RE: Scooters

I use my "Roadtrek Electric Scooter",seen below. Actually...it's a fixed-up old X-Treme X-250 electric scooter fitted with wooden board with RT logo, a headlight, and a brake light. By the way, I have seen our local Costco stores selling good priced E-Zip scooters last summer, they might carry it again. http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/6183/rtallelectric.jpg

RE: California coast destinations

I do like Crystal Cove, so as Doheny and San Clemente. Other Beach campground not mentioned are: Silver Strand SB, South Carlsbad SB, San Elijo SB, San Onofre SB, San Mateo (although it's a long hike to the beach), Bolsa Chica SB, and Newport Dunes. Good luck.

RE: Redwoods

We too like the Elk Prairie campground at Prairie Creek Redwoods SP. Site #1 to #7 can fit larger RV's but their website states they can only accommodate 27' RV's. Here is a drive around the campground video: Elk Prairie Campground. You can see at the beginning and at about 5:35 of the video the sites #1-7 with bigger RV;s/ TT's parked. Not sure about site #70 to #76 though, I did not go that side of the campground.

RE: Comfortable camp chairs for limited space

Here is what I use Click here , it's very compact/lightweight and also comfortable. Some people might find it hard to get in and out of the chair though because it sits close to the ground.

RE: RV camping outside San Diego area

Check out "Observatory Campground" at Palomar mountain, it's about 1.5 hour drive from San Diego Zoo and 1 hour drive from San Diego Safari Park. It's woodsy with nice hiking trails, and close to Palomar Observatory and Palomar State Park. Palomar State Park has it's own campground but not very RV friendly. Campground Photos here: Clicky here.

RE: Dump at home?

Remove the cap Have some one flush toilet.......drain a sink full of water.....run the washing machine. Look down the pipe........flash light. See/Hear water running by? If you do......dump your trailer tanks. x2. That is how I checked mine. Flush the toilet with more than enough toilet paper in it...then watch the TP's pass by. :)

RE: Rude drivers

Our first trip to CA. Had that problem. Daughter who lives there. Said dad do not use your your turn signal. Just change lanes when you want. Everyone on there own in this state. FYI: In California, you can get a ticket for not using your turn signal or not signaling during lane change or when turning (in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement/lane change).

RE: DIY: Folding Mattress Across Sprinter 2 Front Seats

Interesting, where does it go while you are driving? It goes behind the driver seat when not in use. Picture below, sorry for the dark picture http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/2475/imag0036g.jpg width=640

RE: Campgrounds near Portland or Troutdale Oregon?

Thank you all for the campground recommendations. I was reading reviews of Sandy Riverfront RV and Portland Fairview RV Park, and it looks like they’re a good place to stay. I’ll try Sandy River RV resort as most of you recommended this place. Thanks Bruce and Sue for the heads up. This will be our first visit to see Oregon coast and its famous falls. I can’t wait to hit the road. Thanks again.

Campgrounds near Portland or Troutdale Oregon?

We are planning to see the Columbia River Gorge Falls in Oregon this summer, can anyone recommend a nice full-hookup campground close to I-84? Thank you.
