I did the same exact thing.
I just pulled the propane tank and welded in the extra brackets, then hit it with some rust proof black spray paint....
Tada.... looks like it came from the factory... :)

We camped in a 1968 Apache Mesa until 2006, when we replaced her with our 1207 Jayco.
Here she is!

Call me crazy, but I see no reason not to follow what the book that came with my TV says....
For the OP, we tow with our Saturn Vue V6 AWD.
Tows great and gets about 25 on the highway when not towing... about 20 in the city.

Only advantage is the inverter...at idle, its deff quiet...
But when running full bore, like it will be when running anything using prob more then 1000 watts, its only 2 db louder then the $299 Champion (67db).
..and the Champion is a 4000 watt peak genny, with a 30 amp plug built right in and will run an a/c all day long in 100 degree weather....
Anything 67db and under is legal. Its the State Park law.
If money wasnt an option, id have a $3000 Honda 3000.
But money is a reality in my world, and i have a $300 Champion. :)
You make the call...
That said, its good to see more and more inverter genny's hit the market. Maybe someday we'll be able to buy one for a reasonable price.. :)
