RE: Water Pump Silencing Mod Ideas

I just placed about an inch of foam padding on the floor. Then placed a 10x10 inch piece of plywood on top of that. Placed 4 screws through the plywood through of foam into the floor. Next, separately screwed the pump to the plywood. All the vibration is absorbed by the foam. I also used the flexible hose on either side of the pump. Last thing was I used foam insulation that you can place on hot water pipes at home onto the water lines at any place it touches the wall or floor of the camper. Whisper quiet now!

RE: Camping near Bridges of Madison County(Winterset), Iowa

I would agree with all the suggestions listed above. WDM KOA is nice with pool and fishing pond. The CG in Winterset is highly recommended. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them!

RE: Best Price for Honda 200i

The Hicklin dealer is one mile from my house. They are the national distributor or something like that for the Honda gennys. I've been in their store and have seen the warehouse. Good dealer. I think since they are the national distribution center for Honda, they can get the best deal to you. Tell you what.... you buy one extra 2000i and I'll deliver the other two to your doorstep!:W:B

RE: 2009 Keystone Passport 280BH

No leaks for us either, but just keep an eye on the seals around the slide. We pull with an F-150 with an 800# setup on the hitch.

RE: Captial Reef - Fruita CG

Just to let you all know, we made it! We arrived on Tuesday around 10:45 AM and there were plenty of spaces available. I estimated around 30 or so!! We found a nice shadey spot in the A loop that was double wide. There were still at least a dozen spots available at 6 PM that night. It never did fill up completely. This suprised me since it was only the Tuesday after the 4th of July Holiday weekend. BTY... the peach pie was the best. And, I finished it myself. The DW, DS, and DD opted for the ice cream. They had a hard freeze late this year, so no fruit was available to pick. Thanks again for all the advice. We are now in Bryce Canyon and on to Zion tomorrow.

RE: Captial Reef - Fruita CG

Thanks all for the quick responses. We've seen about all we want to here in Moab, so we are planning on leaving early tomorrow AM and trying for a spot at Fruita. Since it is only about a 2-1/2 to 3 hour drive, I think we will be there by 11 AM or noon at the very latest. The best part too is if it is full, then we can just drive on to Torrey and get a spot there. (So, crossing fingers now). No internet in Fruita, so if you don't hear anything, we made it!!! Thanks again all!!

Captial Reef - Fruita CG

Anyone been there just recently? We are in Moab right now and on to Bryce in a couple of days. I'm thinking of breaking up the drive with an overnight stop at Capital Reef. How full has it been this week or last, and just how soon would I need to be there for a spot? Also, I have a 30 ft TT and how does that fit into their spots.

RE: AT&T or Verizon

I think you might be able to get the Verizon Aircard for $0 right now. Ask about getting it for free for signing up for a year.

RE: What's the most miles you've covered in a day?

570 miles from Glacier NP to Medora, ND. DW doesn't drive the TV, so it's just me. I was pretty well spent after that.

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

Just thought of something else. I have paid so far... Champion $299 at Tractor Supply HoneyWell $299 at Home Depot That's $598 TOTAL invested in two GREAT generators. Each serves a purpose. I love the thought of the Champion available at home if the power goes out too.

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

BREAKING NEWS..... Okay, I did not have a lot of time this weekend to compare my Honeywell 2000 to my Champion. However, I just completed one test of the Honeywell. I have a 13,500 BTU A/C on my TT. The Honeywell powered it just fine!!! Of course I shut off all breakers except the A/C and started the fan first. Then I kicked in the compressor. The A/C ran for 10 mins with no problem. The gennys running full bore, though! Other notes: Still waiting on parts from Champion for pieces broke when it was purchased. Champion has great customer support and friendly staff. The plastic housing behind the instrument panel was broke, they are sending me a new plastic part. Going to have to disconnect EVERY wire from instrument panel to install new housing. Not excited about that. Weight: Really like the weight of the HW over the Champion. The Champion is really a two person move if going more than 20 feet or so. (I'm a young 39 too!) Noise: DW and DS both thought they sounded exactly the same DB wise when running at full power (Eco "off" on the HW). The HW "ECOs down" when just running battery charger and lights. Much quieter in ECO. We leave Thursday for long trip. Have decided to take the HW since we will only have four days of boondocking in a National Park and A/C isn't really needed. That's all for now...

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

Just picked up the Honeywell 2000i at Home Depot in Ankeny, Iowa. There was only one in the store and it was located sitting on a shelf by all the generators. No price sticker on the box and no sign to show the price. I took it up to the cash register and asked for a price check. $299 was the reply. Out came the Visa and out the door I went with it. (I checked my other Home Depot in Urbandale last night and none there) Tonight I am going to run it side by side with my Champion. Will post my "comments" tomorrow in a new thread.

RE: HONDA Vs CHAMPION GENERATORS

Okay, my turn. I own the Champion 3500/4000 model. I use the Honda 2000 at work. These are my general comments for pros/cons... Price - Love the $299 vs $850 Weight - Honda is half the weight. Hard to lift/move the 95 lb Champion. Noise - I would not run the Champion at a CG that doesn't have set generator hours. I'm just self conscience about bothering my neighbors. If there ARE generator hours and my neighbors aren't parked right next to me, I use it. I would not worry about the Honda running all the time. Size - Honda takes up less storage space. Thief - Honda's are a magnet. A/C - You want it? You need 2 Hondas or 1 Champion. Home use - For "back-up" at home, 3500 watts from the Champion is better. The way my house sits, my neighbors can't hear it. Service - Honda dealers/repair places are plenty. Champion you call them in California for direction. I've called Champion too, fast response and friendly support. My Champion came with a cracked instrument panel when purchased. They are sending one to me. Electricity Produced - Honda's is a "cleaner" wave form. Status - You want to drive a Lexus or does a Ford suit you fine? Okay, so there is my Pros/Cons. Decide for yourself.
