I went through that with my previous Pleasure-way Plateau but in a live and learn situation. The difference is all I had to do was add a $33 Charge Wizard to the existing converter after boiling a battery.
Boiled the 2 coach batteries to death on our Navion IQ, so I decided it wasn't going to happen on the ERA as it has the $$$$$ AGM coach batteries. They aren't as forgiving

I see that they've went back to the push button cabinetry locks in the Travato. Those are nice to have, although we've found in the ERA that they are not really necessary unless one does off roading and keeps heavy stuff in the upper cabinets.
RobertRyan, this 3.6 engine that Chrysler is using is a sweetheart of an engine. Very popular here in the USA on Chrysler products. The highway patrol here in my state has went to it on all the Dodge Chargers as it will do 135mph and out accelerate their previous V8 engine Crown Vics. The Provan has a 6spd auto trans vs a 5spd in the rear wheel drive applications up till 2012 in Chrysler products. The Ram 1500 pickups have this engine now with an 8spd trans and push 25mpg.
The diesel will be around but maybe not through WGO as it has a clutchless manual transmission that has to be shifted. Americans have become lazy and won't pay $85k for a vehicle with a stick shift, (or most any other stick shift car/truck)

Here is another video, which does a somewhat decent walkaround of the Travato.
That video is mostly about the ERA not the Travato. There was just a little bit on the Travato at the end and not a complete walkaround.
However, there were two interesting aspects about the ERA. First, the graphics are greatly improved and simplified yet those that have been ERA name stripping will have a harder time taking the side ERAs off this design. :)
Secondly, it looks as if they have lowered the bed in the back on this one. Has the bed height which gave a lot of storage underneath been a complaint?
The ERA in the video is a 70X David. Fold down couch

I don't know a single Sprinter owner that has ever had to be towed and I know and have met many a Sprinter B owner. In over 100,000 miles driving some of the most remote roads in North America (Alaska and Yukon) with confidence I have never had a breakdown. I guess if that is your worry and driving criteria then you deserve a lesser solution that might breakdown and need to be towed. ;)

I think some of you are underestimating the Pentastar V6 in it's to be van form.
It's a powerful V6 for it's size, but it does take rpm to make that power. We currently have one in a Jeep Wrangler and it's a hot rod, once it gets above 2500 or so rpm. And smooth as glass.
I realize we're talking about 2 different vehicles classes here, but I'm sure the engineers will gear the Provan and retune the motor for lower rpm grunt. Besides, it will have a 6 spd transmission vs a 5 spd what we have in the Jeep.
Having said all that, I'd buy the diesel anyway.

Well, one thing we do know is that all the chassis specs are the best in the industry. GVW, turning radius etc. for any given model. 2500, 3500 etc.

Don't forget there will be teething pains for the two new vans. Both have new engines and emission systems. Even a small change can cause big issues, so I would not touch a completely new engine for at least 1-2 years.
Hate to say it, the Sprinter is the only game in town for "B"s for the near term.
Not all new engines. The Provan's diesel has been here for several years now in FUSO trucks. It's transmission is the big question mark. The V6 is the wildly popular 3.6 Pentastar. We have one of those in our Jeep Wrangler. Very quiet, smooth and powerful for it's size. Takes RPM to make those horses though. Trans might be a ? though for the weight.
The Transit is using the 3.7 naturally aspirated V6 that's been in Ford products here for years. Also the Ecoboost V6 from the pickups. The diesel they are using is new to the North American continent I believe, but been around in Europe for some time.
Ford has been kind of lacking in info lately about the Transit. Even here in Kansas City where they are building them.

Agree, don't hold your breath on the Transit & Provan. Although I'm predicting late, late 2014 calendar year for the first RV on these chassis, be it a B or C.
Milts22 is right about the Europeans already having these as RV's. According to the ProVan intro video, 75% are on the Ducato chassis. So the engineering has already been done.

Installed zip ties to keep the flying wheel covers from flying. Removed the dealer decals. Checked all fluids. Readjusted all the tire pressures a couple pounds lower
OK ... some one else has mentioned something about the wheel covers flying off. I gather that is a problem??? Under what circumstances?? Do you remove and replace them on a regular bases?? Maybe that loosens the clips or whatever holds them on.
What do you do with the zip ties. Feed them through the inner wheel hole and the wheels cover??
Today I removed the second rear passenger seat. The first one was removed when I bought the unit and I installed the storage cabinet behind the driver's seat. I find that I seldom need or use the rear passenger side seat and wanted to make extra room when I rotate the front passenger seat when parked so I can lounge and watch TV or work on the computer. I will also bring a small portable foot stool and see how that works.
I still left he pedestal there for now ... just in case I need to reinstall the seat in a hurry. Time will tell if there is a need for it.
Yes it is a problem with the wheel covers. A well known problem with Winnebago Sprinter based units, also later made Great West units that use the same wheel cover.
The easy and cheap fix is to go get some approx. 1/8th inch wide zip ties, thread them through the cover and hole in the wheel, back out again, tighten, cut off the excess. Do this twice on each cover directly opposite from each other. I do it 90 degrees apart from the valve stems, not critical, just how I do it.
Check once in awhile for snugness. If they get loose, just replace. The wheel cover should not move at all then. On our 2009 Navion we just traded, they got so loose that if they weren't tied down, they would slowly spin around the wheel while working their way loose.

Karsty, the Sprinters only come from the factory with the standard in the radiator cooling line just like almost all other cars do.
The Sprinter Store has an excellent trans cooler setup for the Sprinter, albeit very expensive.
I've heard, don't know whether it's true or not, that Mercedes has been known to reject warranty claims for "other" brand aftermarket trans coolers than the one above. As I said, don't know whether that's true or not.
If it was me, and I was towing, I'd go for the Sprinter Store model. The NAG1 transmission has been known to be a bit delicate at times

We just picked up our new 70A last week. Yes the padding is thin, but it works for me. The wife is cutting a her side of the bed 2" foam pad to fit under the Travasaks we use. We'll see on that how it works. Heading out on a 2 week trip soon.
