The wood order has been placed and we have a cord of Black Walnut being delivered on Wednesday the 20th. We should have PLENTY for our nightly celebrations!
Black Walnut should work out nice! Thanks for getting this all lined up. My group will have some $$$$ for you.
We should be there on Thursday mid afternoon.

RE: Brand new TH, and pulling trailer that big.. need help ASAP!

The first trip and for a few trips after pulling the new beast will be a little nerve racking, but not bad. Just take your time and relax. Find a big parking lot to work on backing skills, rather then practicing at your first campsite.
As for air bags...do you need them? Maybe, maybe not. Air bags provide support by keeping the rear of the truck more level when you have a heavy load in the bed or on the hitch. Then also provide some rolling support when traveling through curves.
If the sag you get without them is minimal, you probably do not need them. If a night time everyone is flashing you like you have your high beams on then you need to get the bags.
Also, weight distribution and sway bars on your hitch set-up should help in keeping you level and providing support.
I pull a large fifth wheel and some other heavy trailers. I went the route of Timbrens. Easy to install and no maintenance, plus a little cheaper. Here is a link to read about them. Timbren SES
Good luck with the new rig!

RE: Summer trips....where you heading?

My camping season generally runs from April - October. I got trip #1 done a week ago out near Yerington, Nevada. Planning on Mammoth Lakes in a week for Trout Opener. Then the Carson Valley area in early May. For Memorial Day weekend CalNevOre 4 at Moonrocks. Over the summer some trips to Bridgeport, Mammoth, Markleville areas, etc. Might try to get over to Coos Bay....have never been. In the fall a group of friends is thinking about Marysvale, UT in Sept/Oct.
I love camping season!!!!

RE: Storing Question - With or Without Water?

For me it depends on whether I filled the trailer with city water or well water. At my house I am on a well. Water comes out of the ground with no treatment. In the summer if I leave well water in the trailer for 2 weeks while the weather is warm it makes the water smell like sulfur when it comes out...then I have to bleach out the tanks and lines to get rid of the smell. If I put city water in it I am able to store it longer.

RE: CalNevOre 4 Moon Rocks NV Memorial Day Weekend

I'm thinking we will get there sometime between noon and early afternoon on Thursday. Will not know for sure until it gets closer, but everyone in my group has Thurs and Fri off work. So just a matter of being packed up to get on the road Thursday. About a 3 hr drive to get to Moon Rocks from Pine Grove....over 88 into Minden, then north on 395 to Reno then out Pyramid Highway.
Looking forward to the trip.

RE: CalNevOre 4 Moon Rocks NV Memorial Day Weekend

I've been a member of these forums for a few years now. It is time that I attend an event. I have been successful it getting the time off from work. Count my family in! The wife and I, plus two young daughters (3 and 5). We ride a four seat Rhino and have a 5th wheel Sierra Sport.
I have two other families and maybe a third that regularly camp with us. They are not members on this forum, but will be coming along. on this trip. So whoever is keeping tally you can put my group down for 3 trailers and three rhinos, maybe a 4th trailer with a T-Rex.
We plan on arriving Thursday the 21st!
If there are some group buys for firewood, beverages, etc let me know and we will gladly pitch in.
Looking forward to the trip and meeting new people.
Here is a picture of us camping last weekend somewhere in the high desert of Nevada!

RE: New to the Forum

Welcome. I like your set-up...looks like you can take it almost anywhere. There are times I wish my trailer and tow vehicle were smaller to get into some more off the beaten path places.

RE: Toy Hauler Gas Tanks

I use the STA-BIL - Fuel Stabilizer and have had a good results. My trailer stays parked for most of the winter (Nov-March). It allows me to use gas that is a few months old without a noticeable difference. The advertisement for the product states it will stabilize the fuel for up to 12 months. It allows claims some other benefits. I usually buy mine through Amazon...good price and free shipping. Here is a link STA-BIL

RE: Gearbox Problem need help please

My buddy I camp with has an 2006 Gearbox that is having the exact same issue. The rear frame for the tailgate is separating starting at the top left corner (slowly the screws are coming unattached as the gap gets bigger). He spoke to an RV repair show in town and was told it is a rather large job to fix the problem. I do not know the details regarding the repair method. I do know that since he first noticed the separation occurring he has used the trailer on 4 more trips. The area separates just a little more each time he travels down the road, but it has not come all the way off.

RE: Forest River Sandstorm Pricing

I have a price sheet from late 2006 when the Sand Storm was called the Sierra Sport. Probably still some similarities. Shows the price for each trailer model in the line up and the specific price for each available option. It is a wealth of information if you are trying to build a unit for order. If you are interested in it send me your email address through a PM, and I will send you the file as an attachment. You will need Microsoft Excel to read the file.

RE: hellwig, supersprings, or timbrens for an 08 F150

I debated the different options for awhile. If money was not an issue I would have went with airbags and in cab controls. I ended up going the Timbren SES route. I have had them on my Dodge 2500 for 3 yrs now. I drive empty, loaded and pull three different trailers that I own. The Timbrens definitely help a lot with sag and handling. They were easy to install, cheap to buy and the best part maintenance free. The only time I do not like them is when I have a small load in the bed of my truck or when I am pulling my flat bed trailer empty. This amount of weight is just enough to get the Timbren close to the axle, but not compress it. This makes you feel the bumps in the road a little harsher then I like. Forutnaley when I tow it is usually heavy.
