RE: Off on a Big Adventure!

Don't try to see everything on the same trip because you won't be able to enjoy what you do see unless you have months. Decide on a few and enjoy those, and then pick out places along the route that might interest you. You could move to the West and not see it all.

RE: Husband wants to quit snowbirding :(

You know sometimes folks our age (I"m thinking post retirement), start not to feel well and he might be concerned about his health and not being near a comfort zone of hospital and doctor. Might not want to worry you.
My husband doesn't want to travel as much as I do and its getting to be a real issue because my time is getting short and my bucket list long. I am thinking about doing it alone.

RE: RV Friendly Gas Stations

The problem with The Next Exit is that it only lists exits off freeways and if you want to see America, you got to stay off those. I have found few gas stations that will not accommodate our rig.

RE: West Coast Trip

I wouldn't miss the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville Or, even if you hate planes after your trip across the ocean this in one great museum and its right outside of Portland. Then I would head over to Hwy 22 and cross over to Hwy 95 just to see Crater Lake. From there Id head over to 395 and spend the night in Reno or Tahoe. From there its 395 south, camping at Convict Lake, Red Rock Park, and finally LA.

RE: Dinner Plates and Bowls

I found so really cheap plastic plates bowls and glasses on sale at Fred Meyer after summer and decided to use them. If you have any mixmatched or chipped, use those and don't buy new.

RE: Newbie Confused and Excited - Starting out

I would think if you love motorcycles, A Class A would be awesome. I wouldn't worry about rain unless your going to join us up here in the Pacific Northwest. One bit of advise is don't by new, there are tons of low milage RVs cause someone thougt it would be their dream and it wasn't.

RE: New Mexico

Well while the plan is still a go, I don't think we will get out of Washington until 1 Feb depending on the weather so by the time we get to NM it might be spring.

RE: Am I the last snowbird up north

I've got you all beat, unfortunately. We can't leave til the end of January so I guess we aren't even going to be considered snowbirds.

RE: How to simplify travels

1)Trade you TT for a Class A or C
2)Take short trips for longer periods
3)Load the RV with stuff you need and leave it there. The only thing we have to put in the RV when we go is fresh food.
4)You don't need to dump every day, just plug into the electricity.

Have added a small blue Christmas tree with silver ornaments which sets on the dash. Sometimes I think less is the way to go.

RE: Flag light at night

Before you guys start berating folks for complaining about something no one has complained about, ask them if it bothers them. We also fly our flag but we bring it in at night. Its never a chore to care for our flag.

RE: War on vague thread titles: "Newbie has question" (or less)

WOW,I wonder about the blood pressure of folks who are bothered about this trivia. Come on, you could spend your time complaining about the poverty or about health care or politics or complain about RV's who take up 2 campsites or think their barking dogs are adorable, or who make a mess and don't clean up after themselves.
Closer to home, complain about folks who start new threads just to get a rise out of other folks.

RE: Just bought our FIRST motorhome!! Advice or tips??

Don't forget coffee, salt and a can opener.
This is for your wife.
Learn how to drive it and do it often. Learn how to park it and both of you need to know how to communicate in sign when your helping back up. I have two rules, I don't move if I cant see DH in a mirror and I don't completely trust his direction, I still check when backing up. I learned that when I took out the neighbors fence while he guided me. \
Cooking in the rig is easy but I try to limit my recipes to less that 5 ingredients.
I always burned stuff in the oven until I got a cooking tile to use.
Toilets. First you add water, then you use it. Plenty of water. Oh and you don't need RV TP, just buy cheap one ply and you will be fine.
Put together a shower bag with flipflops, a beach towel, a reg towel, washrag, soap, shampoo/conditioner and makeup for those times you use the campground shower.
Oh, thoes mesh fold up laundry bags are wonderful for dirty clothes. They are light and fold up smaller than a book.
Put together a first aid kit. You will probably never use it but your on the road and never know

RE: I want to feel safe. Put my mind at ease.

It is a very sad commentary on our times when folks feel that they need to be armed to go camping, especially in the boondock. Does that mean you think criminals are going to wander into the deep woods to find a solo camper.
BUT I know how you feel. I was at a state park and we were alone and it worried the heck out of me. I felt a lot safer when another camper came and joined us.Also I remember years ago reading about a boondocker who wanted privacy and every time he moved another camper followed him. I understood that other camper very well. LOL

RE: wind

LOL,ah did ya notice that wind farm just north of you? That area is just like a wind funnel,,and the desert is also known for its wind.
I just checked the wind map and it doesn't look any better now and it looks like you'll have to go north of Los Angeles to get out of it.
