RE: TorkLifts front, HappiJacks rear?
I started with HJ and ended with TorqueLifts, which I wish I'd bought in the first place. My vote is for the latter. (and I wish I hadn't drilled those holes for the HJ's).
RE: outside steps
There are previous posts on this subject. My leg was rather badly injured several years ago with scissor steps. I had some fixed steps fabricated, but they were a pain to transport.
At the suggestion of a fellow forum member here, I bought a Little Jumbo Four Step ladder with which we have been extremely pleased.
See link to Little Jumbo ladder.
RE: Need help! Anybody here near Meridian/Boise, ID?
BiGG, since mine was sold, I can't measure, but I'm 6"4" and the top of my head was at the ceiling. The jacks I got were replacement, but I think close to the same as original. They were crank-up, bolt on, two half-inch bolts with two jacks on the driver's side and one jack on the passenger side. You WILL need spacers to be able to back a dually underneath. I just used some (8", I think) pieces of square steel tubing to extend the jacks out. Mine went with the camper. With the spacers in place, you could not fold them up to sit in the rings.
Ticki2, thanks for the info on the front dinette, you learn something new every day. This is the first one of those I had seen or heard of.
RE: Truck Camper vs Truck + T.Trailer
Between my honey and me, we've had a Class A, TT's, a large fiver, and two TC's. We prefer the latest TC, but down the road for longer trips upon retirement, we might add a TH. If you're an "off the road" kind of guy, a TC might be for you.
RE: Need help! Anybody here near Meridian/Boise, ID?
BiGG, I sold my '67 C-10 a couple of months ago after having it for sale for about a year. Mine was a couch model, but pics of the dinette model I've seen were completely different from this one. I may be wrong, but I think that this particular one has been completely changed and remodeled, albeit quite nicely. The price is higher than most, but it may be worth it.
Having owned one for over 10 years, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
RE: My camper is disappearing
I love snow, but my large plow blade for my ATV has only been used a couple of times since I bought it about three years ago. Send some to SW Missouri!
RE: TC on a pontoon boat platform?
Whazoo, if you had that idea two years ago, Sleepy must not have seen it or he would have jumped YOU for the silliest idea in 10 years on this site.
BTW, you're pretty good with Photoshop, cute picture.
TC on a pontoon boat platform?
First of all, this is more of a theoretical discussion at this point. It's not like I'm ready to tie one on.
As nice as some of the TC's are these days, if a guy could mount a TC on a flat pontoon platform, it might make a pretty nifty houseboat and you could get more use out of your TC.
I supposed the TC would have to be reversed and the chairs and controls on the boat moved to the front under the overhang with perhaps a (short) door under the overhang allowing access from that end.
Would the TC be too much of a load for the pontoons? Given the amazing capacity of my inflatable, I would suspect that a 20 to 30 foot pontoon (or a new tri toon) boat would have no problems hauling 4K pounds.
Has anyone heard of such a thing? Do one of you have such a thing in his back yard? If this is an original idea, remember you heard it here first and be sure to send me the royalty checks.

RE: Colorado Trip - Sept 2009
Well, duh. I just didn't read far enough on the boats section.
I DO know that you have to register out of state ATV's now and I've been checked on that more than once.
RE: Colorado Trip - Sept 2009
No longer true, Brad, that's why I brought it up. About three years ago (?), they followed Wyoming's lead (as I understand it) and now require that any out of state ATV or boat be registered with them.
(here's the link)
Boat Registration Information
Any boat with a motor or sail operated in Colorado on any public waters must be registered with Colorado State Parks.
To register your boat, complete the Boat Registration and return it to:
Colorado State Parks-Registration Unit
13787 S Highway 85
Littleton, CO 80125
If paying by credit card you may also fax the application to (303)470-0782.
You may also register your boat at many State Parks and offices; for a list of the nearest registration location, click here. Always call ahead to ensure services are available.
Registration Fees
The annual registration fees are determined by the length of the boat.
* Less than 20 feet in length - $25.25
* 20 fee to less than 30 feet - $30.25
* 30 feet or greater - $50.25

RE: Colorado Trip - Sept 2009
I agree with seldomseensmith's comment re only being able to take one toy at a time. Since I cannot bear to go to Colorado without my ATV, we bought (but have not yet taken along)an Avon inflatable and a 9.9 hp Yamaha to take advantage of the beautiful lakes.
It doesn't look like we'll be able to head out West this Fall due to some unplanned, unavoidable health and other issues that arose.
BTW, Brad, did you remember (or know) to get that CO permit for your boat? (ATV's need one, too)
RE: Not the way you want to end your vacation
I actually LOST a trailer several years back. I was towing a utility trailer behind my TC on a 2 hour trip. When I arrived at my destination, I was shocked to find a broken hitch and no trailer. Called the Highway Patrol, and found the trailer had come loose on the interstate and was struck by two cars about dark. No one was seriously injured, thank goodness, but my trailer was totaled and the cargo damaged. I didn't get a ticket, but the the insurance company was not pleased and raised my rates for three years. Yes, I had safety chains, but they were attached to the hitch behind where it broke.
RE: NL storage ideas / cabover
I don't have an NL, but I wouldn't think 140 lbs in the cab over would be a problem at all. In fact, I wouldn't think double that would be a problem. My .02.
RE: a new to you TC?
A friend of mine recently got a good deal at the local auto auction, an immaculate 2008 Ford F-350 extended cab 2WD v-10 loaded, leather, etc., for $12,500.
It did have rather high miles, 45K, but still...
San Juan ATV Safari
For the last two years, I have participated in the San Juan ATV Safari link. It is a guided ATV tour of the canyon lands of SE Utah in mid September.
Some of us who are TC'ers are also ATV'ers, and that's who might like this. It's a great time and very inexpensive.
If any of you are interested and decide to go this year, PM me and we can exchange ideas. Perhaps we could arrange to camp together.
Other than being a very satisfied participant, I have no interest in this venture.
