RE: Need new tow vehicle

In lieu of the 2500 Suburban, I would look at a 3/4 or 1 ton CHEVY/GMC van with a Quigley 4x4 conversion.

RE: Stopped by the Ram dealer

The Longhorn certainly is plush. I had a 2012, Laramie 2500 and now a Chevy 1500 LTZ. These trucks are so nice I worry about getting a speck of dirt on the interior. With that said, my next HD will be as bare bones as I can possibly get away with. I like cloth seats better than leather and I don't really use any of the feature's in the higher end models anyway. Now if only the manufacturer's would come back with a manual transmision on there gasser's I would be a happy camper.....:M

RE: Got stuck.....

Lol....yeh it happens. I am sure this thread will turn in to another 2 wheel drive vs. 4 wheel drive thread but 4 wheel drive is certainly nice when you need it. I boondock and need it often.

RE: Top ten best States to Retire

My top 10 , in no specific order would be : Pennsylvania, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia. Ok, so I could only think of 9 states that I would consider if it were my choice alone. I guess if I had to pick one I would go with Kentucky. The problem is my wife's list would look nothing like mine.

RE: Hand Guns

The decision to own a firearm is a wise one IMO. Like others have said, you need to familiarize yourselve's with firearm's safety before you responsibly own one. Take a CC class and you will be good to go, it is also something you and your wife can do together and you might really enjoy shooting and take it up as a hobby to share like so many other's have. My piece of advice to you would be that if you decide against a firearm don't let it be due to other's convincing you that a firearm is some dangerous monster that will jump out of a drawer and attack you, they are as safe as the operator/owner.

90% of all Chevys are still on the road. There was the 10% that actually made it home!!!

RE: Any LEO retired or currently sworn here!

I am starting my BLET training tommorow night and it will last til dec 6 . I am a little older than most others in the class but hopefully a little wiser lol. I will have to keep my trips very local due to saturday classes. Any words of wisdom? Thanks
Congratulation's ! No real words of wisdom, most academy's are a quasi-military operation, just put up with that and do what they tell you to do, you will get through it with out any problems. The most nerve racking and rewarding part of your training will be the field training program. I say nerve racking mainly because you are no longer in a group environment and your field training officer's focus will be on you.
Understand that you will make mistakes, we all did, the mistakes just become fewer and farther between as you progress through your training. Don't get down on yourself to hard when you screw something up. Anyway have fun, it's a rewarding job and much like the military you are going to experience a comaraderie with your co-workers that many never get to experience.

On the plus side this kind of weather does help my argument of moving back home to the central part of the country....:B. My wife loves it here, I don't...so I guess I should be thankful for this weather.....bring it on, is this the best you got???...:B

RE: Anyone care to place their bet?

Plain old Chevy rules for me. Who needs all that bling anyway. Give me plane Jane power any day.
I have the same taste as you, I do not like my stuff flashy. As far as the new Chevy goes, it is about the blingiest (is that a word?) thing that I have ever seen. IMO it's borderline tacky.

RE: Going to look at new 1500 crew cabs today

Working a deal on a f150 eb max tow 3.73 gear supercrew 4x4 with 7700# gvwr
I am not a Ford guy and currently have a 12' Chevy 1500 LTZ. With that out of the way, I think the Ford you are looking at is the best 1/2 ton out there.

RE: heavy heart

I'm sorry to hear this, it is very rough when our buddies leave us. I lost my best friend in a car crash 15 years ago and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. It does get better but you'll never forget, I can tell you that.

RE: Towing with a van?

I can't help but add to every van thread...
...if you could get a dadblamed 3/4 or 1-ton van with a factory 4x4 option, I think many, many of us who drive pickups & SUVs would make the switch.
Not everyone of course, but many; I'd look long & hard at a 1-ton 4x4 van for RVing and I know I wouldn't be alone in that.
Yes I'm aware of Quigley; they're awesome but they are lots of $$$.
I am with you there, it would be a great vehicle for my needs. I would still like to buy one some day and have Quigley work there magic on it. If I were single I would have already done this.

RE: 2014 Chevrolet Web Site

Works fine for me and is quite fast to navigate and the site is very good with lots of pics and videos. We're down in Florida for a couple months in the 5th wheel using our Verizon Jet Pack MIFI.
Maybe it's not only a slow connection as I've noticed most of the Dodge/Ram loyalists are also a little "slow"! haha
Man that was loowwww. Funnier than he!!, but low.
