RE: Fort Boonesborough State Park - KY

we didn't care for it and won't be back 1. too much noise (dump trucks from the quarry one after another, etc) 2. no shade to speak (not like camping in the woods at all) 3. too many golf carts speeding around continually

RE: Affect of trailer weight on mileage

changed from 15 foot 2500 lbs to 26 foot 5500 lbs lost 2 mpg (10.5 to 8.5) both mileages over a number of years. same tow vehicle.

RE: RV parks or State Parks by Wisconsin Dells

we go regularly to devils lake and mirror lake, both are nice parks. haven't been to rocky arbor. better get on reserveamerica.com right away to check out availabilities. I would guess that the pickings will be slim this late in the game as the sites can be booked 11 months out. I think you have a better chance at rocky arbor since it is less popular than the other two. good luck, donut

RE: Reserve America requires SS number?

just went to the res site for Kansas state parks. there is a section there under information required that lists 2 Kansas state laws pertaining to this. if you do a walk-up you will still have to supply the needed info to reserve a site.

RE: do you keep water in holding tank between trips?

if I have well water from home, whatever is left stays in there until I fill up for the next trip in state. if I have campground water in the tank, I will drain what is left. sanitize once per year at the beginning of the season. when the trailer is at hunting camp, I bring it up with a full tank of home water and then will add water to the tank with 5 gallons a home water as needed. then near the end of hunting season is winterizing time.

RE: Headed to the Bighorns!

we've been to the bighorns a number of times. some favorite camping spots for us were: west tensleep lake (north off of hwy 16 on forest road 27) the turnoff is just past meadowlark lake) it is a nice small campground with some sites right on the lake. tie flume or dead swede (east off of hwy 14 on forest road 26) have seen moose and mule deer in that area. medicine lodge historical site has a campground (northeast of hyattville off of hwy 31) a nice little campground run by the state of Wyoming also includes some sites along the creek. a shortcut to it from hwy 16 is to turn north on nowood rd just west of tensleep. don't miss a stop of a night or two at devils tower nm. nice campground inside the park. belle fourche cg we also camped at big Sioux recreation area near Brandon sd (just east of Sioux falls sd) on the way out and back. very nice and is run as part of sd state park system. wall drug and the badlands. wind cave or jewel cave in the black hills. mount rushmore. circle b cowboy cookout is the best one in the black hills (we've been to the others, too)
