RE: Widows continuing to RV by themselves

I am a single woman and joined RV Women...they are nationwide and have chapters in all states. I joined last year and felt very welcomed by all the ladies...widowed, divorced, single by choice. They have events every month with a national convention once a year in various areas. I highly suggest that you check them out! Good luck!! Marsha :B

How to plan??

I am planning on a 2-3 week trip in September from CA to Arizona, New Mexico, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and return. I plan on highway 66 as much as possible. As much as I want to go whenever and wherever, how do I reserve a campground ahead of time but still be unscheduled?

RE: Use of Orange/Yellow cones is a must!

When I was a kid, long before the days of orange highway cones, they used what looked like little cannon balls with flames coming out of them. They were low to the ground, but I bed no one tried to run them over. We use an orange cone to identify our site when we have guests coming to join us. We do not put it on the road, we are generally parked 10 plus feet away from the roadway. In BC traffic fines are double in work zones. cannon balls...what a memory jogger!! I was about 9 years old and my friend and I wanted to put out the flame so we kept hitting at it with sticks...damn thing exploded and we ended up with smokin' eyebrows. We were lucky!

RE: GS Road Ser. vs. AAA

I have been a member of AAA Roadside Assistance for 40 years. I just bought my RT 170 a year ago. In comparing plans, I felt that Good Sam looked best. AAA regarding RV..."Limited basis as long as the contact station that is dispatched to service has the equipment available". Sorry, but that's not what I want to hear when I am in trouble!! Yesterday I switched over to GS and not waiting till my AAA expires in November!!

RE: A Class B I can drive in town and that has a REAL bed?

I have a RT 170 and solo also. The 170 is too small but the bed is ok...I have a nice 3" mattress topper. I am already planning on looking at the B+ or RT 190. The real advantage of the 170 and 190 is being able to park them ANYWHERE that I park my car. Good luck!

RE: Suggestions for Quick Dinner for Tonight ?

how about what i call a hobo pack, i like to use fish, first i put down some alumny foil, layer it with thin sliced veggies, ie potatoes, zuchini, onions, what ever you like, then place enough pieces of fish on top, some salt an pepper, oil if you have some, seal it up and let it cook for about 15-20 min over the fire and poof, one dish no mess DINNER. Enjoy We call those foil packs. I have never tried fish, but kielbasa is a favorite. When we make these we generally graze in the produce section for what's available and then put them directly on a pile of charcoal, rather than the grill. Campfire Girls...we used hamburger meat. SO GOOD...great memory! :B

RE: Another Rant - can't help it!!

Its all in how you was reared by your parents I guess... We are always very conscience of leaving the camp site as clean as it was when we arrived. I had one neighbor camper that had the same experience on the other side of him... After they left all their trash and junk we both went to the camp office and got their mail address and packed all of the trash up and mailed it back to them haha... Would have loved to been there when they happily opened up their package haha... Roy Ken Saw someone the other day pickup a cigarette that someone had thrown out the window of there car while at a stop light and tossed it back into the car. stupid to do...person then shoots!

A person wrapped their garbage in pretty wrap, set it on their car seat...left doors unlocked...yep, in the morning, their garbage was gone!! :B

RE: Road side assistance

I am in the same boat (RV!). I have had AAA Road Service for over 35 years and think highly of their service for my CAR. I am nervous about using them for my RV. So, I am going between Good Sam and Coach Net...comparing, etc. Any opinions and please say why?! Thanks!

RE: Can I rant? Driving stuff...

Unfortunately, I live in an area where people don't think twice about using their gun they have sitting on their passenger seat. As much as I get angry at others, I have to let it go...sure I say things to MYSELF...but it's just not worth it!

RE: Rattlesnake Crockpot Stew

Many years ago, I was about 180 miles south of the border in Baja...we came upon a huge rattlesnake...it was killed and cooked over a campfire. Of course I wanted to taste it...the smallest piece I could get...to me it tasted like salty chicken. Don't care if I ever eat it again...not that it was horrible, it just wasn't good!;)

RE: Chevrolet Roadtrek Refueling

We had that problem in our RT 210 also. From the Roadtrek forums the general opinion was that this was caused by RT modifying the fuel supply line between the fill point and the tank. People felt that the slope was too flat and caused fuel to "back up" against the trip mechanism when flowing at a high rate. Like PSW said, I had some success by not inserting the handle all the way into the filler as well as angling the handle by pressing the handle towards about a 2pm position in the hole and then keeping the flow at a low rate. Total P.I.T.A but it seemed to work most of the time. Have a suggestion for a good RT forum?

RE: Ultimate road trip

I also have a RT 170 so I really enjoy hearing news from others! How in the world can more than one person travel though! The bed is really for one (and a dog!). Since I plan on doing some traveling soon, what have you found to be the top 3-5 things to bring? Enjoy!!!:)
