RE: How often do we recharge the air conditioner

Gotta love our throw-away society. :R Because the factory wants to save a dollar by not adding two 50 cent valves, a $500 to $600 unit becomes a throw-away. :B When I go on an A/C call and am looking for a leak, that's the first place I look. ;) More often than not, that's where the leak is.

RE: Do I really need a 3/4 ton truck?

I went from a '07 F150 SC w/ tow package to '08 F250 CC PSD. Both times I took the truck and trailer to the camper dealer and had them set up the w/d hitch. Its a night and day difference in pulling. The 150 pulled fine but had to work on the hills. Wind was another story, some times it did feel like the tail was wagging the dog. I've had the 250 out and in some pretty good winds this year. The first time I kept checking to see if the trailer was still back there because it wasn't wagging the back end. Same hills with the PSD and it doesn't break a sweat. I'm quite happy with my current set up.

RE: Traveling with cat

I put the litter box in the tub. My cat gets extra treats when we are out camping, and thus made it fun for her. She is still not overly excited about traveling, but she does tolerate it. She is in the pet carrier the whole time in the truck. I do get a kick out of her after I get set up. Her first thing after she gets out of the carrier is to stretch out and roll on the rug by the front door. Thats her rug and I just get to use it once in awhile.

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

Just picked up the Honeywell 2000i at Home Depot in Ankeny, Iowa. There was only one in the store and it was located sitting on a shelf by all the generators. No price sticker on the box and no sign to show the price. I took it up to the cash register and asked for a price check. $299 was the reply. Out came the Visa and out the door I went with it. (I checked my other Home Depot in Urbandale last night and none there) Tonight I am going to run it side by side with my Champion. Will post my "comments" tomorrow in a new thread. I checked 2 stores in Omaha with no luck. If you find another one let me know and I* might have to do a road trip.

RE: F150 vs. F250 - One Man's Opinion

I'm another happy 250 PSD driver. Stepped up from a 07 F150 to an 08 with the FX4 package. The 150 got the job done but was soft in the rear when towing. Hills had the 5.4 working when towing. It sat level and WD hitch was dealer set and working properly according to them. Wind seemed to be the toughest on it. The trailer told me of each gust. I found that I planned my routes when towing dependent on the weather. If it was breezy I would stick to the 2 lane roads. Got the 250 and hitched up the trailer a few weeks ago during one of the windy days here. 35-40 mph cross wind and the truck and trailer were like one unit. It was great! I had to look back a few times to see if I was towing. I use my 250 as a daily driver and mileage is slightly better with the diesel in town, towing is 2-4MPG better. It does ride somewhat stiffer than the 150 but it isn't bad at all. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q170/otar15o/250ttsm.jpg

RE: One again, I took everyone's advice......

Congrats on the new truck! I also upgraded from a '07 F150 to an '08 F250 PSD over the winter and yesterdays pull to the camp ground with 30-40 mph cross winds reminded me that I made a great choice. I was dreading going out all day thinking about those winds hitting that 30' sail. Needless to say the stiffer truck and torque to spare made the trip quite enjoyable. I did know I was pulling but it was nothing like last year with the lighter truck.

RE: Tornado hit campground

after thinking about this a little more i remembered something that happened to me a few yrs ago. we were on our way back from Ct to Il somewhere in Indiania. it was storming like crazy, wind and rain so bad you couldn't see 2 ft in front of the car, everyone and i mean everyone pulled off to the side of the road. now the scary part-we had the radio on, they had severe storm/tornado warnings out, nameing all the affected counties. only problem was, we were on the interstate, and had no idea if we were in the affected tornado warnings or not(severe storm part wasn't a question). not sure what the solution would be-maybe add some of the affected larger cities. i just know that was a very scary time and am sure it happens to people all the time. It was either the local radio (AM) station or NWS started listing interstates and mile marker ranges this year during warnings.

RE: Where to buy spices?

I'm lucky that I have a Penzeys in town now. It saves on shipping. I dont mind paying a bit more for good spices because I can use less and get better flavor.

RE: Camper Shells / Toppers / Caps - Jason vs. ARE vs. Leer

I ordered a Leer commercial cap back in Feb. It came in and was not what I ordered internally, and workmanship I describe was at best from a 9 year old. The dealer agreed with me that it was not what I ordered and showed me on his order sheet that he did order it the way I wanted. Several calls made and finally got it sent back to the factory 2 weeks ago. Several more calls to my dealer and threats made by me have finally gotten the attention of the district rep. I got a call from him this morning and was told that they are supposedly making a new cap to my specifications. I was told that my cap has been viewed by everyone from production to the president of the company as to what a cap is not supposed to be shipped like. I suspect that statement was made to me just to make me feel better. I'm not holding my breath, but I was told a new one is being made for me and I will be comped for my time and troubles. I told the Leer rep it's not going on my truck until I inspect it first. If it isn't right it will not be installed. Back on topic (and my apologies for the rant), I would avoid LEER. So far their customer service is dismal. Anything else has to be better.

RE: 2008 Ford

3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper....5 years 60,000 mile power train warranty 100,000 mile warranty I was just going off the window sticker. It wouldn't bother me to have a 100k warranty.
