RE: insurance cost

about $150 a year thru Progressive with their dissappearing deductable. Now that they do homeowners I might jus switch everything over to get all the "multi" discounts & the 0 deductables all rolled up!!!

RE: ? about making reservations on RA.

Here is the response I got from RA.......Just as I thought, I'm not gonna book for 2 weeks!!!
Only your arrival date must be within the 11 month window. So many customers book then end of June for example into the beginning of July to get the holiday weekend. There is no way for us to stop customers from making their reservations this way.

RE: ? about making reservations on RA.

You have to learn to play the reservation game. You get good at it after a while.
So book 2 weeks ahead of that "11 month" time and then change your "length of stay" later on? Oooh...what time zone should I call? (central here) because I dont wanna be on there at midnight and then find out everything is done eastern time...lol

RE: ? about making reservations on RA.

It is 11 months in advance here for all state and federal and when I tried last year they were all booked up before the 11 months so I know people are booking them 2 weeks ahead time. (you can only book for 14 days here) Funny thing is that these same people who do this are the ones that usually cancel 3,4 days before the reservation because they looked at the weather report and seen a couple of raindrops comming!!! Pathetic!!

? about making reservations on RA.

I'm not sure if this is everywhere or just where I live but we can't make reservations beyond 11 months in advance. How does this work because as soon as I try all the sites are booked already??? How can this be?? Do I have to book 2 weeks in order to get a site? I'm looking to get a good site next year for labor day weekend so do I book a site on the 23rd of this month and book it for 2 weeks???

RE: Since a Hybrid is self-contained can you camp @ tent sites?

I think the % of State/Fed campsites are primative and most of the time you have no choice because people are up @ 12am, 11 months in advance to suck up all the good sites!!

RE: Since a Hybrid is self-contained can you camp @ tent sites?

Like Jellystone parks? They don't say 'tents only' they call them 'primitive sites with no hookups'. Can I reserve these sites since I'm not planning on using any utilities?
What about those parks that have 'tent sites'? Can you reserve them if it doesn't say 'tents only'?
Simple answer to your questions are "YES" & 'YES" but check back because i'm sure it will get you all messed up after about 40 replies...lol

RE: digital thermostat

Sorry... not understanding your question. If you want your furnace to turn on then you should set it above ambient temp.(not sure why you would want it on in daytime 65+ deg.) Your AC unit is prolly its own unit and not connected to your thermostat.

RE: Show your mods!!

Mr. USA is your weather station hard wired or running on battery power. I liked the looks of it and orderd one and it came today. Nice unit indeed.
I use the batteries installed and plug it in when I'm plugged in @ campsites. I like the look with the lights on. I have had the same batteries in for over 2 months now and it still works.

RE: Show your mods!!

Alum rod? I work at a heat exchanger company and have never seen alum anodes. usually zinc but anyways for our applications any anode should last longer then the camper will be around so I wouldnt worry about it. It's not like anyone is running salt water...lol

Technical reading on balancing the battery connections: http://www.smartgauge.co.uk/batt_con.html
That's on a 4 battery setup. Gotta be much closer amp wise on a 2 battery setup. I will probably make the switch anyways once I get my battery switch. Wont need a longer cable then. Thanks for all your help everyone....:)

Daul battery setup question.

I just installed a dual battery setup on my camper (pics are on "show your mods" topic) and my friend at work says that the positive should be hooked up to one battery and the negative should be on the other battery. Does it matter if they are both on one battery? I am talking in parallel...so 12V total.

RE: Jayco 23-B TV Reception

When you switch to cable, there is a little button that you press located near where the cable comes out of the cabinet. I'm sorry I can't be any more specific, our 23-B is across town in storage. But, when we used cable two weeks ago, in order to receive the signal we had to push that little switch. It either made a little light (green indicator, I think)go on or off- opposite of what it had been. Good luck!
I believe that is some sorta booster and yes it does give you better reception.

RE: Roasted Corn

Bring an old coffee can with and fill it with water and add 1+ lbs of butter/garlic salt and set it on the fire. Shuck ur corn after roasting and dunk away. The butter floats on top so you get perfect coverage everytime!!!
