RE: Where's the cheapest place to buy a quality hitch ext?

What is the problem with the grinder?
Try this site: http://www.hitchesonline.com/index.htm
I have found them to have good pricing.

RE: The Long, Long Trailer

I like them both. The problem with the Long Long Trailer is the bickering, just too much of it.

RE: Taos and Santa Fe for Christmas?

The weather in Santa Fe is colder then one would expect, it is quite high. If they have had a snow storm the city does not plow the streets, that means there will be lots of ice and ruts downtown and much more difficult to use even a 4X4.
We use the bus, it works well and runs often enough to be very convenient, depending on where you are staying.
In addition to what most people have said, we enjoy the ranter unusual state capital building.

RE: How cold can I go?

Use the built in furnace, that what its there for and its the safest heat source.
As far as the tanks go, in out TT we used windshield washer fluid for the drain tanks and did not have any trouble down ot maybe 20 below.
The fresh water tank we generally did not use, used bottled water.

RE: Where to go.besides just plain South

Just go south. Its a great country, there are more than enough things to see and more than enough history to learn.
Take the back roads and just keep going until you want to stop. :C
BTW, I like your photos:)

RE: Glad I don't depend on the Diesel

It was -9F here a couple of days ago. The units heater was not plugged in, I wanted to see how it would do, engaged the glow plugs and when it was ready it cranked to a start. Lately the batteries have been reading a little low about 12.3, may need to consider some new ones.

RE: 2010 Motor Trend Truck of the year

If we listened to the pundits, we all would be driving a Prius or some sort of Honda hybrid, there would be no Dodge, GM or Ford.
Motor Trend who? Or I should say who really cares?

RE: GM 4L80E History

Our 1993 Suburban had the 4 speed 4L80. Its a good transmission no troubles in 150,000 miles and it pulled an 11,000# boat over the mountains to Lake Powell.

RE: 4x2 or 4x4 for towing ??????

There was a post a few weeks back about a guy who had an good 4x4 and just pulled of the road for a rest, onto what he thought was firm ground, well it wasn't and he was not able to budge the beast it was wrecker time.
If you want 4X4 why make excuses or apologize for it, just do it because you can afford it and want to do it.

RE: Truck and trailer flip

Its been proven time and again that there are certain people that can and will destroy anything!
What this picture has to do with safety probably has little or nothing.

RE: Pressure Cooker necessary?

You don't need one in the mountains but they do help a lot.
Due the the lower air pressure, we have less air above us at altitude, water boils at a lower temperature and that makes for slower cooking and longer times. I am carrying one, it doubles as a big sauce pan.
The newer designs, we have a Presto SS, are hard to blow up, you will pop the valve before anything bad happens.

RE: Digital Voltmeter or Battery Monitor?

We have a digital volt meter that I bought from Summit Racing, it works well for us. But I am careful and keep track of things.
The Trimetric is a good piece of equipment and is hard to beat both in terms of performance and price.
Either one will work.

SLOW-1, how did you get to the mall in 10 minutes? We will be there later in December and could use a little help.

RE: Looking for more tow power

If you can get an 8.1 or even a 454. It will make a world of difference.
Cams, headers, chips don't provide the performance in a gas engine that they used too. The makes are not leaving as much on the table as they used to.

RE: Refilling Portable Propane Tanks

I get them full or real close even when the 20lb tank is less than half with an L-shaped adapter I made. Wonder why the differant results?
Maybe the time, I take at the most 5 minutes for a fill.
