RE: my small town

As principal of a small town high school, my husband had to send the Ag class students out to round up the cows in the school parking lot and return them down the road to the farm they came from.

RE: Im so excited, Walmart wants me to have their credit card!

My feeling are hurt, we did not get a great offer like that. Or do you have to shop at Walmart to get the offer?
I am afraid we are going to lose the credit cards we do have, because we always pay them off each month.

RE: Translation Tables for Convection/Microwave Cooking?

Go to a good bookstore and you should find cookbooks.
I do not own a convection oven but have three I bought at garage sales because I know when the microwave stops working I will get one.

RE: Have not tent camped in 30 years

We did the same thing. This time around we take an electric blanket, heater and fan if we are stopping at a campground that has electricity. Seldom were in campgrounds where we could use them but they were nice to have when we could.
We saw pictures of the Yellowstone sardine cans for RVs and took our tent when we went for six weeks. Had a wonderful time. Would have hated being sardined in, in the TT.

RE: Interior Upgrade advice

We bought a folding table that lays on a bed while we travel.
The grill fits on it, an electric frying pan and anything else. A card table would do but this is narrower and longer.
Friends have a grill on folding legs that they use.

RE: Biggest issue about keeping TT at home

My daughter and her husband stopped at our house to check things out while we were gone. Two neighbors came over to see who it was and the police car stopped. Shopping Guide picked up and lawn mowed.
Really small town.

RE: best way to have cats in our 38' HR Neptune

We put Opie's litter box in a cardboard box with sides about six inches high. Any litter that came out of the litter box was trapped by the cardboard box. The cardboard box came from a supermarket where it had held bags of oranges.
We had four bunks so one bunk held his litter box, his bed and his food.
And I mean Opie the cat, not Opie431.

RE: Weekend vs Longer Stay RV packing

When we travel we do not have grandchildren with us so Rubbermaid containers go on the bunks. If the entire trip was to be two-three day stops the bookcase would come out to be left at home.
Bunkroom door could remain closed so no one would see how our possessions that reproduced.

RE: It's time to go! Westward Ho!

Check ahead to be sure that some roads at Yellowstone are not closed due to snow.If they are there are several NPs in Utah close to Zion and Bryce that can take their place. Years ago friends could not get out the way they wanted to due to snow.
We take most of our trips in May or September, October also. The best time to travel. Have fun.

RE: Barking dogs

Our neighbors last weekend had two barking dogs. I heard the woman say to someone who complained that it was my fault because I kept coming out and walking around our lot. We were 40 feet away but it was my fault that her dogs barked.
Of course that made me come out twice as often. I should be ashamed but I kept doing it on purpose.
Ranger stopped by and their dogs were taken inside.

I think we have been behind them also, more than once. You have to realize that they are the most important people in the world and you are way down there.

RE: Where to go?

We have gone around Lake Superior several times. Lots of parks so we did not have to make the same stops each time.

RE: Concerned about the camping sites in the U.S.

We drive thru almost any park we are near when we are camping and we find that those parks with full hook ups are often very small. We do not want to be that close to anyone so we avoid them. Some people have to have full hook ups.

We camp 80-100 nights a year. Now that my husband has retired from his retirement job we might camp more.

RE: What food to bring?

We eat what we eat at home. The refrigerator is turned on two days before we leave, packed the day before because we leave early in the morning.
I have been gluten free for over 30 years so I can seldom plan to buy food as we go along.
When we go tent camping food goes in our good ice chest. We open it fast and close it fast. Still have ice for five days keeping food at the bottom frozen.

RE: campgrounds to stay away from?

We keep a little book in the truck that we use to mark the lots we like in parks we drive thru. Some there are no lots we would take for more than a night and other people rave about how great they are. Different strokes for different folks.

RE: Fresh water tank etiquette

We were in Utah at a campground where a water truck came in every few days with water. A large Class A came in and filled up with water. For several hours no one else could get water as it filled up. By the time they were done there was not enough for those of camping there. That was ten years ago and I still think grrr thinking of it. Rude no, it was more than rude.

RE: Replacing the counter and other Q.

I have more counter space than you do and a double sink but when I want more counter space I lay something over the sink or the stove top.
I have a 12 inch pull up counter extension but have never used it. You could probaly add the same.
