RE: Puerto Penasco Rocky Point

We had no problems at the border. Outside of RP there was an inspection point but they didn't stop us, they got our friends. All the guy did was come in and pet the gato so they gave him a couple of bottled waters.

RE: staring the engine during long trip

I have towed my '00 Jeep GC from WA to CA and never started it. I have towed it over 150,000 miles and have 145,000 driving miles on it. Only problem I have had is a bad front drive shaft and running the motor couldn't have helped in this instance. IIRC, there is nothing in the manual about running the motor every so often.

RE: Restoreing severely rusted cast iron skillets

i like the Muratic acid method the best.. very fast and easy. Watch out for the fumes though. Clean it in an open area and hose off.. Dry and begin seasoning it. +1 Very easy method and fast. Muratic acid is used in swimming pools and can be purchased in the local hardware store.

RE: Michelin Advantage Program

It was not FMCA that put the restrictions on what tires are available on the program. You need to talk to. Michelin and ask if your size is available.

RE: I-5 Bridge Collapse at Mount Vernon, WA

wsdot page At 1:53 p.m. the southbound detour routes are currently experiencing a quarter mile of back-up, with minor delays. The northbound detour routes are experiencing no back-ups or delays. You are as likely to experience traffic delays in Portland and Seattle as at this bridge detour. At noon time yesterday,we went through Seattle in 15 minutes. Traffic slowed down at exit 226 and finally came to a crawl 1/4 mile from 227. From there it was 30 minutes taking the detour to get back onto 5. No big deal

RE: Paint Code

Being a '95, using paint codes won't get you a match. From past experience, it is best to let who is ever doing the painting get the matching paint. If you are going to paint, then take a panel from the coach to a paint shop and let them try to match it.

RE: Is Aqua Hot retrofitable?

A used unit will cost anywhere from $3-5K.New units are in the $10K range. Then you need the registers (my 40ft has 4) at a cost of $500 each. If you don't burn diesel than you need a tank for that. Add some bux for hose and you are all set.

RE: Full Timing Accounting Question

as I recall, you must occupy that residence 3 of the last 5 years to be able to claim the exemption for a home sale. that exemption might be phased out, according to TV ads. bumpy It is 2 out of the last 5 to claim the exemption.

RE: upgrade window shades

Not a happy camper with the MCD shades. One broke, a piece of cheap plastic rod, and they don't support that shade anymore. Only recourse is to buy a new one at a "loyal customer" discount of $350. There is another company,Auto Motion Shades that looks to have a better setup than MCD

RE: install rv power awning on home?

I assume an rv awning power supply is 12v so you'd have to handle that. You might go to sunsetter.com and get a free quote... Actually my Girrard awning is 120VAC. I have to either be plugged into shore power or turn on the inverter to work the awning.

RE: Will RG6 improve my RG59 signal on my 5er

"The front swich box to the rear TV in my 38' er... I am sure I will notice when I do the upgrade." You won't see any difference in 38'. Any improvement will come from the new connectors installed.

RE: Surge Guard Universal Lock ??

It doesn't make any difference what kind of lock you have. If someone really wants your protector, they will get it.

RE: Windshield replacement

The OP stated that the campground will replace the windshield so why should he settle for a repair? A new one will run $800 to $1300. Replacing a windshield is major surgery. And, like major surgery, should be avoided unless necessary. On my coach it's not just replacing the windshield...two side supports, both mirrors and other things must be removed, then put back on and resealed. Replacing a windshield is not "major surgery". It is done every day and the people that replace windshields know how to do it. So, if the OP gets a "repair" and then in a year or two, the repair goes to pot, then the windshield replacement is on his dime. It is best to have the insurance company do the replacement and be done with it and to heck with the "repair".
