RE: Camp Verde / Sedona

We stayed at Distant Drums in May and June. We have a 45' four slide, MH and had no trouble fitting. We also had a full size PU and 2 motorcycles. I would say the sites there are quite level - not perfect but not very far off. We really enjoyed our stay.

RE: A good campground on the beach in FLA

RE: Outdoor Resorts of America/Virginia Beach

Their web site says 45' aqnd we know people that own lots there that have 45 footers. It is an older ORA and was built in a time when rv's were smaller and didn't have slides so it could be tight, but you should fit.

RE: south dakota black hills?

We like the Rafter J in Hill City. It's in the middle of the Black Hills, spread out and they have a pool.

RE: Butterfield RV Park

We stayed there a week in 07 and loved it. We had an end spot with a cactus garden. Convenient to Tucson, Tombstone and the Sonoran desert.

RE: Buying new SUV for toad

We've had two CR-V's, the latest an '09 and both were extremely reliable and pulled like a dream.

RE: Hitch weld or not

Lots of misinformation. We've had two MH that have had motorcycle lifts welded to the frame. Haven't replaced one compujter and I'm glad they weren't bolted on.

RE: Florida Thunderstorm Warnings - awning in or out ?

I'd take it in. There isn't much need for an awning at night. I've seen some Florida winds come up pretty fast. Why take the chance?

RE: 40 or 45 feet??

I had a 40 and now have a 45. There is really little difference in terms of limitations at campgrounds or on the road. The tag handles a lot better. The MH just wants to go straight so it's much easier to drive. On the Newell look at the weight the axles are carrying and their speed restriction on un-modified MH's prior to I think coach 1203. I have heard on other forums that they are being stopped in Ohio due to axle ratings.

RE: Use of motorcycle lift on motorhome

I've done it both ways. Either works fine. When it's uncovered I have a bit more cleaning to do when I get there but that's it. I would never use a standard HD cover though. It flaps and ruins the paint.

RE: Montana LLC sales tax excemtion

Price seems steep, but call John Bennett at: Bennett law office He'll tell you the issues vis-a-vis your state and the costs.

RE: best campgrunds from ca to montana

I'll third RVParkreviews and also recommend the KOA in St. George. It's one of the best KOA's.

RE: rv shows northeast

Hershey PA has what is billed as the largest RV show in the US. It's held in Sept. It is a really good show.

RE: Roadmaster vs Blue Ox tow bars

I have the Roadmaster Blackhawk All Terrain which is rated at 10,000 pounds. I pull a Chevy Silverado with a Rampage motorcycle lift in the bed that's carrying a Harley ElectraGlide. If you are pulling anything heavy I'd stick with a Roadmaster. I was at an RV dealer in Maine having some work done and there was a car with a Blue OX baseplate that had only one bar left attached. The owner of the shop told me he had seen that before. 3 months later I was in NH and another dealer told me a similar story. My truck has the two bars on the baseplate and my old CR-V only had one. For any kind of weight I'd like the two bars.

RE: Washer-Dryer Combo

We have the Splendide combo and like it a lot. It's nice not having to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer mid cycle. We use dryer balls to keep clothes from wrinkling. We like having the extra space.

RE: Are these batteries any good?

I replaced my flooded cell batteries with Lifeline AGM's. The flooded cells were causing so much corrosion, there wouldn't have been much left of the battery tray in a couple of years. The AGM's are great in our all electric MH.

RE: Internet Friendly

I suspect they are trying to say you have either free or paid access to the internet. Doesn't tell me if it's via modem or wifi. Unfortunately I've found that about half the CG's that claim to have wifi access don't. We camped in one recently that said they had free wifi. Then when you read the fine print, it was only for a few minutes to try it out. I tried it and even that didn't work well enough to use. We have a Verizon aircard we use when we need to connect to the internet.

RE: CUMMINS DIESEL ENGINE COOLANT ISSUE?

It is not unusual for a diesel of that size to go to high normal when climbing mountains. You should shift down a gear or two & keep rpm up. Also check fan belt tension as fan belts do stretch with age & cause slipage. Runway is right. Higher rpm's are good whether the fan assembly is dirty or clean. And as he says make sure the fan belts are not slipping.
