RE: Thanksgiving

(will you be at your usual spot by the tracks & the potty?)
Not sure yet, still working things out.
A word of caution for all RV net peeps
The BLM gave our club (Viewfinders MC) a fine for an "organized event" without a permit while camping off Trona rd last weekend.
So make sure your camp does not look organized, like club shirts/flags/signs/etc. Just a few friends gathering for some riding.
Ironically the BLM was harrasing another group I camp with over at Jawbone a few years ago and they told us to use Spangler, now they show up there and cite groups. A "little Birdie" told me they look for signs people put out on the roads and follow them to the camp.
Soo, if you put signs/paper plates out to mark camp, bee careful about what you write on the sign!!
Just wondering, did your group get a citation and later payed a fine or is the legal process still ongoing. They have to prove it was a event with testimony and evidence (pictures). I will be out at Spangler this coming TG holiday flying flags. One will be Old Glory flying the highest and I will admit, I belong to a club if the LEO shows up. It is the I'm an American club and anybody who wants to join me and fly their flags in a big circle and enjoy an American tradition can. I will cook the little birdie and be out at the Notta site from the 21 to the 29 LEO is welcome.

RE: Thanksgiving

DoH! I won't be going out until the 21st of November and staying until the 28th of November for turkey day. My calendar says that Thanksgiving is on November 19th but the school calendar says it is on November 26th so I have to go with the school calendar. I repeat, I will be going out from the 21st to the 28th of November.
We will be at the notta rally site
I'm bringing my street bike....somehow...

Yea, instead of running into sage brush at night it will be 60 ton boulders. This will be fun.

RE: Easter 2009

We just got back from checking out Stonehedge for the Easter camp. There is plenty of room for the haulers and should be a blast. One of the great deals is the hill directly across from camp, the view at sunrise of the Spangler valley is worth getting up for. BTW anybody interested in a ride to Schmidt's tunnel the back way?

RE: Cal City to the Husky Memorial, March 28,09

Hey if any of you wanna hook up with CripDuck and I, your more than welcome to. We are driving our SxS but you can bring anything to ride. We'll meet near Borax Bill's main stagin area, i'll pinpoint it down soon, so come on out and ride. If needed we can carry fuel for you. Anton, who's riding Co-Dog in your RZR?
Nancy is going to be the right-seater on this ride. She has been on the hook contacting local riders about the memorial ride.

RE: Cal City to the Husky Memorial, March 28,09

All desert peeps should visit the Memorial at least once. We are in for the 28th.

RE: Big Rock Candy Resort....?

Buy the National Geographic map of the Paiute trail, it is great listing all trails and rating them.
This is the map that I have. It's HUGE but very detailed. Someday when I retire, I'm going to but a big ol' utility quad and do this whole trail.
That is one of the reasons we go back every year.

RE: Big Rock Candy Resort....?

From BRCM the riding is all good. Each summer we ride the trail. If you have a trail map, you are good to go. A couple of the high passes might be closed in early June. We go in June becuase of the high water run-off, little or no dust, the wild life and the weather. Get a National Forest map, they have have some great trails to ride that are not shown on the Paiute Trail map.

RE: CalNevOre 4 Moon Rocks NV Memorial Day Weekend

I thought I would share some feedback that I have gotten through PM's
Bring back the Kids races and Mothers races
Wood, have a cord of wood delivered
Beer, a keg micro brew for the group
Bloody Mary Breakfast
Have a Potluck one night
I think the wood and beer is a no brainer when the cost is shared over the group.
Lets hear your ideas..
I like the idea, it saves me from hauling wood up there

RE: 2008 Ragen blackhawk 4005 and 2008 GMC 2500 36,000.00

Myself and another fellow d-max owner talked about this in the past and have looked it up a while ago. It is rated at a little over 10k. I always have loved how people always say you need a dually to pull a 5er...Same truck but an extra leaf and 2 extra tires.
I can't speak for all models, type, etc., but the drive shaft on my 2500 is approx. 11 1/8" round and on my 3500 is approx. 18 1/4" round, big difference. Same motor and tranny.
