I had the same experence with a happi jack motor used on the lift mechanism of our Outfitter. Bob Ward sent me a replacement, said Happijac get some bad motors from their Chinese source.

If you go to Moab, don't reserve too many days unless you are bringing your 4x4 vehicle. Our RV park, Canyonlands Rv park, doesn't refund if you leave early!! They told us over the phone when we reserved they would. But when we checked in they said the opposite. People we spoke to who mountain bike were disappointed because they share patches with 4x4 and didn't feel safe. They wish they made shorter reservations. Can't do too much in the N. P. without a 4x4.

We met a couple a couple of years ago with a stable lift on their camper, they were very pleased with it. I was impressed with how quickly they got the camper off the truck. I have had one failure on my happijac lift after using it twice. It is rarely used but apparently the motors are not well waterproofed, the factory suggested I put ziplock bags over them when in storage!!!
You might keep in mind that some camper manufacturers don't recommend using the camper off the truck.

One thing that is important to me is a factory tour. Also, for us being near the factory that will do repairs is important to us. Finding a dealer with a good service department that sell your brand can be difficult. We are lucky we live near the Airstream factory and the manufacturers in Indiiana.

Someone said that RV's are made just "good enough". Some people expect a product as good as the manufacturer says the are, then complain when they aren't. Others are easily satisfied, an owner of a camper of the same manufacture as mine was happy to refinish the woodwork in his brand new camper. Someone once told me that owning an Rv is a "hobby".

Somehow I missed the plans to camp together, ended up in the Handycap area for my wife. We did get back to the TC area on Friday but came during the fireless campfire and didn't stay because we didn't dress warm enought and were freezing. Came back saturday met a few folks, but everyone was elseware. Met Wazoo Saturday afternoon just walking around. Sorry we missed meeting more of you. Sounds like maybe we should have a RV.net TC handycap area :-)

When we got somewhat north of SE MI last year saw more TC's than on our normal travel. All we have is national and state forests with designated camping areas. Still nicer than commercial campgrounds in privacy.

"For me; I've PAID for the truck already. I'm putting it to dual use. The camper is free from DMV and insurance, being already covered by the truck. The ability to drive freeway speeds is also a great value. Stealth, ability to maneuver, etc. all things a dealer won't tell you if they don't carry campers."
For those of us who didn't have a suitable truck for camping, the price goes up, HD trucks are not inexpensive, I saw an article about the entry level corvette indicating it would be less than most of the one ton trucks I find on Internet search of dealers lots!
Some people have to make do with what they have.

I wonder how many TC's there are in existence ? I can buy a new class c Motorhome for the price of a F350. Not that many people have need for the capabilities of a TC, vs the disadvantages .

Towing a jeep on a trailer behind truck with 9.5' Apex
We are considering towing our jeep liberty behind our Outfitter 9.5 Apex. Worried about clearance between back of camper and trailer/Jeep. Anyone have experience with similar combo?
