RE: Install hooks in RV walls?

We bought 2 tension rods that are set up in the shower. Any dripping, drips into the she tub and down the drain and the sun dome helps dry the towels/clothing. To hang things like clocks, etc we use those Command Strip Hanging Hooks.

RE: What are your fun family activites while camping?

Of course it depends where you go and who goes with you. Our kids like to swim or go down waterslides. We also take along little ceramics and paints you can buy at Wal*Mart. Glowsticks and Jiffy Pop (with extention) to pop over the fire. Bikes or golf cart rentals to look around at other's sites to get ideas. Bubbles and ballons and big chalk.

RE: Different models/types of HTT and lots of questions

I have a 3 bed unit. It is nice because when you have extra going camping with you because with family and friends knowing you have a unit someone else will sometimes go along. More room=more space for all. When someone doesn't go along extra you have extra storage space to put things. We have a KZ which we love because they are the only company we found with a 2 year warranty and we and others who have had an issue or 2 after warranty have been well taken care of by the company. They really stand behind their product. JMHO.

RE: HAPPY HILLS CAMPGROUND, HANCOCK MD. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

I would also dispute it through your credit card company for not being able to provide services you paid for. Alot a campgrounds have a policy related to weather but mainly cover rain or snow or other weather but not the kind that totally disable the campground. I agree that you should have gotten a refund back on your card. Let them also know that you have posted on a popular forum your problem and that you would type an update if the problem resolves.

RE: Roof Damage

Looks like the membrane is bubbled in a few areas and should be cover under warranty. I would take it back or call the dealership and ask what you should do before applying any tape which may cause damage when they are looking at it to determine the cause. They may quick fix it with dicor caulking and have you come back.

Refridge Tube ??

I pulled the vent cover off the camper today for the first time and noticed a white tube with a black plug like thing on it which ended by sitting in a small black water catch that had some water in it. Is this the but from the drain catch inside the fridge? I see alot of them coming out of the vented areas on campers. Why is this? Do some have trays and some don't?

RE: Dang it, I did it AGAIN!!

Not that I won't forget to look at the note but we have a little sticky note next to the hot water switch so that when we are breaking down we remember to turn off the hot water tank as not to burn it up like I've heard others have done. It seems we all learn by the things we have done.

RE: Frequent Camper, First Disney Trip - Advise Suggested!

