RE: Interior re-do

i would start kicking flea markets, yard sales, etc. to find my change out stuff, for ex. fabric (upholstry) can run over $30 a yd. but if you shop, $5yd can be had, figure 4.5-5 yds a chair.....flexsteel anyway.... or new replacement, on demand can run you $1500, waiting for a deal you can trip across em for $200 or less, but make sure you are going to like the fit, you can get the luna board at any home retailer, paint or wallpaper, even tile but watch you weight. cabinets will be your biggest hurdel seeing they are built in place. you might want to upgrade any wire issues you have at this time also.

RE: help fight the land grabers

we could get alot more done if the hiker's;biker's;4wheeler's;horsepeople;etc would just have a little tolerance of each other and each group put their radical's in check, and i don't mean making em president of the unit.....not pointing fingers, just a general. i was a member of the serria club until i discovered their main point was to close all lands to everyone but hiker's. i have did all the above at one time or another and each has it own merits, general common sense and respect for each other would go a long way, sometimes (i'm sorry) would of been all that was needed. i thought i was for clean air, water, and access, until i really got into their(sc) angenda. and when it comes to govt. they will take the easy path just about everytime, just close it, problems solved.....and now that my legs ain't what they use to be, my 4wh is the only way in to some of the gifts that we have in this country.

RE: Xzilon Protective Coating

if it's on ebay for $49, then it must be worth $19....haven't heard about it yet looking for replys also....ok back now; and a couple of thoughts 1.it last for 5ys, but what if it don't? 2.two different products A:for the exterior B:for the interior. 3.what's wrong w/scotchguard for the interior; at $6 a can? 4.the size of exterior product is for 2cars that might do 1/2 your rv unless you have a 25' model....so double or triple the asking price. as of right now i would use a good wax, and for the price have someone else do it...i can spray the interior down w/scotchguard no problem....remember when they (dealers) would sell this service for 3 to 6 hundred.....

RE: Off topic; home refrigerator help

we just had a surge that knocked the control panel for a loop, but ours went into the thaw mode. and at this point i would take my clunker over the last 3 that i have bought.....#1 25yrs- no defrost time to upgrade, still was working #2 defrost element sticks on, $600 to repair 4yrs old so move on #3 the ice dispenser is a joke,3 yrs ready to thow it at someone (will not mention name to protect the guilty) now sitting here w/#4 2 1/2 yrs old and the control board and relay is toast, having fixed, waiting for tuesday between 8am and 5pm for the repairman......been 3wks,arrrrgh. and the best part #1 is in a garage still working.....

RE: Rv cover or carpot????? Pics are lots of help!!

i would think it would be for dirt control; keeping it out of your ac, seams, fridge vent, etc. i park under a carport and when i go to pull out for the first time in a while, the roof is covered in dirt... i quess the wind blows it up and the top of the carport acts like a dyson vac? not sure if this is their reason but since you brought it up.

RE: Walnut Meadow, Berea KY

let's start w/the basics; what is a resort!!! and take it from there. seen a lot and the book is only a guide along w/the phamplets and ads you might find....one thing is the ratings are at least a yr old before they hit the shelves. for the most part we always go into a new park w/lower expectations and if it proves us wrong we win.... the most normal (as described) parks we find are the koa's and yogi's, but for the price they better be, and most of the time you can get a motel cheeper? and then they wonder why someone would stay in a walmart parking lot....for those of you that have a unlimted amount of funds great; for the rest of us; it does matter what value we get; and i expect clean, safe, and a little personal service, (have the office open long enough to get your extra's taken care of, not just to grab the money and split!) a clean pool; which seems to be the biggest deal buster, we have issues with, more than once i've done pool maint. before taking a dip...which isn't to big a deal, as long as the pool has good water..... how about the hookups being in operating condition, w/o having to use pliers, hammers, and putty to get hooked up?

RE: Septic System

you want two tanks w/the grey tank being the largest, 20 gal. black is hard to fill on a 3 day outing, on the other hand a 30gal. grey can get overwellemed in less than a day, esp. w/showers. figure 5 gals. evertime you wash a sink of dishes (just for a starting point, you can do it on less, but will you?) and here again this is based on 4 people not two.......if weight wasn't an issue i would have a 500 gal water tank w/475 grey and a 25 black..... and i could then go a couple of wks, w/o hookups, and still staying w/in our use zone, we do stay out the time now, but conservation is a must, along w/water filling and dumping..... we do take daily showers.

RE: Private Sale Question

it varies form state to state, contact the bmv, and i would do this in person to make sure that you also get any of the offical paperwork that could be needed, bill of sale, etc. and try to go back to the same person when doing the swap. all i would need to do is have the title signed and noterized, bill of sale noterized and my plate would be on the new unit, it would be treated as a transfer. and the reg. of the current one i owned. oh yeah and a signed and noterized oddometer statement.

RE: Inverter question

they do have inverters, but only for the small items, not tv's and such (ac plugs) due to battery cap. the diesel's have a larger battery bank to start w/ so you can throw in a larger inverter for grins and giggles.

RE: Another post closed - why?

can't please all the people all the time.....first the post should be in the right heading if not the mod. will move it....to the correct one, it can then appear in different locals (newest, active, popular) this saves everyone a little time and the chance of someone seeing it that can actually help improves, overall i think this site handles most issues correctly.....it is here for help and opinions, and from what i see there are plenty of both, i think they even have an area for ranting if that's your cup of tea....and you will find that you will get more indepth responses by private mess. due to never mind.... anyway if you happen to find something that works better let everyone know. and for the price it's hard to beat.

RE: 1994 Bounder 36J help and advice please

could be underpowered, depends on how you are going to be using it? don't plan on very many mountain crossings. 70mph speed limits could be a problem also. if you are buying based on a test drive, you need to at least fill the gas and water up, and load everyone in, then go on a good 25 mile run, not just around the block..... if you think it has any issues then, wait until you have to live w/em for a while, they will not get better or repair themselves. a 94 w/76.000 is below in my own thinking of at least 5k a year, and it maybe for a good reson, or not,if you are just going to be making 100mile trips, it might just be the ticket, that's the great thing about this lifestyle, everything is a trade off, seems that the bounders have a good rep. esp. by the fulltimeing crowd. lots of water, battery, holding tank cap......but as it has been said before, i have never seen anyone parked at a top of a pass or crest, kicking and screaming at their unit because they had too much power.....but i have seen all kind of issues w/underpowered rigs.....(it's a toss up, between underpowered and underbraked.) again a lot of this has to do w/weight, my rule of thumb is 22k of weight needs at least 300hp. 18k 250hp is ok, if i was to jump in and drive from new york to la. these are my min. but in the my world, not sure i would even try in the 250hp unless i had too. good luck w/whatever you do....

RE: do i have enough truck to tow?

it doesn't matter what you reg.the truck at, it will not change to laws of weight, i think the truck is rated for around a 9k tow? if you keep you full wt# around the 10k, and not push it hard, and allow for stopping, you can get by, but just remember every what-not, trinket, souivner, ROCKS(our personal issue) is really going to add up fast. my personal opinion and a $1 bill will get you coffee at mcdonalds,,,so take it for what it is, i wouldn't have a problem w/short trips 800m or less level ground, few hills, etc. but not for a cross country mountian busting, desert surviving, retirement hostel. and you mentioned chipping (some are better than others)..is going to cause more strain on your truck, it might pull better, but stress is stress when it comes to bearings, rods, cranks, axles, etc. and your weak points will surface soon if not done in moderation.... good luck also.
