RE: Windshield wipers?

Rain-X. Wipe the blades clean with the spray when you do the windshield.
Rain-X is great to keep solar panels clean too, for those of you who has 'em.

RE: Ok one more HEAT question ?

A properly scaled quality sleeping bag and tea/coffee pot within reach from sleeping spot. That's the perfect answer to a perfect night in a B (or van conversion) somewhere where others aren't.
Happy holidays.

RE: Ok one more HEAT question ?

I've had quite good luck, when 120 volts is available, with an oil-filled type electric heater. On no more than its 600 watt stage and half dial, it'll keep my van very toasty into the low 20s.
I, too, have a catalytic Coleman heater for off-120 backup, but the catalytic process produces lots of moisture. Even with the day-night shades pulled and front windows insulated, it gets kinda drippy inside.

RE: Coleman ProCat Catalytic Propane Portable Space Heater

Remember, too, that a by-product of catalytic heating is moisture. That's a second reason for ventilation; to pump humidity out.

RE: 110 inside

Do a search for "Male motor base 2-pole, 3-wire weather proof connector" and you'll find the choices of quality. Most take just a circular hole plus screws through the outside skin of the vehicle. I cut mine with a circular drill assembly available at Sears hardware departments.
Good luck.

RE: 110 inside

Get a resverse plug assembly (to take socket on extension cord) and a good quality weeather proof lid for it. I mounted mine behind the driver's door with a quality outlet strip inside mounted to wall on door post. Strip has ground fault and surge protector. Cutting the holes isn't that hard. My reverse plug only needed a circular cut.

And then there is us who really RV in a conversion van. I have for years in a customized 15 year old GMC Vandura 2500 by Tiara with additions by me.

RE: Chevy Van Customization Mods

I Googled that KMSD portable air conditioner and couldn't find any information on it that gave details as to power consumption on AC and what they do with the condensate. Looks interesting to me too, but I sure would want to know more.
As to your other questions, those of us who've done it have hashed and re-hasned 'em on earlier threads. Search Solar, interiors, cabinets, etc.

Good luck. Hope to catch up with you somewhere down the road.

RE: Easy tire care

I looked at it. My concern is whether or not the chemicals in those "wet look" tire coatings are detrimental to the makeup that the tire companies spent millions developing for long life and UV protection. Guess I'll have to e-mail Michellin. They are my tire of choice for decades now and quite responsive to questions.

RE: Younger Campers

Hey! Don't shun camping 'cause there are no young folk near or of like mind. Some of us older folks are worth exchanging a "hello" or question with. You may be surprised to find that some of us who appear older than dirt would rather visit with young people than our peers. I know what's wrong and what's exciting (not much) with old people. I yearn to learn from those of you who will enherit the wirlwind.

RE: Freezing Weather

Or, as I did in the ice storm that ravaged the Ozarks last Jan. 31, hook up (took 4 hours from idea to out) and head south of the 70-degree isotherm.

RE: help with rear door leaks when raining

Door opening gasket might need replacing too. I had to replace both doors. Added a second regular weather seal gasket across the top of both doors and that did the fix for me.

RE: Post Your 'B' Sightings Here

Seen often (when the weather is nice) in the Arkansas Ozarks, my very own roll-your-own, solar equipped Conversion Van RV. Seen most anywhere else from the Rio Grande to Ontario other times.

RE: Any Pilots (airplane owners) on the boards?

". Rumor has it that you can taxi to the campgrounds and set up your tent."
I don't think so unless the wings retract. Not a long walk, but will be a walk.
Now, if you're crossing Kansas, you want to stop in at Beaumont. You can taxi out the gate and up the road to that nice big tree next to the Beaumont Hotel to eat and camp at the end of the strip too.
Beaumont is on the Wichita sectional, about 40 miles east of ICT in the heart of the Flint Hills.