Sorry for the lenght of this post but it is what I kept messaging to another forum member and just combined the information for this post. Anyway depending on your family size and what you are looking for I hope this will help as it did with our family of 5 or more and on a budget. Now what I suggest may sound cheap to others but in our family we try to take in consideration the pros and cons of what to spend money on and what to save for, what we can't do today so that we can do tomorrow. With that said here are some of the things we do to save. First on the tickets. If you are going to be there for 7 days and are not sure of the the weather or the number of days you are going to parks then just buy tickets for 2 days. You can add additional tickets for the decreasing price as long as you do it within 14 days of the 1 use of the tickets. Instead of buying a ticket for every day and maybe skipping a day or more you will save on not buying un needed tickets. We don't bother with the hopper tickets because its hard enough to do most things in 1 park in 1 day than thinking hopping to another park in the same day. You can plan your parks based on the extra magic hours since you stay on property. You will either get into the park earlier or stay later that those who don't stay on the property. We perfer the 3 additional hours at night instead of the one hour before (more time). You may want to consider water parks and more for those who want to go to the water park or the 5 story video game (Disney Quest) which my boy loves. For only a 1 time charge (at the time $55 each ticket) you get the same amount of days to the water park or Disney Quest. The cost for 1 ticket to a water park or to the Quest is $50 each. Only me and the boy did the water parks and Game Quest addition since our girls are still little and the wife wasn't interested. If you want to do this than you may want to purchase as least 2 days at one time then you will get the 2 days at either the water park or Disney Quest for just $55 each person. Since we are old at 40 years old we can't do a park each day so we usually do one everyother day and rest inbetween at the water park-WDW pool-riding the monorail or buses around to look at the other properties--Downtown Disney. Golf Cart Enterprises is the name of Golf Cart Rental Company who will deliver the cart to the front parking lot of the Fort Wilderness Property. They are about 1/2 the price of renting the disney carts. If you have stayed there before you will know that walking the campground is not a great option but they do run buses close to each loop of the campground if you don't want the expense of golf carts. The more carts the better the price they offer--they meet all WDW FW rules for golf carts. We also like to take the water taxi over to the parks which the kids love but give yourself time depending on when you go for any crowding and same goes for the buses. If you leave the parks a little before or later than closing then you should be okay. The bath houses and laundry are great at the campground. For food options we drove to the local Wal*Mart in Orlando and stocked up on foods for breakfast and to make sandwiches to take into the park . You can take water (which we bought those flavoring packs), plastic soda, crackers packs, fish crackers, licorice, slim jims, etc. The great things for kids that you take a stoller for is that you can buy a collapsible cooler that you can fill and hang on the back of the stroller and eat while walking around the park. We don't like full stomaches on hot days and wild rides=equals sick. When we do get food at the parks we usually order an adult meal and maybe a side for the kids and have them split it because they don't eat much. We have our own water bottles with flavoring and soda we take in so that saves on the drink costs. (keep hydrated) Also you don't have to take in to many bottle because they have fountains all over the parks to refill (we keep forgetting that and taking in to many). We also hold off on the kids getting things like icecream during the day and have it as an insentive for being good through the day. We also buy icecream to put in the freeze at the camper or hotel. Something to remember is that they check all bags (coolers, purses, camera bags, fanny packs, etc.) before you go into a park so be prepared to pull things out so they can see the bottom of the bags so pack smart. Again a stroller is great. You can also rent strollers at the parks and pay a one time fee for a ticket that you take with you to each park and just pick up the stroller when you first go in. If a stoller is not needed for the kids they you can rent a locker that you can get into through out the day this is the same for the water parks. FYI there is also a McDonalds near the Value Resort that has good prices. Although a little higher than typical McDonalds it still cheaper than a $5 Hamburger some other place. As for the refillable mugs at the campground or other properties $15 is to much for us and much cheaper again to have our own drinks. An option may be to by a mug at one of the stores and just fill it with your own drinks. I forgot on page 2. While stocking up at WalMart they also have lots of real Disney Licensed items like shirts, mugs, pins, etc which are much cheaper than on property. Maybe get the kids shirts there instead of the properties. On property everything costs the same no matter where you go (ie. the same shirt will cost at the campground store as it does at the park store). We collect one trader pin each time we have gone for the kids for a collectors lanyard so they remember the trip. They can also trade those with any cast members who are wearing lanyards (there are hundreds of pins at costs from $6 on up) The pins are not one of there allowances, its just something we do. Speaking of allowances the kids are allowed a certain amount to spend for example $30 each (3 kids=$90). They are not allowed to buy on the first 2 days, just window shop. They have the option to spend it anyway they wish up to the $30 which they can combine with their own money. They can buy one thing for the amount or several times. About the tickets. Some people buy tickets for all the days they are at Disney. If they go for 7 days they buy 7 days of tickets. We only buy 2-3 days of tickets