RE: no power inside my 1994 Fleetwood Tioga class C

You should have an auto-reset circuit breaker in the engine compartment on the cable that goes back to the converter from the house battery. You should be able to read 12V on both of the terminals. If not it could have failed.

RE: How do I maximize MPG? from miles per hour

One way to determine your most optimal speed for fuel savings is to install a vacuum gauge. Monitoring your vacuum will allow you to maximize your engines efficiency.

RE: Adding batteries

Well it is a gamble. Logic says the 6V batteries will probably age quicker than the 12V batteries (since they are already two years older) and when that happens they will begin to drain energy from the 12V batteries and reduce their effectiveness. You could install them using an isolation switch so you could switch from one set to the other as needed. A marine battery switch will also allow you to run them all at the same time or disconnect them all. Remember the 6V batteries neeed to be connected in series. Then if you visualize the two 6V batteries as a single 12V battery it needs to be hooked up in parralel to the other two 12V batteries.

RE: Need some info on marine speakers

You will have to remove one of your speakers and verify the hole size (if there is one) to verify if any speaker will work. Poly-Planar has 5" ones also.

RE: Need some info on marine speakers

I went through a few brands of marine speakers on my boat. Most were only good for a year or two before they would start disentigrating. I now have Poly-Planar speakers and they have been going good for four years. Might check them out.

RE: 1991 Tioga rear running lights?

You might remove the bulbs and measure from a ground source (chassis) to each one of the ground studs to try and determine if one is causing the problem. My studs were loose as well but since they are mounted in fiberglass there must be a wired connection or ground plane on the other end of the stud. They tightened up once the nut was tighted down so you probably want to do your measurements with the nut tightened down. I know my lamp assemblies were in a pretty sorry state so I was glad that installing the new ones eliminated all my problems. If they had not I would be in the same situation you find yourself in. I would concentrate on trying to find the source of the faulty ground (or power connection) if at all possible. Maybe that will give you a clue on how to proceed.

RE: Tickets, Mexico vs USA if u every wondered!

I have had two tickets in Mexico. One in Tijuana and one in Ensenada. On both occassions the kind officer offered to collect my fine on the spot and take it to the courthouse for me so I would not have to bother. He was so kind he even halved the fine for me. What a great country! ;)

RE: 1991 Tioga rear running lights?

If your Tioga is like my Jamboree the grounds in the rear running light are via one of the two threaded studs that hold each light in place. I would remove each lamp and clean the stud amd mating surface in the lamp and see if it improves. It might be a good time to replace them all if they are the original lights. They are relatively inexpensive. The grounds are wired in series so a difference in voltage often times is linked to a bad gound connection somewhere. The positive connections are in parralel however.

RE: Anyone repaired a cracked AC shroud?

When I cracked mine I taped it form the inside with some eternabond tape I had left over from a roof job. Worked well.

RE: 1984 Fleetwood Jamboree E350 - fuel pump / filter?

Make sure the pump has the extra outlet for a generator (if you have the generator) and it is for the specific volume for your tank. I had someone install a pump for a 24 gallon tank in mine, which is a 36 gallon tank, and I cannot reach the bottom 12 gallons.

RE: 1984 Fleetwood Jamboree E350 - fuel pump / filter?

Just a guess but I would expect you had bad gas to begin with that you diluted by adding new gas. The in-tank pump has a filter at the input which I suspect has been impeded by the crud in the tank. You will probably need to, at least, drop the tank and remove the pump to clean that filter. Might filter the gas and use it somewhere else. You can probably find a new pump at Rockauto.com.

RE: checking the onboard cabin battery charger ?

As Pauldub said. You might disconnect AC power and the ground from the battery and measure and then reconnect both and measure. You should see about 14V (give or take). But my '92 Jamboree converter only puts out 3 amps when charging. Or it did before I upgraded. If your battery is discharged you need to hook it up to a remote charger that delivers more amps and see if it recovers. If not it is probably "new battery time".

RE: Dometic RM2820 Not Getting Cold

I ran my refrigerator overnight while parked in my "mildly sloping driveway" and had the same results. No cooling. I moved it to the level street and it was cooling normally in about 4 hours. That was a couple of years ago. I think severe damage occurs if you are constantly using the refrigerator on a slope over a longer period of time than overnight but it probably is dependent on other factors such as the age and overall condition of the refrigerator. Here's hoping you have the same results I did.

RE: RV camping closest to Legoland

You might try Guajome Regional Park in Oceanside. Hard to find anything this late. If you are willing to drive about 20 minutes there is the Escondido RV Park not far from the I-15 - Hwy 78 Interchange.

RE: Onan Generator Crank Case

If the generator is a BGE or NHE model the pump accesses the oil via an inlet pipe with a screen assembly (per the Onan Service Manual) so that should provide some protection from the tube (or particles) being sucked into the oil passages. If you still have some of the tubing, boil some water and see how the tubing reacts. The generator holds almost 4 quarts of oil so there must be quite a bit of room in the crankcase. I would consider buying a gallon of cheap oil and running the generator for an hour or two and then drain the oil. I would think the worst case scenario would be the tube melting and plugging the intake screen but the boiling water should give you some idea if that should be considered.

RE: Soldered terminals

People who have years of experince will tell you a properly crimped terminal is better than a soldered terminal. The problem is to properly crimp a terminal you need a rather expensive crimper and most people will never be able to justify the cost. I like to crimp then and then add a bit of solder at the end of the wire where it exits the terminal. Soldered terminals are prone to breaking from vibration where the solder ends and the wire exits the terminal. Or so I have been told.

RE: Oh crud! Something new to worry about....

My 92 passes in California every two years. Put some fresh gas in the tank and drive the motorhome about 30 minutes prior to the test to make sure the catalytic converter is fully operational. Good chance it will pass if there are not apparent problems with the engine.

RE: Advice for keeping warm in Yosemite campground

The furnace runs on 12 volts only for monitoring the temperature and initiating igniton. The heat comes from the propane. Turn the thermostat down to 60 degrees, throw on a couple of blankets (or use a standard sleeping bag), and enjoy. I don't believe there is a time limit associated with running the furnace. The capacity of the batteries and the amount of propane available is the limiting factor. Your from Denmark. Turn off the furnace. :)

RE: Onan Emerald I GenSet generator

Maybe stating the obvious but on my MH you have to plug the 120V supply cable into the generator to power up the 120V circuit.
