Mississippi to Maritimes--best route to bypass NYC
I'm planning a trip from North Mississippi near Memphis to Nova Scotia and then out to Montana and back to MS. I want to miss NYC, and other big metro areas. Any route(s) suggestions? I plan to leave the first week in June and get to Montana by July 8 or so.
Thanks!
RE: '06 Sprinter? Or '07 Sprinter?
Thank you for your reply. I am really interested in a B, the View is just what I seem to be finding the most of. I am also mostly interested in the Sprinter, and '06 and '07 info would apply to both, and be the same. Thanks again!
I had an '07 Roadtrek built on an '06 chassis. Got 23mpg and loved it until the resonator went out twice. I traded it for a '11 View with the corner bed, dual wheels, lots storage, etc. I hated the way the View drove and the fact I could not use it for a second vehicle and park it where I wanted like I could the Roadtrek. After trying to sell it for 6 months or so, I took a loss and traded it for another Roadtrek. I love it! So glad to be back in a B! Point being--drive both types before you decide.
RE: Looking to camp in Montana
NFS Red Cliff Campground on HWY 191 between West Yellowstone and Bozeman, MT is a good place to camp. It is on the Gallatin River, with some electric sites, fishing, hiking, rock climbing. Sites can be reserved. There are some more NFS campgrounds on the river going north toward Bozeman. This is a beautiful drive if you are traveling through Yellowstone and come out in West Yellowstone, MT.
Roadtrek Customer Service Impressive so far
I posted on this forum a plea for help with the absence of a manual, DVD, or anything to explain the use of the Tom/Tom radio system which came installed in my new Roadtrek SS Agile. I always think I can figure out how to do something, if I just have the directions to follow. I was really impressed when, out of the blue, Peter Lange from Service at Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc. emailed me with the manuals, which somehow were taken out of the Roadtrek bag at the dealer!
I had not contacted the dealer or Roadtrek yet because of the holiday timeframe. Peter reads the forums and wanted me to get the correct information as soon as possible.
How bout that?!
RE: No Manual for Eclipse Radio in new 2012 Roadtrek SS Agile
I found out how to work my Eclipse radio, CD player, and TomTom on YouTube last night! I could not find the CD player or how do use the display or anything in the Roadtrek stuff provided with the camper. There are a couple of good videos showing just that. Yeah! Amazing what you can learn how to do on YouTube...
RE: Canadians Buying Sprinters in US
Call the Mercedes Sprinter Customer Assistance Center--877.762.8267--located in Montvale, New Jersey. I talked to them about selling my Winnebago View, which is built on a Sprinter. A potential buyer from Canada told me the same thing about Mercedes not honoring the warranty in Canada. The Mercedes person told me exactly what a buyer had to do, which amounts to a small modification that had to be done before bringing it into Canada. He said that any Sprinter dealer close to the border would be familiar with it and that Mercedes would absolutely honor the warranty. You should get the correct info directly from Mercedes.
No Manual for Eclipse Radio in new 2012 Roadtrek SS Agile
I need help with the radio in my new Roadtrek SS Agile. During the walkthrough, the tech showed me the radio with TomTom and I just assumed I could follow the manual. Mistake. There is no manual in the Roadtrek for it, and I'm 550 miles away from where I bought it. There are two jacks in the glove compartment--one fits an Ipod or IPad. I'm not sure if this is to connect or to charge with. I searched all the manuals in the Roadtrek bag and nothing is there concerning the Eclipse. I'll start calling the dealer after the holiday, but wonder if anyone has any advice for now. Thanks!
RE: I'm back!! Traded Winnebago View for 2012 Roadtrek SS Agile!
I am so glad to be back in a class B! I made the mistake of trading my 2007 Roadtrek SS Agile for a 2011 Winnebago View 24J--lots more room, slide-out, etc. I hated it!! Tried to sell it for months--only got low-ball offers. I finally decided to trade it and take the loss, instead of looking at the View in the driveway knowing that if I had a class B, I could take it to Costco or Montana and park it almost anywhere! So, I found a 2012 Roadtrek SS Agile at a dealer that gave me a decent deal. I drove 550 miles to Lakeland, Florida, and picked it up Wednesday. I love it!
Since we're considering a View/Navion, what did you hate about the View? The Size, mileage, power, or what?
Thanks in advance.
I hated the size, mileage, power and the lack of ease driving a vehicle with dual rear wheels. I wanted all the extra space of the slide-out, and storage, but did not like having to pay to store the View when at my condo in Montana, or just sitting in the driveway here in Ocean Springs. I could park my old Roadtrek at the condo, but not the View. I like being able to use the Roadtrek to go to the store or sightsee. I was going to have to buy a car to drive in MT or maybe to tow. I did not enjoy driving the View, and it did not have the power I wanted to go over mountain passes. I just did not need all the amenities like the big frig and two sinks in the View. The automatic steps would refuse to come out at times and caused me lots of trouble in the Ozarks. Dealer could not find anything wrong with them. I was having to travel with a step stool just in case.
What I will miss is the diesel generator--loved that! I know lots of people love the View--just wasn't for me.