at first then we can add addition days for the discounted price as if we bought them all at one time. My thought is that if you buy 7 days of tickets and it rains for a day or two or you decide to stay at the campground and swim for a day or go to a water park or shopping, etc. then you didn't waste your money on 7 days if you only go 3 or 4. Also for example if you buy 3 days of tickets for the parks (magic kingdom, epcot, hollywood, animal kingdom) and decided to add for $55 the water parks and more then you have 3 tickets to the parks and 3 tickets to use for either the water parks or the Disney Quest. Again you don't have to add the waterparks and more to all your tickets. For example if you and your husband aren't interested in the waterparks or the game room then just add the waterparks and more to the ones who will go to them. The park hopper additional purchase can get you into several parks in one day but again I don't understand myself why someone would do this. Hope this explains it a little better but if not let me know. Also I forgot to tell you about the fireworks you can watch from the beach area at the campground which is great. Also any parades at the parks you want to see, plan on getting there about 1/2 hour ahead of time to let the kids sit near the ropes or the adults will block there views. This is a good snack time and the actors will sometime come over and shake the kids hands and a great opportunity for pictures. Fass pass is where some rides have a machine you put your ticket (some are like credit cards) in and it gives you a card for a later time you can come back and get in a shorter line. Not all rides have this. For example. Its 1200 and the line for Space Mountain is long. You put your tickets in the Fass Pass machine and it gives you a ticket to come between 1:30 to 2:00 (the machine doesn't keep your original ticket card so don't worry). You go ride or do something else and come back between 1:30 and 2:00 and you get into the special Fass Pass line which there could be no wait or sometime maybe up to 15 mins to get on the ride while the general line may have a very long wait. In short. Put your park ticket in the Fass Pass machine. Get your park ticket back and an additional card with a time to come back. Do that and give the attendant your Fass Pass card and you have only a short wait compared to the general line. By the way you need to do this for each person wanting to ride. There is something else. For example if you have a child that doesn't want to ride you see the attendant at the beginning of the line and ask for an exchange pass. One adult stays with the child or children who don't want to ride(or can't due to height restrictions) and the others ride. After the person who didn't ride (with the exchange ticket) can go through the fass pass line with 2 others without waiting in the long line. Again, the exchange ticket is gotten from the attendent at the beginning of the line. FYI-to keep the cooler cool don't use ice. Either buy a gel like pack and freeze in your freezer or freeze a bottle or 2 of water and use them last if needed. I also take a couple of bandaids and the cold water is good for scrapes. My kids take after their mother and are bound to get a scrape/bump etc. No straws allowed in the animal kindom due to the animals (park rules) Also avoid chocolate and those sticky gummy things or plan on alot of hand wiping if hot outside. We also like frozen grapes. Take in only a small camera that you can put in your pocket or fanny pack so it doesn't get wet and you don't have to carry it all day. They have something called photo pass in which Disney photo people will take your picture and give you a card which you can access when you get home on your computer. Secret/hint---they pictures are very pricey to get and they have something that blocks you from being able to copy/paste the pictures from their site. Take you camera and have the photo person take your pictures with their camera and they they will take it with yours if you ask. So now you have your pictures on your camera for free and you don't have to pay the high prices for theirs. I don't know the ages of your kids going but I would write contact information on a paper and then cover it with plastic wrap or something incase you are separated. Let your kids know who are Disney people so they can find them and give them the paper with the cell phone and name information. We were getting our group picture done this last year where the Christmas lights were and when we turned around our 12 year old boy wasn't there. Panic but found a couple mins later. He had turned and though someone else was a family member and started to follow them before seeing it wasn't but Thank the Lord he was then smart enough to stand in one place for use to find him. Other than people trying to get through the crowds most are friendly to help a kid because we are all kids at heart. At least 2-3 years ago there was no free wi-fi or computer access on the property. You have to pay and will pay dearly. My brother in law runs his fathers construction company and had to do some work while on vacation and had a had time with accessing the internet and again the cost was crazy. You can get cell phone coverage so if you and family have those fancy cell phones with internet etc they you'll be okay (we live in the mountains and have no service around our house so we go with Trac fone). The beach at the campground just means sand. There is no access into the water except a drop off and no swimming in the water. Although not disgusting the water/lakes are polluted from the gas and oils from the boats so no swimming allowed although they do allow fishing (funny?) The pool at the campground is very nice but don't let the kids run. On our last FW trip a kid ran and slipped and cracked open his head. Also may I suggest that since this is a big trip for you all that you may want to consider getting some tee shirts made up local before you go with maybe some Disney Theme announce why this is a big family trip. Sometimes Disney People will see this and treat you a little different. We have seen family with special fass pass cards that they didn't have to go at certain times, some have been grand marshalls in the parade, some get pulled up on stages to act out scenes, etc.

