metal screen door in base housing near North Pole, Alaska years ago. He never did try to lick frost again after that.
RE: Today is my last day...
I believe you all mean celebration of, not anniversary of. The latter would imply you'd been age x, y times (i.e.: If you've been 29 30 times, you'd be 870 years old)....and what you are trying to say is you've stayed 29.....
RE: Questions on Telescopes
C'mon fellows, about 15 posts ago JustBob (the OP) wrote that he had ordered a pair of 15x70 binoculars. Rants about telescope mounts etc. are no longer germane.
True, he did say that. Whether that is going to do double duty for his astronomical needs, he didn't say. I presume that's why some of us are still trying to provide some input. I'm just glad you used the term germane instead of finding some way to say behoove (not that you would, just saying...), lol.
RE: Questions on Telescopes
Hey Bob, rather than listen to us ramble on, you may serve yourself much better to read this article: http://www.rocketroberts.com/astro/first.htm
Also, this related list of scopes: http://www.rocketroberts.com/astro/firstscopes.htm
One other note: The author doesn't like goto scopes much. But then, he admits he doesn't use them. The setup issue he discusses in the article indicates to me that they didn't have the tripod perpendicular to the ground, and/or they didn't have the mount setup to the correct number of degrees for their location. Goto setups do work, but you do have to know what you are doing for some of the older ones (newer ones are auto-everything).
You might check out a SkyScope, too.
Orion does have a set of scopes under 200.00 that might suit you, and Meade puts up list under 500.00 for beginners. Celestron has the TravelScope and FirstScope series.
Yet another group says these are good starter scopes http://www.scopetronics.com/starterscopes.htm
You have a lot of variety presented, as long as you don't expect something the scope can't give you, you should be ok. It pays to read descriptions and reviews.
Just remember, the larger the diameter, the more you are going to 'see' clearly. And check the barrel carefully. Dents are not your friend.
RE: Questions on Telescopes
Awww come on...you all know darn well that a 8 inch catadioptric schmidt or maksutov cassegrain reflector with a correcting prism will let you see the end of the world terrestrially, AND more moons of Jupiter AND the Orion Nebulae...lol
They are a pain to carry though. A little hefty.
RE: Lottory Winnings
I'd have to check on the rules in Canada, but I do know in the U.S., there's certain percentage limits on how much you can give to charity and how much to family. Some places even have laws that say you can't will your winnings to anyone else, too.
The dream's a good one, but do your homework....;)
RE: Went back on my word tonight
Sociology PHD and no job? You have got to be kidding:
http://jobs.phds.org/?keywords=Sociology
And I found another 11 jobs that pay over 100K a year in various fields that require Sociology degrees on www.theladders.com.
type phd sociology jobs into google and you'll be looking all day.
Takes missing more than one payment for the bank to come after you. Usually the limit is 3. And for the repo man, it's even more involved.
Be glad you helped your sister, but don't let her tell you she has the only job she can find. Took me all of 2 minutes online to find over 50 in her chosen field of study, and that doesn't even count personal knowledge of jobs proxying classes at online colleges.

RE: ....I'm trying to watch the American Music Award....
Pick up a copy of CHOPS at Hollywood Video (new release), Mandrake. Music is much better, and even though it's a documentary, it's much more fulfilling that the awards show......
If you have to buy for a hard to buy for person.....
Here's something I found that while hugely overpriced, IS useful.....
http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B6_S4--V8/Interior/Lighting/ES252101/
I got mine at the Audi dealer parts counter for 65.00 out the door and it has the Audi logo on the lens. The cheaper ones I've found online don't have the logo. And, I've also found them for over 200.00 online.
RE: Ants, Ants, and more Ants
Ensure you have all water and food sources (to include crumbs and stains) cleaned up in the rv/house. Then either provide a sugar trail out of the house, or just leave some sugar water in a dish outside. Once they find that, they'll move out quickly.
RE: Interesting phone call this morning
I'll trade you this for that:

I think I got some swampland around here somewhere, too!
RE: We can all rest easy now
What NASA really said:
"Is the Earth Targeted for an Impact?
Not that we know of! None of the asteroids or comets discovered so far is on a collision course with Earth. However, we can't speak for those that are not yet discovered. In principle, one of those could hit any time, but statistically the chances are very small."
