RE: tire question

Yeah unfortunately on this one, you need to match the set.

RE: Car Dolly

Look for price and general common sense items like around the bearings for leaking grease. Often the exterior can tell you a lot of stories.

RE: AC WINDOW UNIT

Have you considered a portable air conditioner? I'd be concerened about the window frames holding up all that weight of a window unit. Portable A/C sits on the floor and just "blows out" the window for exhaust. They work really well.

RE: More things equal more problems

I agree. More things can sometimes be more problems. With 5 children, my wife and myself, we learn to "wait and share" for the 1 bathroom.
For the carpet, you need to seriously clean it. Professional carpet cleaners can help you with this.

RE: Slide out storage weight?

On a topic of this magnitude, I still say opinions are counterproductive and potentially worse than useless. You need facts from the manufacturers.
Absolutely. Anything else is a real risk for $$ repairs.

RE: Gas prices

People have a wide range of political issues and such.
But I'd always be nice. "It's just for fun and not a daily driver".
Simple as that. It's called an "RV" - "Recreational Vehicle".
I just don't see the argument on a "fun thing".

RE: Can I Pick Your Brains About Smaller Class C's?

Still love the Toyota line. Love our 4 cylinder.... But many people like the V-6. Super reliable - a snap to drive.

RE: Yikes! $3850 for a 5 day rental

LOL they can keep it. hahaha $4 g's for 5 days, not including fuel, food, etc.
You could go on a REALLY nice 14 day cruise with your other half with all meals, entertainment, bedding, etc., paid for for $3,000 (or less even).
If you shopped around you could get a 21 day cruise for $4 g's.
Sorry I just think $4 grand for 5 days is pretty much nuts for anything.
Love RV'ing, but then there's reality.

RE: 2001 holiday rambler imperial

Fishinghat covered it well. There is a group over at Edmunds that I know of. On a personal note, I've only heard good things about them. Didn't know they switched to Power Products jacks...

RE: I Need to Vent!!!

It's frustrating to hear that.... You know as a young RV'er and one who has rebuilt two coaches & does all my own home repairs, it is incredibly difficult to hear stories like this.
Why is it so hard "to be respectful & do the job right"? I just don't understand this stuff at all. At least give a call back.
Kind of brings out the "business" side of me. "On site RV repairs - can't fix everything, just 95% of everything". Just be honest, up front, give status updates, coaches can stay at home. Flat labor rate. Parts ordered in custy's home or over internet in front of them WITH their own credit card so they know they aren't getting ripped off.
I dunno. It just makes me mad hearing about stuff like this. Why not give a call every 24-48 hours to the customer to give them an "update"? Let them know the repair shop "is working for them"?
The OP was very patient. That service was horrid.

RE: Strut to hold up cabinet

Is it possible to fabricate a custom job from parts at Home Depot? They have many struts for cabinets.

RE: how to clean carpeted ceiling?

you can actually hire a professional carpet cleaner to do this. They'll use bio breakup chemcials and steam to clean the ceiling.

Yes you can paint them similar to an auto. For me, I would not care if it looked pro or not.... I mean, sometimes you just can't make it look worse. lol