RE: Awning is a mess!!!

Ours was pretty bad so at the beginning of this year I stood on a step ladder for approx 2 hours off and on and unrolled the awning little by little and held my hand underneath as I used a scrub brush to scrub the top then reversed to the bottom. It took a while but applying the pressure with my hand to create a hard surface help with the scrub brush bearing down to get a nice deep clean with just soap and water. Looked close to new being that it is white and light gray.

RE: Wipes in the Black Tank????

It may sound nasty but we wipe the younger ones with toilet paper first that flush then use a moist wipe at the very end and throw them in the trash. They have a baby powderish smell to them already which mask any extra smells. If it starts to smell which we have never had an issue we would simply throw the bag out and put in a new one. We use Wal*Mart bags as trash liners so they are free.

RE: F150 Problem in Loudonville OH

No it wasn't their fault. It was the idea that they were stiffed from others who charged or wrote them checks then had the charge or check cancelled. Keatonb16 don't forget about those who charge or write checks for money they don't have and then those of us who pay more or higher interest because of those people. I don't blame them at all for an all cash policy.

F150 Problem in Loudonville OH

Towed up hill upon hill from Western MD to Loudonville OH (5 hours)without any issue. I took it easy going up the mountains and my phrase of the trip to the wife was "Look another mountain". We met with our friends at Mohican State Park (they live 1 1/2 hours away. I let the truck sit for a couple of days until we were to go to Amish Country. When I went to start the engine the check engine light came on and the RPMs kept going up and down and it shut off twice. Now for any of you who know this area there is no cell phone coverage for 99% of the people in a 15-20 mile radius. I told my friend we had to get someone where we could get it looked at fast because I didn't want to be stranded with the family. After talking to some locals we found a Ford Dealership in Loudonville (very small operation with only 8 or so employees) I thought dealership = big bucks but thought they'd be the best place to put on a computer and fix it right. The only problem was they had a sign that if you are from out of town you had to pay in cash. Again, thinking the worst I thought no way on a Friday I could get a money transfer from one of my banks to another. They explained all the problems they have had with people cancelling cards or checks when they have worked on their cars but not to worry. Also my friend from OH could have lent me the money until we got home. Anyway the computer found that a tube that mixes things (I'm not a vehicle person) but with the PVC had a hole and was closing off air to help mix whatever. Anyway the computer check, parts, labor and finding of a recall (free fix) came to only $98. When do you walk out of dealership with only paying that for a repair. But best of all their compassion and great hospitality made it a great experience. So if you are ever in Loudonville OH and break down don't think twice about calling the Ford Dealership for help. God Bless them. And I don't want to hear any Ford jokes either. HA HA!!

RE: Retracting a Stranger's Mechanical Awning in a Storm?

I was sitting in my camper this last time out when a big rain storm came. The two campers behind us were family friends and very nice to us also. Anyway sitting in the camper I looked out and he and his friends EZ UPs Tents were up and I said to my wife. I wonder if that is one of those new EZ UPs that the water drains off well. As I turned and was getting up from the seat to go out and checked the thing collapse. I felt so bad because if I would have checked a minute earlier it may have been saved but when I went out the friend was coming out also. I then went over to check his awning and it was tilted well. Then this same poor guy and family was gone during another storm which they had his things put away (Toy Hauler) anyway a huge lightening strike came and I thing it was only a couple hundred yards away. Later found out it fried his tv, dvd and elec hot water tank. This poor guy had gone back to his house to meet with an A/C guy because the week before the lightening took out his house A/C. He was so calm about what had happened even when I joked about making sure we didn't camp anywhere near him again.

RE: BACKING UP IN THE DARK

What about those reflective plastic/metal stick markers. You could line one side (usually drivers side) of the driveway which should pick up any light. You could put those in the ground before you leave and take them out after you park. Also if not traffic, pull straight in and back out the next day.

RE: Quality Control

I feel your pain in part to having something what I thought major happen to our RV. I thought the front A frame section of our RV was bent and wanted to vomit about how and how much it was going to cost to get fixed. I had extra insurance and the money to fix it but asked around and found out there was no way the frame should have bent in this manner. I called KZ and after a month or two of back and forth emails and inspections by local dealers and welding companies we found that the front cross member turned which was the frame builders fault. Anyway even with the great KZ 2 year warranty being passed KZ in good faith had me take it to a certified welder who did a great job and I didn't pay a thing. Yes the gas to take it out about 4 times and the feeling of loss (Thank the Lord it was paid off) of not being able to use it was heart wrenching for us I have to say thank you to KZ. Keep looking into the matter and don't give up.
