RE: Two strokes strike back

not to be off topic as i love my Honda water cooled 250R two stroke that i'll never sell but this wole talk about 4-strokes being high maintance is waaaaaay over rated. sure the book calls for top ends at every 15 hours. I do believe that's bull. I let my 2001 Raptor 660R go 9 years before i sold it and it was still on the factory top end, never been opened up. It was still running storg when i sold it. I just picked up a new RMZ-450R and i don't plan on doing the top end till it goes out, and even then the worse that can happen is u scored sleeve, big deal, thown in another $150 for a new sleeve while your redone the top end. What i'm anel about is the oil changed and the valve adjustments. But even with the valve adj, i let them personall go a years before i take it the shop for a $100 valve adj. Tho i will say i don't race but i do pound the******out of them in the desert +20 trips a year Right now the 250R two strokes are good for 35 hp tops and all the current EFI 450's even the carbs models are putting down 50hp all day long. Nayther - You got off cheap, my Honda CRF450 cost me over $2600 in two rebuilds 18 months apart, and I don't race, I'm a desert rider. I'd be glad to see the simplier tech make a comeback, if they can meet emissions laws I'd buy one tomorrow. Having 4 or 5 valve's and a complex cam system is expensive in a small motor. I know quite a few people who have tried 4-strokes, loved the power and when the first rebuild rolled around sold them for 2 strokes. We need to see the large 2 strokes make a comeback! You can't compare a 660 Raptor to a new age 450 :R completely different technology. New 450's have slipper pistons and rev to the moon, the Raptor is a low revving torque monster. The new 450's do require more maintenance and $$$ than a 2 stroke far and away more.

RE: CalNevOre 4 Moon Rocks NV Memorial Day Weekend

A special twist and bonus this weekend for those that would like to participate. Some of you may know, I write for an industry magazine from time to time and I am currently in the middle of an article about RV cleaning and maintenance. Part of this article revolves around a product to clean and protect your rubber roofs without the use of running water. Please review the following and let me know if you would like to participate. Protect All Roof Care This outlines the procedure and what you can expect. Protect All is supplying the cleaner and UV treatment, all you need to supply the sponge mop, two 5 gallon buckets and about 2 gallons of water… and of course some muscle. If you are interested please PM me by Tuesday night so I can plan this out. We will be taking photos and a group shot for the magazine as well. I'm very interested in YOU supplying the cleaner, UV treatment, sponge, mop, two 5 gallon buckets,2 gallons of water and of course some muscle. Don't worry, my trailer is tiny, won't take you but a minute. :B

RE: Witch New Side X Side

Ok folks, I could really use your help here. Where are some good reputable places to buy things like roll cages, 42" rear bench seat, 4 point/5 point seat belts and new rims and tires. I've checked into places like Rubicon4x4 and kawasakiteryxgear.com and one other place that I've gotten a lot of items from in the past but for some reason it's taking them over a week to get me prices. I just want to shop around a bit more before I spend another $2000.00. Thanks in advance. Check out Factory UTV, family run shop that can handle all your aftermarket UTV needs. RE: SUPERCROSS FINAL IN VEGAS!!

......so Reed won't get what Chisolm got because he wasn't a lapped rider? or? Correct, Chisolm while being lapped by the leaders was getting blue flagged, but he chose to ride through the blue flags and race with Reed after letting Stewart by. Big no-no, if you get the blue flag you need to hold your line and let the faster riders by. He let Reed go by.. The fact that he almost stood the bike up on it's nose trying to keep from t-boning Reed, shouldn't count, the fact that Reed couldn't catch Stewart after, shouldn't matter.. I was Reed fan until these last two races and was hoping he could pull it off, but all I saw was a classless punk that gives the fans lip service.. No, I'm not a Stewart fan either.. J-Law is where it's at!!! No he didn't let Reed go by, you were obviously watching another race. You call Reed a classless punk and are a fan of J Law? OK, maybe you did "see" the same race... :R

RE: SUPERCROSS FINAL IN VEGAS!!

SO what did you think? That pass Reed put on James was, ah, well... :h Stewart has pulled the same type of pass against Reed this year a couple times. Take a straight line to the apex and cut off the guy in front of you, happens on just about every lap of every race somewhere on the track. This time just happened to be between 1 and 2 so it gets the hype. Problem with Chisolms move was that he was a lapper and should have pulled to the side for both riders racing for a championship. He got what he deserved. Vegas was a great race, that jump tapped out in 5th was pretty wild! The longest set of whoops seriously challenged every rider as well and the rhythm section gave everyone except the top 3 fits and it ate them up a few times too. Thought Dungees ride in the lites was the ride of the weekend. I think the health of the sport is excellent and selling out this weekends race before race day is a good indicator of that.

RE: SUPERCROSS FINAL IN VEGAS!!

I'll be there, lookin forward to seeing if Allesi or Reed try to park Bubba in the cheap seats :CThey have to catch him first. Alessi usually pulls the holeshot, besides rumor has it you can take someone out when your getting lapped :p Hell he almost took both of them out.. A bad case of Whiskey Throttle.. I liked Bubba's clean passes and Reed's block passes! But hey, rubbins racin!! Come on, we both know you like Y-A-M-A-H-A :p Bubba is the fastest man on the planet, no argument from me there. Hate to see a lapper pull over to let his teammate by then run into the challenger at a point in time when the racing between Reed and Stewart was as absolutely good as it gets. Chisolm had wiskey brain if you ask me and should have pulled over and let them both by....

RE: CalNevOre 4 Moon Rocks NV Memorial Day Weekend

No! I can't afford that toy!! No!! lol I know my oldest will want one when she sees it. I just picked up that Apex quad used for her so no new toys for her. I was thinking about a LT 50 for Katie bug. The Mini RZR’s are pretty cool though. Did you mod your air intake? I’ve read about ppl having issues with them just like the RZR. I put a UMP can on my RZR. Much worse than the big RZR, the dirt goes right through the filter. Polaris has a huge headache on their hands with this one unless they step up and put a real filter in them. I have connections at Factory UTV so no worries on that front, got a completely new intake for it.

RE: CalNevOre 4 Moon Rocks NV Memorial Day Weekend

I was kidding... I need to get her riding by herself. She's almost ready. She can ride a power wheel quad pretty good. Last time I let her ride it she went down the driveway between the SUV and Truck, pitched it sideways at the bottom and skidded around right onto the side walk. I was hurrying to grab her when I saw that I laughed and said, "Hey, you've done that a few times huh?” She just giggled with a big smile and took off. We like these snowboarding helmets for the RZR: http://lh3.ggpht.com/_pVgF56h1aw4/SegMuN06ZZI/AAAAAAAAI94/2CZVL4aPrcw/s512/1129081719.jpg We'll have to get them strapped into the RZR 170 and let them take a spin! Throttle stop can make it no faster than the power wheel :C

RE: CalNevOre 4 Moon Rocks NV Memorial Day Weekend

We have been studying Google Earth and there appears to be a pass we can take to Pyramid lake that will not get us scalped by the indigenous residents. The "Exploratory Committee" will be looking into that ride on Wednesday. Exploratory Committee :B If that doesn't have Howies name all over it I don't know what does. Lookin forward to taggin along :C
