RE: Air Conditioner Leaking
Sounds like a pretty easy fix. I'll see if I can procure a gasket tomorrow. Fortunately it lives under cover, so it's only been in rain a couple of times. We always run the fan when we get home to dry things out.
Air Conditioner Leaking
After five years of careful maintenance, we have our first leak. It appears to be coming from around the air conditioner compression gasket. The owners manual mentions tightening the trim piece, but it is pretty tight. Right now, it's only a few drips when it rains. It lives in covered storage, so it's only an issue when we're camping in the rain.
What is the best way to go about repairing this seal. It makes sense that it is the seal between the a/c unit and the roof. Has anybody tackled this before? I've thought about just laying a bead of caulk around the base to serve as a curb to direct water away as a stopgap until I fix it more permananently.
RE: A cautionary tale
I finally got tired of wedging the bikes in and out of the trailer and bought a bike rack for the back of the Jeep. It makes packing a ton easier, though the dogs aren't fond of jumping over the back seat to get in.
RE: digital thermostat
Besides being more accurate, the digital thermostat is a major power saver, especially in a camping situation. Most digital thermostats have four time periods. We initially set all four times to 60 degrees. Any time you want heat, click it up and it resets after 6 hours which is nice if you forget and leave for awhile. Another nicety is that you can set the heat to come on a little bit before you wake up so that first trip to the bathroom is bearable. (We like it cold when we sleep under our pile of blankets!)
The hookup to the furnace is straightforward. Two wires and you're done. The A/C can be done. It's detailed in one of the forums. Good luck!
