RE: Funny Town Names?

sidianel posted Climax, GA; in the 70’s my wife and I would go cave crawling with a car club we were in and one of the caves was located there. The name was, wait for it, Blowing Hole. Not a town, as such, but on the Parks Hwy halfway between Fairbanks, AK and Nenana there is an Inn/Bar: “Skinny Dick’s Halfway Inn”. Inn Took a picture of that myself and brought it back and showed my friend Dick. He didn't find it too humorous but his wife laughed for over a month..:B Vulcan Alberta

RE: What kind of Florida snake was this

My DW would tell you it's a cross between a 40' Anaconda and a King Cobra. :W I don't especially like snakes but, I would not have killed it. I wouldn't have killed it either. It's really hard to do while running the other way.:E

RE: Emergency road service...is there one you would recommend?

I have GS and have had good luck. From the sounds of it a lot of folks have Coach.net and are very happy. I think I may have to have a look at it and compare coverage before I renew. I do that with my insurances also on a regular basis. I go with the best bang for the buck that has the services that I want, definitely not necessarily price

RE: Contemplating the change

Go full time RV'ing and you will only be alone if you want to be. There is good group of RV'rs out there that will help you along.

RE: There WERE a few things about the "good old days"...

Things weren't better back when and they weren't worse. We just didn't have the things we have now. :h Would I go back and relive it all. You bet! I had a great time loaded with memories. Maybe I was just luckier than some. :B One of the best things from back then was no reality TV. :Z

RE: Why snowbird vs full-time?

People who fulltime have nothing to go home to. We've been all over N. America and Europe We spend the Sumer at the cottage, over two wooded acres with 300 ft of waterfront. There's no place like home. We have a home right behind us all the time. Our summer is spent at a beachfront RV resort where we have a site and are only an hour or so from family and friends. Our winters are spent exploring the south with family and friends. We can change our view and cultural surroundings at a whim. There's no place at home with that much variety.

RE: Too old to continue traveling ? Grown children urging ..

I have a FIL who is 84 and I'd put him up against a lot of the 60 year olds out there anytime. He loves to travel and would expire if he couldn't. He still drives some places and flies more often now but he is still out there doing what he wants while he can. I only hope I will be as lucky at his age.

RE: Any full timers who home school?

We just finished a nine month trip across Canada and then down Route 66 from Chicago to LA. We came across numerous families home schooling. All of them said they were involved in various systems that permitted them access to all the info and technical data required in a coop type system. They were definitely happy families and sure seemed to work for them.

RE: BC Out of Province

This doesn't mean you can stay in the US 7 months...it means you can be out of province for 7 months.

RE: You can can dry camp at Walmart for free.

Congrats to the OP for sharing info he felt should be passed on to others. He was trying to inform us. I thank him. And there is nothing free about staying at some of these places if your DW has a credit card.....

RE: Joshua Tree NP Closed Due to Graffiti

NPS isn't doing their job if vandals are destroying the parks. What a shame. You have got to be kidding. What the heck are you reading? If you are serious, don't ever let me catch you in a national park, or BLM camp ground, cause I'm likely to repaint your rig. Asinine can be a four letter work. Oh, my apology to those with working brains. Too much glue, crack, or other problems woodgeezer? NPS has a lot of employees and a lot of vehicles. They should be patrolling their areas of responsibility, looking for vandals (nuts painting rigs) etc. Create employment. Assign a NPS person to everyone entering the park. At a minimum, one at every potential place that vandalism could occur. It may cost us $500 a day to visit a park but would make it possible for parents to ignore even more of the responsibility of raising their children to respect things.

A buddy got a new hearing aid and said it was the best money could buy. I asked him what kind it was and he replied "about 2:30". HMMMM. Still laughing! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico I walked right into this didn't I? One has to put more thought into how one words a question on here for one is bound to get an answer from one who has the same slightly off but ohhh sooo much fun sense of humour.:R
