RE: furnace safety

We use the furnace in the MH no different than our stick house. In fact I am even safer in the MH as I have a carbon monoxide detector in the MH where I don't in the stick house.
We do not leave the furnace running when are gone, but do crank up the electric space heater to keep the chill off and save propane.

RE: roof top satellite????

I am another one that is going to upgrade my Kingdome for the Wingard Traveler. With the new satellite receivers, a single LNB dish will no longer do the job for receiving 100% of your channels.

RE: Central FL parks????

Ft Meade is a fair distance from Avon Park. For nice newer parks close to Ft. Meade, look along Hwy 27. There are several nice ones along Hwy 17 south of Ft Meade.

RE: ugh - question about towing

Dave,
The only one that can truly answer that question is the manufacture of your coach with the VIN number. If the hitch was installed at the factory and it is rated for 3,500 pounds there must be a reason for that.
It is not the chassis or the hitch that can be upgrade for the load, it is also the transmission, the coach brakes and the cooling system that have to be able to carry the excessive weight. If you are pulling a long hard climb in the Rocky Mountains of CO. with a transmission that only has 3,500 lbs of is rating left, but you decide to pull 5,000 lbs up that pass, something is going to over heat and possibly burn up.
Living in CO. for 20 years, I have seen many of these situation along side of the road with smoke pouring out from underneath the MH.

RE: 1996 S10 Toad

You already own the truck, so why spend money for something else to tow. I have a drive shaft disconnect on my truck and I don't have the problems that a few here have. For me....it is easy to hose off the disconnect linkage before heading out on a trip and spraying it down with silicone spray. Takes about 30 seconds and can be done without crawling under the truck. They DO NOT pop out of gear unless they are incorrectly adjusted when installed. Tens of thousands of them on the road, but one person likes to complain.

RE: Need help with a "Quicktips" article from Motorhome Mag.

Ed,
Thank you!! very much for your consideration and help. I know it didn't say much, and I thought I remembered where he connected the wire, but I wanted to make sure.
Thank you,
Chuck

RE: Will this Ebay Fridge Fan work with Norcold 4-door fridge?

You can also get the same fan for $3.99 from here
However, you have to add the $5.99 shipping and you have to change the plug from a computer 4 wire plug to a single wire 12V special spade connector that plugs into the refrig. light. Then you have to solider an alligator clip to the ground wire which also hold the fan in place against the coils. I don't think I would go through all of that for $4.00, but it was a good pass along.

RE: Need help with a "Quicktips" article from Motorhome Mag.

I was on MH Mag. site yesterday and they have very little archived. They have the main articles and the Dingy Towing Guide and that's about it. There is nothing on "Quicktips".
This article was only about 2 paragraphs, but he told how to wire the amp meter to your inverter panel. I would sure appreciate it if someone could look back about 4or 5 issues and see if they have that article.

Need help with a "Quicktips" article from Motorhome Mag.

A few months ago there was and article in Motorhome Magazine in the "Quicktips" section on how to wire a digital amp meter to your inside remote, inverter panel. Does anyone happen to have that article?? I have spent all day trying to find my copy and I cannot find it. Can anyone help me out?
Thank you.

RE: Disregard the towing recommendation.

Thankfully it's your transmission, brakes and cooling system that are going to have the problems from being over worked and NOT mine. The money you are trying to save, I hope you put in a replacement fund for the items that will probably fail from being overloaded. Ford transmissions are known to be the "weak link" in the 3,500 pound towing limit. Good Luck!

RE: ICE MAKER

You did not say what make refrigerator you have, but here was my problem on a Norcold. On the back of the frig, outside panel, there is a solenoid with a 1/4 in water line going to it. Loosen the water line and bleed any air that may be in the line. Did that with mine and it started making ice in a short period of time.

RE: Will this Ebay Fridge Fan work with Norcold 4-door fridge?

Don.
I sure like your idea of the switch, thank you for sharing that.
To the OP, yes these fans work GREAT and really cut down on the icing up of the refrigerator. Our last trip was 3.5 months and we never did have to defrost.

RE: what is the purpose of house batteries?

To add to what wolfe10 said which is a 100% right on, is a shorted battery can also explode and that is NOT a pretty sight. It happened in my golf cart when I was too cheap to change a battery I knew was bad.

RE: What toad can I pull?

thanks for the replies and ideas. I should have given more info. I am not opposed to using a dolly. i am looking into the Suzuki as well as the saturn relay (dolly).
as far as re-thinking the MH, I wish I could afford to go bigger. BTW, it is rated at 5k on the hitch and I will look into a stronger hitch as well as stronger rear frame section (friends in metal works).
You might want to stay with the recommended weight by your MH manufacture. I don't think your friend in metal works can beef up the transmission and brakes that would be required to pull and stop the extra weight. At 5,000 pounds you should not have a problem finding a 7 passenger toad.

RE: Hot water repair

I'll bet it is the check valve at the back of the hot water tank. They are the common cause for your problem.

RE: Honda Ridgeline Toad... ?

According to REMCO the Ridgeline can only be towed on a trailer. The second biggest problem is nobody makes a base plate for a Ridgeline. If a Ridgeline could be towed the manufactures of towing equipment would have EVERYTHING in stock.

RE: new cold problem

Here in Florida the same thing can happen in the summer. If sitting for a long period of time, with the humidity, the brakes can rust to the drums. It is just as bad as the darn ice to get freed up. Glad your back moving again.
