RE: Looking for TV for 35' 5er

I'll get the popcorn 'cause you're going to hear some hot debate.
Some will say don't even think of buying an '04 or '05 Ford since it has the 6 liter PS that cost Ford 500 million in warranty issues. Some will say they've had good luck with their truck.
Don't know of any real issues with the D/A combo but I'm sure someone will come up with something.
Personally, I'd probably stay away from the the Fords since you just don't know if you'll get a good motor or not. If limited to used '04s and '05s, I'd got with a GM product or Dodge.

RE: Pulling the trigger on a Ram 5.9L mega cab

Use the Prodigy if you aren't going to get the BrakeSmart. Prodigy's may not be everyone's favorite but they are simple to install, last a long time, and work great.

RE: Reputation of 2007 Ford F350 PSDs?

Guarantee you forums like these will bring out the few that really had problems. We don't hear about the many that work just fine. Like the man said, get a carfax, etc. on the truck and if it looks good and you can afford, buy it and enjoy it. While I agree the earlier 6.0s seem to have their share of problems, it also seems that the 06 and 07s work pretty well. Best of luck with your decision.

RE: Well this just sucks!

Hopefully everything will work ok with the repairs and costs. Really stinks when a vehicle strands you. Make doesn't matter, things go wrong. Prayers for your peace and for your truck.

RE: Basic Diesel Ownerhip tricks

Cummins specifically advises against the use of fuel additives. If you want to get the real skinny go to the Cummins web sire and search out their recommendations. Letting a diesel sit or idle for long periods of time is hard on them. Keep up on the filters, oil, fuel, air use the correct grade of oil, and don't skimp on the quality and you should be able to get 350k out of it with no sweat.

RE: Challenger named most appealing midsized sports car

Daughters science teacher restored a '70 Challenger with a 440 in it. Told him he should have held out for a hemi 'Cuda. ;-)
Nice car, very quick. Have to say my favorite of all time is the '69 Z28 with a 302, particlulary liked the orange with white stripe. What Detroit did to muscle cars in the '70s and '80s should have been a federal offense punished by taking all their tools from them.
Good to see there is still some muscle out there. Love the new Challenger and Camero. Never been a Mustang guy although my buddies '65 fastback with a 289 high-output is one bad ?$% car.
Now, if the prices would just go down a bit...

RE: I have been thinking of going gas

Personally I believe vehicles are such a poor investment that the only way to get any value from them is to keep them long-term. I much prefer to keep my vehicles well-maintained as long as I can use them. Guess if you have the money to throw at new vehicles, go for it. Whims, though, do cost us a lot of money, just ask your wife. ;-)

RE: Confused about the Dodge 48RE transmission

If you are thinking of tranny mods do not do anything until you visit with the folks at dieseltruckresource.com. There is so much good information out there that you will be miles ahead of the game by just reading the posts. I love my 48re and tow all the time with it, never a problem. The 48 is much improved over the 47 but you need to read up on all the differences. Lots of folks do upgrade their tranny but usually because they are adding more power to the CTD. Get over to DTR and start visiting with folks, you'll be glad you did.

RE: Major diesel news coming...Fords 6.7L SCORPION DIESEL

Sounds like a great engine. Can't imagine what the power specs will be, probably 700+ tq, just in case you want to pull your house. Hope its a home run, I'm proud of Ford for not having to take the money.
