RE: Looking at a diesel, but not sure?????

Just find a clean Dodge or GM truck, save yourself some grief. I'm not brand loyal at all ,If it's junk it's junk, no matter which brand, they all have them. The 6.0 is a good motor in an off road application, but smogged, it's nothing but trouble.

RE: Gas engine and Diesel of same specs.Pull the same.

I had a 92 Volvo semi tractor with 300hp Cummins, lets see a 300hp pickup truck out pull that up a grade at 80k, must be all perception.

RE: Two wheel drive or 4x4?

I have both trucks, depends what I need to do, as to which one a drive. The 2wd surely rides more civilized , and stays aligned better.

RE: Prius towing a travel trailer? Yes.

I can pull my 3000lb boat around my yard with my hitch welded to my golfcart, a Prius should pull that a little faster.:h

RE: Test drove a new Chevy D/A Dually today

Nothing beats the power and smothness of the D/A - unless the Ram with the new Cummins and Aisin can do it?Don't need a new one for that. My '04.5 has lots of power and smoothness.I hear ya! I haven't hooked up anything I couldn't pull yet, and I have over a 100k miles so far, it just won't slow down.

RE: Got stuck.....

I wouldn't bother owning a 4x4 again, unless I lived where it snows. In Fl. if you stay on paved roads, your fine with 4x2.I have a beater 4x4 truck for the woods, and hunting.

RE: K&N air filters, help or not

It's the wind , unless you have a carburetor on your truck. With todays engine management systems, and all the input sensors, it knows to cut the fuel to maintain the correct F/A ratio if the filter is little restricted, it's not like a venturi effect of a carb.. I've had trips where I have a 1/4 tank when I get to my CG, refill, and leave the next day, and have right at a half tank when I get home.

RE: Older tow vehicles

I like old, the older the better. My 05 Dodge sits my yard all week, so I can drive my older 97 Grandprix daily . And on the weekend, I ride my even older 84 Goldwing around town. Every thing is payed for, so it's free sailing.

RE: Why does the market demand Diesel??

My 05 Dodge/Cummins gets the same mileage as my Grandprix 3.8, about 20mpg around town. So it's always a tossup which vehicle I drive all week. The diesel around here is .60 higher, so I actually save money driving the car, but sometimes it just feels right driving the truck around. Talking about an efficient engine the diesel is though, the car weight 3300lbs., half as much as the truck, and the diesel can squeeze the same mileage out of a gallon.

RE: Gone to diesel? Some questions for those that have.

My diesel swap was the best thing I ever did as towing is concerned. Power is not a problem, distance between fill ups are incredible now while towing, and I only change my oil & filter once a year now. Can't complain about anything on the truck at 100k miles, except I feel the paint could have a little more life to it, and I wax it all the time, but at the right angle I see micro spider cracks in it.

RE: Blow 6.7 ford and tranny brand new

Do that 3 times, and you could get a new one under our lemon law here in Fl., but you'll have to pay for your mileage. I learned that the hard way.

RE: Feb. 23 is Diesel Engine Day

Everyday is Diesel day at my house.Mine too, and I can't even count all the broken down gas vehicles I pulled home with my truck. Folks in town think I'm in the wrecker business because a have a reliable truck, and a $20 tow strap.
